I found this place by accident, but i will never forget it. The salesman that greeted me appeared to be a little young, however his product knowledge was very impressive. I felt he answered all my questions and shared information with me that I had not considered. I have had some credit problems in the past and was not really sure I could get financing, but Luis assurred me that they could get my credit restablished and payments and down payment where I could manage it without having to eat TOP RAMEN. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, even after I bought the car. They help me transfer all of my belongings from my trade to my new car. They also gave me what I wanted for my old car and lowered the price of theirs to meet my monthly payments. These guys are great and made this experience a joy, Thanks oregon car connection.

Two Thumbs Up!!!These guys are awesome. I got the car I wanted. I have been searching craigslist for two weeks and these guys were the best. Especially Michael. Thanks for everything. I think I must have looked at over two dozen vehicles in person after searching craigslist. Most of them were just plain disgusting. I am so Happy that I met Michael and his boss was cool too.
i forgot to give michael five stars on everything. He is so awesome.
I had been looking for a car for about two weeks, i only had 1000 dollars as down payment and a 682 credit score witch is not that bad. the car i really wanted was an Eclise witch are not that expensive i went to about 4 other dealers before going to Oregon Car Connection and all the ones i found were way over priced and the wanted 2000 or more down.
just when i was about to quit and keep my POS 1990 honda my friend told me about OCC i though to my self here we go again when i got there i ran into a real salesman LUIS he was dress like a pro he was bilingual and did a really good job now i have a new Eclise and they even bough my POS honda for a good price. this guys are no joke when they say they can help.you better believe they can they are the real deal and Luis was the best salesman i met in the 2weeks i spend waseting my time at all the other dealers on 82nd i am so happy with this guys i would even send my grandma to them lol thank you Luis and all of the Oregon Car Connection staff you guys rock!!!!!!!!!!
I never ever write reviews for anything. But I have to say that after today. I have to tell everyone how great my salesman was who helped me get a car. I dont have the best of credit and I didnt have the best trade in. But Micky was a nice guy and helped me get a car anyway. I can be proud of the car I drive now. Micky even put the first $20 in my tank for me. Thanks Micky for everything and I will not hesitate to tell everyone how nice you are. My brother will be in this Saturday to see you.
I found my truck at Oregon Car Connection. Luis was very nice he spoke spanish with me. He helped me get a loan for my truck. Thanks.
I’m sorry to say the good reviews here are for sure fake. This is a pretty funny story overall. I had called and spoken to 2 different people before driving down to OCC. When I arrived on the lot I was greated by ‘Tony’ who explained the vehicle I was looking for was not on the lot that day. Tony is a late 30’s black man who claims to be a local union plumber. Day 1 he said he was brand new at the lot, day 2 he said he had been working there over 1 year (A google search of reviews show Tony has been employed by OCC since somtime near 2009, not ‘New’ LOL). Tony also discussed how he was of all people the ‘low pressure customer advocate’ at the lot LOL. Hold on though, we’ll talk more about Tony in a minute.
Jared H Blick is appx 32, lives in Vancouver. Jared is also related to Gary Blick, who is 55 years old and lives in Amboy, WA. Jared H Blick is also related to Jacob Blick, who is 33 and his older brother. Jared is the used car manager and hoped to sell me a vehicle with a broken windshield, missing interior and broken interior pieces.
Tony wanted to get directly to the credit application, I decided we’d go for a test drive. Upon returning to the lot I noticed the broken windshield and several other broken pieces. As we walked inside to begin the paperwork I had a change of heart and decided the vehicle was not for me. Tony got up and stated ‘I knew you were a Jack’ and walked away upset. I followed behind asking him to clarify his statement to which he responded ‘ Don’t pick a fight, just go shop elsewhere’.
Tony, you picked the fight by acting like a 2yr old child when I decided I didn’t feel comfortable giving you my business. You further aggravated the situation when you called me a derogatory name and attempted to talk down to me. Fact is you’re a low baller, you don’t make 7000.00/month selling used cars at a sh*t dealer on 82nd. You need to be honest with yourself before you try to lie to me.
