Ever felt like you were sitting on a giant vibrator sander? That’s the feeling I was getting when driving my wife’s Honda Accord. I took the car into our mechanic first, who we have used for 25+ years. He found a rear motor mount had failed, so we had it replaced with a Honda Motor Mount. Vibrations did not go away. He suggested we take it in to Sunset Honda. So we went to Sunset Honda, big mistake. Honda had the car from 9:30 am until 5:30 pm, they said they found that the vibraion was from a misalignment of a pad under the engine, realigned it, said the problem was almost gone, but not quite. Suggested we replace the actuator solenoid on the rear motor mount, didn’t have one in stock but I could special order it. I did, another big mistake. Don’t order items unless you can take them back. Solenoid did no good, still vibrates, but they won’t refund because it’s a special order part. The problem is still there. They don’t find and fix problems, they are only parts changers. We were looking to replace this car after repairs were complete and get a new car. We will, but you can bet its not going to be from Sunset Honda.
I had several terrible experiences at Sunset Honda Service. I’ll list my issues with this business:
Astronomical rates. Much more expensive than any place I’ve taken my car to.
Long wait time for simple maintenance.
Once when I went to pay the bill was $100 more than they has quoted me and they wouldn’t back down when I pointed out the error.
For routine maintenance they do everything, every time regardless of necessity.
They installed my timing belt badly so that I had to bring it back the next day. They took care of it, but still, for $400 I expect better.
The lady at the counter asked to please review them favorably when contacted, as they were up for some promotion! How tacky!
It took me a while to learn my lesson that this place is out to screw you! Why, you might ask, was I so slow? Well, I was unhappy with my previous garage (Landis) and figured I’d pay a little more and get the best service for my car. Well, they aren’t the best. In fact, they’re terrible.
I take my Honda to Dave’s Automotive now, and I couldn’t be happier.
