Very pleased with transaction. I know often the only reviews small business get are bad ones. Golden Rule deserves a 5 star.
I was in need of a pickup truck for my business. Jason was extremely helpful in getting me financed at a lower rate that I could have obtained, and communicated with me through every step of the process. He was honest and fair. I am very happy with my purchase and had a wonderful experience with his dealership. His ads and thorough review of the vehicles (with pictures) made this internet buying experience smooth as silk! He assisted me with travel plans to the dealership, and even picked me up when I arrived in Akkron. His employees showed respect and were very courteous. I could not have had a better buying experience!
They had what looked to be a nice gmc Denali for sale on autotrader so after contacting them and being verbally reassured of its excellent mechanical condition I sent them a $500. Deposit to hold it for me. I drove 400 miles from nj to Ohio to buy the truck. It looked decent until I test drove it. The front end was a little loose but I was still willing to follow through until I stepped on the gas and the trans slipped before every shift. That finished my test drive so I headed back to there so called dealership and told them I wouldn’t be able to purchase the truck because of the trans issue. They said ok and I asked for my deposit back and they refuse to give me back my money. He is a thief. Buyer beware
I found this dealer on ebay. I made the mistake of going off site to buy the car, so I was not able to give the dealer(owner) a review on ebay’s site. I bought a 2000 Buick from him. The car was used so I did not expect perfection but I did expect that he would live up to what he promised.
“MAKE SURE TO COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES. MOST CARS ON THE INTERNET DON’T COME WITH A FREE WARRANTY! ALL MY CARS HAVE ONE FOR FREE! MOST OTHERS DON’T HAVE ALL THEIR CARS CERTIFIED INSPECTED!
WE SPEND ON AVERAGE $900 IN RETAIL REPAIRS ON ALL OUR CARS TO ENSURE YOU ARE GETTING A HIGH QUALITY VEHICLE THAT WONT NEED ANYTHING.”
That is taken directly from the page with the car I bought. The car arrived not very well detailed. Steering wheel and door panels dirty, rugs not even vacuumed well (there was lots of grass under the seat). But I let that go. I asked if the transmission had been serviced and was told it was not necessary (the car had 96,000 miles on it), but OK I could get the maintenance done. I left it parked for two days and the battery was dead. Turned out it was old and would not hold a charge, I guess they must have started it every day so they didn’t know. Then when I took it in to get the tranny serviced (about four days after I bought it) I was shown a badly leaking rear shock and was shown that the tires were all badly cracked and needed to be replaced. Well I figured that his “certified inspection” must have missed that so I contacted him by e mail to see if he would at least spring for the tires. He wrote back saying that there was nothing he would do, so I told I would have to give him a bad review. He then sent me an e-mail cussing me out and threatening me with legal action if I proceeded. I have kept all the emails and have a copy of the car ad as well as a letter from my mechanic about the condition of the tires so I can back all this up. Do not buy a car from this man.
I feel your pain brother!
The owner of this business Jason Robinson is a total unethical prick. He sold me a lemon jeep that was totally rusted out on the undercarriage. It took thousands of dollars to fix, and to top it off the engine blew up, and I had to have it replaced. The mechanic that replaced it said the engine had easily over 200K on it, when they advertised 70K. When I tried to confront him with the truth, and proof, he basically told me to F-off, and said tough $hit, and good luck going after him. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dealership. I don’t wish what I went through with this dealership on anyone else.
I wish I would’ve read your review first before dealing with this dealer! Long story short, Jason was not willing to meet the titling requirement of my lender. Once I test drove the vehicle (took Tuesday off of work) I wanted to move forward with the purchase. My lender needed a copy of the title showing change of ownership from Golden rule to me. Well Jason sent the wrong title, because Golden Rule was not shown as owner and my lender would not finance without having a copy of the title in his name (the title was still in the previous owners name). I called Jason to tell him the title needs to show up in Golden Rule’s name and he said my bank was wrong and that he could solve the problem with a 10 second call to them. I told him if the title isn’t fixed, then I can’t get the money for the vehicle. He said he sells over $450k a year and has been in the business all his life and never has problems like this unless people use “small town credit unions that don’t know what they’re doing.” He was argumentative and rude on the call, but that isn’t the worst. Later that day he leaves a voicemail saying he’ll take care of the title. No problem. Come Friday my bank still had not received the legit title so I called Jason to cancel the purchase. He said he had the title in his hand and was going to give it to me in person when I came to pick up the Suburban on Saturday. I reminded him that my bank needs a copy before they disperse the money so that won’t do me any good. He then becomes very condescending and belligerent on the phone, telling me that he busted his @$$ to switch the title over for me and that he can’t believe I’m backing out of the sale. I told him that I already clearly explained the requirements of my lender several times and that he neglected to follow very simple instructions. He said he already turned 40 people away from buying the Suburban…he was yelling on the phone at this point, talking over me and not listening to anything I was saying. I told him he wasn’t going to intimidate me into buying a car, especially when I can’t get financed for it because he can’t follow directions…and I said look if you already told 40 people “No” then you won’t have a problem selling the car. He said “you know what, I don’t want your business, you’re an @$$-hole and a jack@$$” and then hung up on me.
BUYER BEWARE – anyone can use a website to convince potential customers that they are honest and sincere, but they can’t hide behind AWFUL customer service and POOR business practices. I would never buy from Golden Rule Auto, nor would I let my friends or family make such a mistake. I’d stay FAR FAR away from this dealership!!!
I’m interested in seeing those emails as I know Jason. Please forward to [email protected]
I have a bunch of e-mails as well as photos documentation, and repair receipts, if you are interested to illustrate exactly who the owner of Golden Rule Auto Sales really is. Any agency interested in these documents, please let me know.
