I walked on the lot to browse, and was immediately struck by the orderliness of the facility, and the selection. I was greeted by Jesus’, who was friendly and eager to help. I looked at a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, which got my attention. I ended up riding it, liking it, and buying it. I was quite impressed with the overall painless buying process, starting with the no haggling below Blue Book pricing, and the low interest financing I got. The paperwork was done quite efficiently. The 3 day “buyer remorse” return guarantee was an added bit of assurance provided, in the event I did not want the car. The entire staff was friendly and professional. Hats off in particular to Jim in Finance, and Managers Brooke and Brad! I would recommend Toyota Of Marin without hesitation.
I needed a car right away and Paula Lindow worked with me right from the get go. I was supposed to see someone else but he could see me when he asked me to come in. So Paula took over and stayed with me the whole time. I found the expereance so much better that when I bought a Saturn many, many years ago. That dealership is no longer in Marin, So I went with Toyota of Marin and got a Corrolla. I had only 2 more payments to go, when I had an accident which my insurance decleared it “TOTALED” so I had to get another car and fast. I got on line and Toyota of Marin was the 1st one to get back to me. So I wnet with them. Paula made me feel like I was a true “family member”, NOT just someone to sell a car to. Every after I purchased the car – Camery – she has kept in touched. Just to make sure I was still o.k. with this car.
I am very happy with this car. I’m looking fwd. to our 1st oil change, which should be soon.
Thank you

My sister is a single mom in her 30’s with two kids, she waited 6 hours or so at this dealership because they told her they could get her a car with a very low interest rate. So she waited and waited and eventually traded in her vehicle and got the new car in the end. Also she had just been in an accident that bruised her spinal cord from the backlash of the airbag and is in constant pain 24/7, so waiting this long for her was very difficult. After a week or so they called her and told her they could not get her the interest rate originally discussed and the lending was not approved………keep in mind they never told her that this was a possibility when they were trying to sell her the car and do you think she would be waiting there all day in pain if she thought she would not get the deal discussed originally? she could not afford the new payment, therefore they wanted the car back. she tried calling them back several times to discuss options and they would not return her calls. Not until my father called did they get a response from their finance department. My father ended up having to put down several thousand dollars more as a down payment and put his name on loan to get the low interest rate. Based on my sister’s experience, the people at this dealership are sexist and quick to take advantage of women. i recommend going to petaluma toyota dealer as they are much nicer and faster there and will not take advantage of a woman, much less a struggling single mother with two kids.
The sales manager (Roy) tried to give me the high pressure sales speech. Avoid this guy at all cost. After one minute of his BS I just wanted to get out of there. Then I called one of the salesmen the next day to try and work something out and never called me back. I have bought cars here before, but no more.
Have a 2000 Cambry V-6 with 60,000 mi. The starter went bad so took it to Toyota of Marin. Also had them do the 60k check-up. Got the car back and within a day it began to shift itself into reverse whenever forward speed decreased to about 5 mph. Checked all fuses and noticed that the licenses plate and truck lights weren’t getting electricity, checked its wires and noticed that three wires going into the truck lid were cut. I Spliced the three wires and the lights began
working and the spontaneous shifting into reverse stopped. The Check Engine light
was still on though, the fault code indicating the EGR flow was excessive and some
manufacture/Instruction fault. This fault is keeping me from passing the smog
check and hence getting the car registered in California. With some research I’ve
learned that these fault codes, no matter how much reapir and new parts you pay
for, will eventually come back once they start. I bought this car new from them
and paid dearly for the service. The wires were cut in their service dept and the
onboard computer hasn’t been right since.
:mad:I was going to type a lengthy review about my horrible experience, but instead of boring you with details I am going to get to the point ( which is going to be a long point)
The Receptionists there act as if they have something better to do then to be bothered with answering your calls or your stupid questions. You have to practically beg, to have someone email you back. No one tells you that your sales rep is out sick before you drive all the from San Mateo county. The sales rep ( Felicia Young) that finally comes to help you is very nice and happy to see you, but then cracks a racial joke about her “rice rocket” when clearly she can see we are of the Asian decent. Very nice loan rep, which is very surprising. The service maintenance manger was very nice the first time we met him and then the next time a total jerk.
