I own a 2006 TL “without” the navigation system. My husband really wanted the car, but we agreed that it would belong to me. The entire time, I had to emphasize to the Salesperson that he was to please direct answers to ME and it seemed to be a struggle. I REALLY loved the Navigation System and was talked out of it by my husband, because at the time, it was not a necessity for me. Our Sales Rep. interrupted and said that it can be added later…though it would be costly( just under $2K),-the entire console would have to be replaced ( which justified the cost). Because of that, I thought well, at least there is an option. 3 Months Later, I unexpectedly became a Realtor and went back to take advantage of the ” The Option” and the Salesperson claimed amnesia and lied and told me and my husband that he would Never say that, it had never been an option. I even spoke with the service maneger and he concurred that it IS NOT DONE. Bottom Line: ” He Lied to Get the Sale!”. Lastly, I had a trade-in with a brand new Transmission that cost $3K. They only gave me $500 towards my new purchase. I’m sure they sold it for at least that. I will NEVER purchase from THIS location again. Not very ethical……
Pohanka Acura was recommended to me by USAA Bank. I first contacted them over the internet MONTHS ago about possibly getting out of my current car and into something new. Pohanka Acura is located about 3 hours from where I live, so I was also in contact with about 3 other local dealers during these months. Throughout these months, the only dealer that seriously expressed an interest in helping me get the deal I needed was Pohanka. I had a circumstance that all the other dealers told me was impossible to solve. Pohanka continually kept in contact with me to update me on what they could do that month for my situation. The day before New Years, Lenny Gonzales, the Sales Manager called me and told me personally what they could do to take care of the situation. I was shocked when he told me the number, so naturally I took the number to my local Acura guys. They said that there was no way that Pohanka or any other dealer would ever do that deal. I called Jennifer Kim, the Sales Associate that Lenny assigned me to, and she assured me over and over that they were the numbers. I insisted on talking to Lenny again. He insisted OVER and OVER that they were the numbers. They also insisted that they would not change when I arrived there, or when I walked into finance.
SO, we drove 3 hours from Philadelphia. Walked in to our lunch time appointment, on SUNDAY (can’t do that in PA!), and wrapped everything up by 2pm. It was a totally seamless deal from my current car to my new TSX. Nothing changed, as they said. The number Lenny gave me on the phone was the number I walked out of finance with. Most importantly, they got me out of a situation that I could have been in for years to come.
If you are looking for a new Acura (because I can’t speak for their other dealerships) this is the only place you should be looking.
Thanks for a great start to my New Year!!
Negotiated a price over the phone – traveled over 60 miles one way to test drive the car. After driving the car the sales associate and his manager presented the car at a higher price than agreed upon the day before. The manager decided to come down closer to the agreed upon price only by removing the certification. Presented me with a montly payment without performing a credit check. After they found out I had my own financing the negotiation stopped.
I bought a 2001 Acura TL from them back in 2004. It wasn’t a great experience but not too bad either. Went there 2 years ago to change the tranny under warranty and the whole experience was great (Jerry was the service advisor). I usually take my cars to Goodyear Gemini for state inspections and oil changes and to Koons Honda in Manassas for more serious issues. 3 weeks ago I had the 105k major service done at Koons (timing belts, water pump, side engine mount) mainly because of the price $1000 vs $1700 at Pohanka. They did a very good job and was told that the car is in great shape and there’s nothing else that needs to be replaced. Couple of weeks later, the state inspection is due and since Pohanka is 2 minutes up the road and I just received a Free State Inspection coupon from them, I went there to do it. BAD IDEA! Dropped the car for state inspection and a brake fluid flush around 9 AM, I get a call from Tom Smith the service advisor around noon. He tells me the car failed inspection and I will have to replace the front engine mount (says it’s leaking hydraulic oil?!? but i don’t see any oil spots under the car) and lower ball joints to pass inspection. The cost to fix all this at Pohanka? about $950 before taxes and shop fees. Whole thing smelled fishy since I didn’t notice anything abnormal vibrations when accelerating hard or any noise from the ball joints, plus the car had just been inspected 3 weeks ago at Honda. So I tell him I decline the repairs and I start calling around for some quotes. First call to Goodyear Gemini in Centreville, service advisor says “I won’t call names but there’s a lot of Acura’s coming in that failed inspection at certain dealership in the area because of lower ball joints and when they come here for a quote we find no problems with them and cars pass inspection without any need for repairs.”!!! Go figure…how many Acura dealerships are close by? Just Pohanka. So being on the way home, I stopped by NTB in Chantilly for a quote, they inspected the car for about 15 minutes and then told me there’s nothing wrong with the front engine mount or the lower ball joints. They see no need to replace them!!! Unfortunately they don’t do state inspections but can pretty much guarantee it will pass. They suggest to remove the rejection sticker and take it to a different station for inspection. So I take their advice, stop by my house to take down the sticker and drive straight to Goodyear Gemini in Centreville. One hour and $16 later the car passed state inspection. Lesson learned: a free state inspection at Pohanka Acura will cost you $1000!!!
