I bought a new Honda Civic from them back in May of this year. It then got rear-ended and totaled in July. Last week I went back to them to get another new vehicle without going to anyone else. I test drove a CRV and decided that I wanted to lease one. Their first offer to me was $449/month and when I was not interested in that they came back with $399/month. I actually contemplated that but decided to go home and think about it. Before leaving they were trying to pressure me into signing but thankfully I didn’t. The next day I did some research and the price seemed high and when I asked for a complete breakdown of all the numbers I did not get that but they now came down to $373/month.
I contacted Bernardi Honda and asked for a quote with the same exact terms and the exact same car. Their very first quote was $315/month. I leased my car from there and then I texted the salesperson to let him know I was all set and they tried to match it with $309/month. I think that is shameful and shady that a customer who just bought a car from there two months prior and was back because of horrible car accident was trying to be taken advantage of. That is a horrible way to treat a customer.
I had just bought a used Honda fromLundgren and this was my first experience with the service department. My car had a few minor maintenance problemsfixed, an accessory installed, and it had a full detailing. This is my review of that experience as awhole.
On Monday afternoon I went to drop off my car andpick up a loaner vehicle, which they offer free, John Valintine assisted me inthe service area. I also encountered many other service employees and they wereall kind and helpful.
I had typed up a very thoroughand in-depth list of any concerns I had about the car and any issues that Iwanted looked at. Due to previous badexperiences, I was sure to make notes of everything this time. This list included the obvious things thecar was there for such as the alignment it needed, the “spa day,” and my formerstereo removal from my old car, but I also had things on there that I wanted re-checkedout of skepticism or fear, I’m not quite sure. Either way, John was great and he asked if he could keep the list tomake sure everything got done. He alsoasked me specifics about each individual service that was to be performed andtyped it all up in the work order. Iwas then given a decent loaner car until my car was ready to be picked up thefollowing day. When I went to pick upmy car, John went over everything on the checklist and explained to me how theywere handled. He gave me my spare keysthat I didn’t have before, got me an owners manual for my car that I wanted, and explained the other overall checks they do anytime a car comes in forservice. He patiently went over the entireworksheet, explaining what the different numbers and colors meant and explainedwhat was good, bad, or really, really bad! Obviously my car didn’t have anything but good, but it was nice to knowthat they check all these things complimentary on all of your cars visits. John also said that they had found thetransmission fluid to be a bit dirty, so they went ahead and changed that too. When it came time to pay for the I-PodInterface I had purchased, the price was more than what I was originally quotedand what I had on a worksheet at home. Itold John what price I was quoted, and he spoke with the service manager (Ibelieve), and they quickly worked it out so that everything was just as itshould be. I walked out the doorsmiling, and got an even bigger smile when I saw my gorgeous insanely shiningcar in front of me. It was so shiny Icould see myself in it! Black looks sogood when it’s cleaned it’s amazing! Theinterior was shampooed, and totally washed everywhere. The dashboard was so shiny and clean it wasreflecting in my windshield. My carlooked so good I hated driving it, and I didn’t even smoke a cigarette the wholeway home because I didn’t want to risk getting ash anywhere!
I was very happy with the way I was treated by theservice department, and watched how everybody else was treated. It seemed that all the customers weretreated with the same respect and patience that I was, and from what I saw, everyone seemed to be pleased with their service also.
I feel that I should add that Lundgren is not too great at getting back to or handling minor issues that happen after the car is sold. Although they will acknowledge you, getting an answer isn’t something that comes easily.
Hopefully this changes. More to follow.
Lundgren Honda changed my opinion of car dealerships. I was very wary of buying a car again, and had my guard up about every aspect due to previous bad experiences. I was treated so well by Daniel, my salesman, that I ended up really enjoying the experience this time around. He constantly answered my questions, even the repeats, and was always willing to explain anything I was unsure about. Along with that, he really worked with me to teach me about Lundgren Honda and their methods of doing business, which made me more comfortable because they seem to actually care about their customers and the cars they sell even after they drive off the lot, which you don’t get at many places. It’s also nice that it’s family owned and run because I think that makes a difference in how customers are treated. The employees were all well dressed, and the showroom was very clean with many different informational areas set up. It’s nice being in the showroom too because you can look at a car without having 4 salesmen hanging on you throughout the process. Someone may ask if you need any assistance, but they also leave you to browse too. The showroom also has three separate waiting rooms; a whole closed in kids playarea, an office area with a computer station set up for customer use, anda room with magazines and a TV. Apparently the whole building also has wi-fi so you can work anywherewhile waiting if you have your laptop. There were also snacks, coffee, bagels, and various other complimentary treats. In addition, they have a huge service area, withsomething like 13 service bays, so getting your car serviced is never a waitinggame. Along with that, they offer freeloaner cars while your car is being serviced which is very convenient when youhave a job or school and need to get there, but also need to get your carfixed. They also offer 24 hour test drives which are great because you really get to see how a car drives while you are driving alone, in your own neighborhood, on your normal commute, etc. Lundgren also offers free roadside assistance to customers, which is a great feature to know that you have available in case you lock your keys in your car, run out of gas, or something worse. It’s especially nice living in New England because with our weather, you just never know what may happen!
Everybody at Lundgren was friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and treated me with respect. I was never once hassled with any pushysales gimmicks. Nobody tried to get meinto a car I wasn’t interested in, nobody tried to sell me anything I didn’twant, and I wasn’t at all led to believe I need any service that I didn’tneed. I was always treated well, callsand emails were returned promptly, and I got a very fair price on a very nicecar and a fair value for my trade. They don’t do any price haggling, which is actually quite nice because the price you see is what they will sell the car for, so you don’t have to worry if maybe they would have gone lower. Lundgren Honda really knows how to treat their customers and they sellquality vehicles at fair prices. I’dhighly recommend Lundgren Honda to anybody looking to buy a new or usedvehicle. Even if it’s not a Honda itwould be worth stopping there just to see what they have available because thesalesmen, service, and pricing are so great. Stop down and see Daniel if you are looking for a car, he is excellent! He dealt with me and all my emails and phonecalls with my insane questions, while also handling my skepticism about thewhole buying process and made it so that I became comfortable and confident inthe purchase that I made. It really wasa great experience and I am very happy with my purchase and happy that I chose Lundgren Honda!
