I contacted Kia Gwinnett Place in Duluth, GA on Friday, August 21, 2009, via internet regarding my interest in exchanging my qualified ‘clunker’ for an eligible car on their lot. I spoke with Walter Mercedes on the phone that afternoon, and made arrangements to come in and make a deal. Early Saturday afternoon, I drove my 1995 Jeep Cherokee 2WD, 6-cylinder automatic, to the dealership. I brought 3 years of insurance cards and tags to show continuous coverage and registration. When I sat down with Ben to look at the numbers, I was informed that they were no longer participating in the government program. Ben invited me to pay the entire amount through their financing program. I got up and walked out. I feel they wasted the time I had to find an eligible vehicle, because they agreed to a ‘clunker’ deal over the phone, but ‘switched’ the deal once I was in the showroom. Perhaps this is the way this dealership does business with everyone, or maybe this is an indication of their treatment of women – as there were no women working in this Kia dealership
Ben and Walter were a great team. They aswered all my questions. They even offered me the model in the show room. I hadn’t even thought of that. They were very confident in their product and let me take a new model home for my husband to test drive. They know everything about the KIAs they sell.
they were very good at asking questions about what I wanted and worked with me to discover which model was best, as well as which model would be a stretch but do-able.
I was able to participate in the special deals and even got season tickets to the Falcons!
I am very impressed with Ben and Walter and very impressed with my Sportage!
I look forward to my first scheduled maintenance but will have to wait 6 months….I am used to a 3 month interval.. I am already saving money, and time :).
