Needed an oil change and had an airbag light on on the dash in my wife’s BMW Z4. My wife was the first car in the service line early in the AM. 1.5 hours before she’s suppose to pick it up, they call and say they need three more hours JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. So, apparently it takes a specialized BMW mechanic all day and $430 to find out WHY a lights on. Who knows how much it would have cost to fix, the “TECH” had worked on it for an hour and couldn’t say. Total bill $255 for an oil change and “Diagnosis” that was worthless. Wish I’d have gone somewhere else….oh wait, I STILL HAVE TOO! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere
Bought a 2011 BMW 135i via phone and internet from Tomkinsion BMW. Ordered in June, 201 and received in September, 2010 at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC.
Both Mr. Cahill and the sales manager Mr. McMaken are men of their word first and foremost. I never set foot in the state and all negotiations and information were over the phone or via email. The transaction was flawless, the communication was timely, the service was friendly and competent.
I highly recommend anyone contacting Mr. Cahill who is in the market for a BMW and wishes to deal with someone of integrity.
Highly recommended.
I purchased a Trailblazer from Thompkinson BMW in the FW 69 Automall just before Thanksgiving. It has been the worst purchase I have ever made. Within weeks of buying the vehicle (Dec.6) the passenger seatbelt broke. After trying to work with the Thompkinson service department to get the seatbelt fixed, I had to make phone calls, check on shipments and get the part after being handed off to a different service department. As of January 17th, the seatbelt is STILL broke.
The morning of Jan. 17th the SUV failed to start. After being promised by the salesmen that the vehicle was “road ready” and came with a Powertrain Warranty we felt confident we were making a wise decision. Now I just feel duped. As the vehicle simply won’t START after been purchased around 2 months ago obviously a big problem was missed in the inspection they claim to put every vehicle they sell through. (NOTE: When in the process of buying the vehicle we discovered that the rear windshield wiper was broken, the rear brakes were at 32% and several rust spots were present. All of this was not mentioned until we asked for an inspection report. ASK FOR THAT REPORT OTHERWISE THEY WONT MENTION OTHER ISSUES.)
I talked with the manager there, Chris Cook. I was basically given a slew of excuses including “we can’t predict when a vehicle will break down” which was offensive (I am not an idiot and well aware of that) they wouldn’t even LOOK at the vehicle without a ton of fees to see if the problem was covered in the Powertrain Warranty. Instead he offered to sell me an extended warranty that would NOT cover the current issue or do a new trade in. I would NEVER purchase another vehicle through Tomkinson Autoland ever again.
Another factor he mentioned that makes me wary to ever buy a vehicle through Tompkinson again was hid admission, “If we paid for every break down that happened after the purchase of a vehicle here we wouldn’t be in business.” While I get his point it made me think….how many other people are experiencing issues with vehicles purchased from them? And if there are so many that they “wouldn’t be in business” why isn’t Tompkinson doing something about that issue?
Purchasing a vehicle from Tomkinson BMW was the most positive automobile purchase I’ve experienced. The staff was knowledgable, friendly, and professional. I explained to the saleperson what I was looking for and was quickly directed to a vehicle well-suited for what I was looking for. I am extremely happy with my purchase and always recommend not only BMW but Tomkinson in particular~this dealership raises the bar for customer service and satisfaction.
Bought vehicle with coffee spilled down doors and over all filthy. They promised detail, nav disk, and dvd headsets. Took in for appointment detailer left early, nav disk not in bcz they are nolonger certified to get direct and have to buy after market (they will not get it from other local dealer that has it in stock for me), headsets from China! Parts not by manufacturer, and not living up to promises. Should I mention wrong owners manual and people refusing adjustments because of it? Very disappointed in what use to be a reputable seller.
I made a deal for a Van for over $18,000 after they gave me my trade-in and I signed for it . I told my son and he found in on the internet and it was the same vin number for the asking price of only 16,995. I called and had a fit but Chris Cook said, to bad basically. I stopped payment on my check and said, sue me and left. The management did call me and we did make a deal, but it was a sham and they just got caught. I have found that is how Chris Cook works. He was at Glenbrook Dodge and he pulled the same scams their. He also always says that they have a buyer for your car, we will get you a loaner. Don’t ever do that he will have your deposit , your car and you will be up the creek without a paddle. If Tomkinsons wants to be a reputable dealer at all, they will let Chris Cook go tomorrow. Avoid him at all cost, he gives used car salesman a worse name than they already had.
I am sorry to hear this! I worked with Chris Cook too and he basically gave me excuses and the same “too bad, sorry about your luck” answer. It’s sad when people treat their customers this way.
I should have know better and walked away when they asked for a down payment of 1000$ but with the agreement they would not cash the check.
To get the car down to the 450$ per month mark, they could not accept my van on trade. I exchange they cut me a check for 900$ to cover the cost of three months worth of payments.
I had currently purchased a car from Tomlinson automotive group, with the agreement on the payment would be no more than 450$ per month. A sales rep offered to give me a warranty package that would bring my payment to 591$ per month.
The deal he offered to me was he would cut me a check for the difference between 450$ and 591$ for the first three months, and at that point I could cancel the warranty to bring my payment back to 450$ per month. The finance officer Bret told me the payment could be even cheaper if I sell my van in that period as my credit would improves.
After three months I went in the cancel the warranty and the third party warranty group would send a check to capital one with in 6 weeks. This means I would have that higher payment for a short time. I called capital one to check on the process 2/18/09 and found out that would go towards the principle but it would not affect my payments.
Looking further into the deal I realized the warranty cost 2050$ which is not even in the ball park to bring the payment to the 450$ agreed mark.
I left a message for Bret the finance officer 2/18/09, and spoke with him on 2/24/09 about the info I received from capital one and he verified the information and apologized if the info I received from sales was incorrect.
I also copied other parties involved just to let them know how I feel and to let other know how they did business with me.
At this time it looks like I will have to give up the car with a major dent in my credit, I just want other to know how they do business. This has been a good lesion on my trusting ways.
