I took my truck to them and they installed a new fuel pump. A while after i got my truck back a check engine light came on and I had since moved out of state. I paid $100 to a local garage to find out why the light was on and they told me the tank was not installed properly and it was leaking fumes at the top of the tank. I made an appointment at Paul Masse since the repair was under warranty and drove 2 hours to their dealer to get the problem fixed. I arrived at the dealer at 7:15 am and at noon they said my truck was ready. When I got in the truck I smelled gas but thought it was the mechanics clothes or maybe he had gas on his hands and touch the steering wheel.
I started my truck and hit the highway. Over the course of 10 miles i was smelling gas so strong I had to pull over. I got out and looked under my truck at the gas tank and it was spewing gas, the entire tank was covered in gasoline. I was shocked, one spark and I could have died a fiery death. I was also in shock that I took it back to them because they did not repair my truck the first time and the second time I was put in a life threatening situation.
I got my truck back to the dealer and in a couple of hours they say they fixed the problem. Imagine that it took 3 repairs to do one job, I took a day out of work, put my life at risk.
Bottom line, I recommend you get your vehicle fixed anywhere that Paul Masse. I paid GM rates to get a GM repair and felt I got a mechanic working on my car that should not even be allowed to work in a garage at all.
$90 an hour they charge and put my life at risk.
This started out as a routine warranty issue with replacement of the catalytic converters (rattling noise) quite routine. Picked up vehicle later that day, now the check engine light was on. Called the advisor right away, he said that the light should reset itself (give it a few days maximum), which we did. Upon bringing vehicle back, were told that the O2 sensors were both bad, and needed replacing (at my expense) I felt this was unfair, that they let my wife drive the vehicle out of the facility with a check engine light burning. I brought my vehicle to a locally respected, and recommended ASE certified repair garage and was going to have them R&R the O2 sensors anyway…..because I was not going to give that sleaze ball operation any of my hard earned cash !! WELL GUESS WHAT ? I was told to come pick up my vehicle, and there would be NO CHARGE ! Paul Masse’s “forgot” to plug the sensors back in when the cats were replaced the first time ! The tech at the garage in Barrington just plugged them back in, reset the codes, and told me to have a nice day ! I just wish Mr Masse would give two $h!t$ about his operation. I hope that someday GM cancels his contract like they did alot of honest businessmen back when we bailed their a$$e$ out ! I was told that this operation was shady, and I still used them anyway (close & conveinent).
I am only one guy, but I have a big mouth, which I will use everytime I can (being an outside sales rep in the automotive business) to tell folks……STAY CLEAR OF PAUL MASSE !!:mad:
My Husband and I recently purchased an 07 Chevy Silverado from here, we worked with Paul D. The service we received from the whole dealership was amazing. We had been to many other dealerships (small guys and big guys) and found the attention and service here to be above the mark. They helped us every step of the way and I felt very comfortable purchasing a vehicle from here and when it comes time for us to purchase another vehicle we will definately return. Paul was very informative from start to finish. We didnt feel pushed or bullied into the sale but we werent chasing them either it was a very even level playing field. 😀
The main concern of mine that evertyone shoudl know about is when they start talking numbers. They got me financing, from a local bank. The numbers they came up with didn’t match the interest rate they told me it was. Fortunately I used alot of online loan calculators before going. I told them that the numbers didn’t amke sense and there was something terribly wrong with the math. After 3 trips back and forth from my table to the back of the showroom, finally they gave me a good rate and the numbers macthed the numbers I got from loan calculators.
There was also alot of pressure to buy right then and there. There was an implication, not explicitly stated, that if I left the deal would no longer be valid. This troubled me greatly and I mentioned that if the numbers didn’t add up I was walking, period.
If you plan to go there I recommend:
1). Using online calculators to get a monthly payment on various loan amounts with various rates. This will prevent you from being ruined by their fuzzy math
2). Don’t be afraid to push back because I KNOW they are trying to work you when you get there. Be straight forward, be agressive, and don’t take their first answer ON ANYTHING.
THEY FLAT OUT LIED ON THE FINANCING, GIVING FALSE INFORMATION ON THE INTEREST RATE, AND THEY KNEW IT, THE SALESMAN, AS WELL AS THE GIRL IN THE FINANCE OFFICE, WHO I BELIEVE WAS RELATED TO THE SALES GUY. WHAT A JOKE, ..BY FAR THE WORST AND MOST DISHONEST SALES EXPERIENCE EVER , AND I WILL DO NOTHING BUT MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW IT TOO ….WELLINGTON IS DISHONEST AND HAS NO BUSINESS SELLING AUTOS…I HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS WHOM HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AS WELL.
I went in on a Saturday, and I drove up and down Rt. 44 in East Providence/Seekonk looking for a car for my fiance. I told the salesperson I was doing some reconnaissance. I had seen in the paper that they had three Pontiac G6’s for between 11988 and 12988. So I really wanted to take a look at those, and I saw a silver model with no price on it, but only 15k miles. So I assumed that was the 12988 car, especially with the other G6 next to it showing 11988. I told him that she may like the car, and I was just checking around for now. Well needless to say, he started with “When can she come down? Why not today? Etc….” I told him she was at work, and we would come down when she had some time.
She got excited when I mentioned the car had only 15k on it, and was factory certified (extending the warranty to 4 years, 48k miles bumper-to-bumper) and got out of work early to come take a look at it. She is into cars as much as I am, so she knows what she is talking about, and I let her run the show as much as possible, but it seems my earlier visit in the day put it into the salesman’s head that it was MY decision, not HERS. So he talked to me, more than my fiance.
After taking it for an extensive drive, she really liked the car, but we wanted to go look at a couple other cars around that I saw during the day before we made a decision. We didn’t see anything else, and decided that the G6 was the best deal for us. The salesman offered to take it down to 11988 from the original 12988 if we made the deal today, which is a typically pushy salesman gimmick, but we wanted to jump on it because of the low miles. So we worked out a deal for 11988 and 795 for an aftermarket sunroof. At this point they asked for a deposit, and I asked to see a Carfax report, for which he said he would have on Monday when we came back to do the financing paperwork. We left after putting $1000 as a refundable deposit and we were on our way.
After going home that night, we looked on the website of the dealer to find that the car was offered at 11988 on the website, and the carfax was already on there, something the dealer could have pulled up in 5 seconds. Needless to say, I was shocked when I saw that the carfax had shown the car was in an accident that set the airbags off, and caused “SEVERE DAMAGE”. Monday morning I went into the dealer as they opened, and asked about these two items. The salesman told me he gave me the “Online Price” which was lower than the on-the-lot price, which was bull because the other two cars had the 11988 price shown on them as well on the website. I told him I would take one of the other two cars on the lot, which had clean carfax reports, but because I was settling for a car with 26k miles (an ’07) as opposed to the car with 15k (an ’06). That I would like to have the sunroof installed for free (so in essence, I was asking for 795 off). They said they would get back to me, and at lunchtime offered me 300 off, rather than the whole 795. I said forget it, and I would come in with my fiance to get the deposit back.
They kept us at the dealer for an hour when we came back to get the deposit, going back and forth between the salesman and his manager. They both asked, “What can we do to close this deal?” I reiterated I wanted the sunroof for free. The manager said no, so we finally got our deposit back and left.
Since that point, I have gotten phone calls, with the salesman and manager caving to the deal I asked for. Too little, too late. I have now rethought everything with my fiance, and we are buying a nicer, more expensive car from a much more reputable dealer.