Now this is the worse of them all, Diane Stone, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER who you would think would be the nicest and greatest person there, because they are after all THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER. Well she is a total capital B. She is the nastiest, meanest person there, and it reflects in the way she looks. Now I’m not a person that judges another by the way they look, but I am a true believer that if you are a mean person, then it will eventually reflect in the way you look. She has the most wrinkles that I have ever seen in my entire life (except maybe on a shar pei), and to me that just shows how often she must knit her brows together or how often her lips are pursed or turned down. She must truly be a very unhappy person to treat people the way she does, or she is just plain evil . Anyway, she talks a mile a minute and does not let you get a word in edgewise, she doesn’t listen, she lies, wastes your time and does not take the time to explain things to you in a nice and courtesy manner something that I would think that the CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER would do.
My most favorite person there was Dennis, he also works in the service maintenance area and took his time to explain things to my husband and I. I am giving the star to him. If Diane had taken the time to explain things in a nice manner like Dennis then i would not be here complaining, because all the rest of the crap I could have lived with, but after my experience with her…….well all I can say is I feel very sorry for her she is truly sad sad sad person that takes her sad sad sad life out on everyone else.
As for any future business with them from me or anyone else I know. It’s not going to happen. My husbands has been shopping around for a Toyota Camry, but I think we are going to go Honda or GM. GM has been doing some great things with their cars lately. Also, my son was just asking me about Toyota Marin because his truck (the one I encouraged him to buy from the last dealer I purchased my winstar from) is on its last leg, well you know what I told him. Oh, and most of the positive reviews on Yelp.com are from the employees and all they are about is the hot coffee and the wifi, big deal when the customer service sucks. Read the one about the woman who’s tires blew out on the freeway with her daughter in the back seat. I wish I had.
I started by searching for used cars online. I found a car that I was interested in at Toyota Marin. I indicated my interest via an online form and I received a call from them immediately. My husband and I went to see the car over the weekend. First of all, the used cars are posted for sale on sites like Auto Trader before they have been inspected and serviced and cleaned. So we found ourselves looking at newly traded in vehicles that still had not been serviced and cleaned including the car we were interested in which had obvious cosmetic problems that the picture didn’t show. The sales guy listened to what I was looking for in a car and he steered us to a used Volvo. It looked like it had been taken care of and he assured me that they don’t trade in lemons and they don’t sell them. He assured me that the vehicle would be fully inspected , that it was guaranteed and they would repair anything that they found that would be a problem and we would get a report to indicate what they found and what they did fix and what they didn’t fix and we could look at it before taking the car off the lot. We never did get that report. He assured us that they check carfax and that they are a dealership with integrity, offering a 3 day return although I can tell you now that 3 days usually isn’t enough time to discover the problems that you will inevitably find if you buy a used car from Toyota Marin. When there was some problem with financing, they tried to steer me to some crappy little car that had nothing to do with my original needs and when I said okay, thanks but no thanks and began to leave, he had me wait and suddenly they were able to finance the car. I wish now that I had kept walking.
They kept the car for the inspection, cleaning and service. When my husband picked it up, he was not given the carfax report nor was he given the inspection report. A week after we got the car, the check engine light went on. We brought it back and Dennis in service sent it to Volvo of Marin and repairs were supposedly made. We never received the diagnostic report from Volvo. However, since the repair was covered, we figured that was it. However, 6 weeks later, the check engine light went on again and the car was bucking and stuttering. We were told by Toyota of Marin to go to the nearest Volvo dealership since we bought a warranty from Toyota Marin that would only be honored if we went to a certified dealership. Volvo in Walnut Creek told us that all five ignition coils were cracked, one badly, and they highly recommended replacing all five ignition coils and the spark plugs. The spark plugs? Toyota of Marin was supposed to do an inspection and tune up and replace everything basic like oil filters and spark plugs. And yet, there we were having to replace the spark plugs along with five very obviously cracked ignition coils. When Volvo called our Warranty company, they refused to pay for the repairs.
So not only does Toyota Marin sell lemons they also sell useless and bad Warranties on used cars. So far, the repairs have cost us 900 dollars plus 90 for a rental. Our awesome finance deal? Our car payments are 350 dollars a month. When I called the General Manager of Toyota of Marin and left a detailed message of what happened, he never returned my call. The sales guy, a floor manager in the used car division, Jordan Sanchez, returned my husband’s repeated calls five days after our initial call to tell my husband that it’s just “normal wear and tear.” Normal wear and tear on a car we have had for 6 weeks? You don’t get five cracked ignition coils after six weeks of using a car. Every service person who we have talked to from Svennsons to Volvo in Walnut Creek to our local repairman in Lafayette all said that’s bogus. They have all said we got screwed. So avoid Toyota of Marin.
DO NOT SHOP AT TOYOTA MARIN!!!!!
