Was looking for a truck from this dealership and located the one I wanted. I called and made sure they still had it and that I’d be in to see it later that day. Once at the dealership I asked the price, just to reconfirm that it was the same as the Internet price…..was told that the truck was $3000 more than was advertised on the website. They told me to re-check the website, I did and they had indeed raised the price on there and “could not confirm that the price I said it was listed at was on there”. That was until I showed them my phone which still had the add up from earlier w/ the lower price—I also had a screenshot of that price. The manger then got envolved and I was told I could not get the truck for that price. Pretty sure I’ll never buy anything from this place, far to many other dealerships that will work with you in the Charleston area to deal with the smoke and mirror tricks of this place.
I bought a Ford Ranger from McElveen Summerville in November of 2011. I drove up to the dealership looking for a car I had seen on their website. Unfortunately, that car had sold. Steve showed me a truck that he thought I would like, and he was right! We agreed on a price fairly quickly, and reasonably. They were very accommodating, and seemed truly interested in earning my business. The paperwork end of the deal was a little slower than I anticipated. Other than that, no complaints! Pleasant experience, I would buy from them again.
BUYER BEWARE! On 6/24/10 we were told by Mr. Dave Lawhorn, Service Manager of McElveen to give him the paperwork and the dealership would send a check for $598.00 and send it right out to us. The next day on 6/25/10 I even called him to make sure he had all the proper documentation to process our check. He replied when I had him on the phone “I got the paperwork and have already given to my Accounts Payable person so you can get paid just like we agreed.”
Almost a month went by and still no payment. I called Mr. Dave Lawhorn. He said “Send me the paperwork again. They (Accounts Payable) must have lost track of it”. I resent on 7/20/10 and the next day Mr. Lawhorn said he got it. Thirty days latter, no payment! I called and asked for the Accounts Payable person who I found out was Ms. Ashley Parker. Ms. Parker asked me to send her the paperwork. She did confirm she got it and would give me an answer in a day or so. 15 days latter no payment or even a call from her.
Now 2 months latter Ms. Parker and Mr. Lawhorn will not even take my phone call or return my voicemail.