LMAO, I seriously did not think places like this existed anymore, but these guys prey on the weak and uninformed. You can’t actually think the ‘bully’ attitude is going to work? I don’t respond to temper tantrums by children, your father should have taught you to respect adults
Agreed Matt. Our family just had a horrible experience with them.
The WORST!!! Car experience ever! I called first to check if a vehicle was still availbale 1998 Honda Accord for 2,888. I was told yes and was told how many miles were on it 150,000, I then told Johnny I am driving from Salem, Or and would be their in an hour, he stated, “ok and ask for him when we got their. We pulled up seen the car there and checked out the inside through the windows and proceeded to find Johnny. We asked Johnny to get the keys so we could start it, Johnny came back and said, “by the way I just found out the Transmission is bad” (WTF!!)… Then asked if we wanted to check something else out!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
Ken, Are serious? It’s not a crime to call and ask questions about your car. You don’t have to be a D*CK about it. Money is still in my pocket. Don’t do business with these people.
ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FAKE…KEEP READING!!! This place is a joke!!! Bought a 2005 Acura TL in August of 2011, by Oct. 2011 I needed to replace the transmission, battery and headlights. Nov. 2011 I needed to replace the brakes all around. Took it to Ron Tonkin Acura and they told me I need $3400 more worth of work done to the car ON TOP of the $4700 I just spent. Tried selling the car on craigslist, pulled an Autocheck report…to my surprise the car had been in THREE (3) accidents. Reason why I was surprised… the dealership gave me an autocheck report…but apperantly gave it to me for the WRONG car…entire process was terrible. Had to return three different times because they couldnt get the paperwork correct. When I asked to be compensated for my time and travel (three times is a bit excessive) the carsales man LAUGHED in my face and told me to stop looking for a free hand out. Not to mention, my wife went there before me, and while looking around they tried pressuring her into any and all of the CRAP cars they had on there lot…she chose the one she wanted, and then the finance manager tried FORCING a service contract on her…she ended up leaving and I went back to close the deal, but before that I called to address the EXTREMLY HIGH PRESSURE sales issue, and the salemen told me MY WIFE LIED?!?!? TERRIBLE PLACE…TERRIBLE PEOPLE…dont spent your hard earned money here…unless you have extra $$$ to spend on repairs. They are terrible!!!!
I recently bought a new car from Oregon Car Connection (dealt with Kenny and Johnny) and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied. I was a pretty shrewd car buyer; I knew exactly what I wanted, and I was having all the online salespeople in the region compete for my business in the most non-emotional, cut-throat manner possible. Of all the quotes I received, Oregon Car Connection had the best price by at least $300. I showed the quote to other dealers and their reactions varied from disbelief, shock, anger, to even warnings about how Oregon Car Connection must be trying to scam me. One dealer said Oregon Car Connection was giving me that price in order to just get me in the door, and to then pull one over on me in some way. Needless to say I was very skeptical and on the defensive upon arriving, but the experience was great. Right upon arriving, Ken shook my hand and said, “Well, we’ve already agreed on the figure, so I’m going to give you to Johnny here and he’ll take you through the rest.” Price never again came up! I ended up paying exactly the out-the-door price they quoted me. In general I was really pleased with their professionalism, honesty, patience, and general good manner.
Thanks guys!
WOW Are You Kidding Me. AAA Service is Still Around I went to a few different dealerships this weekend cause everyone was running ads in the newspaper. After visiting two of the larger dealerships I stopped in at the Oregon Car Connection, and I have to say – Oregon Car Connection went above and beyond levels of customer service. I was immediately greeted when I was getting out of the car. I was treated like good friend through out the whole process. My kids play in the playroom while we discussed my deal. Even the gentleman who washed my car was also very nice. I can’t think of a reason that I wouldn’t continue to do business with these guys. Thanks Ken for the great experience!!!
I purchased a 04′ Cadillac SRX (Top of the line luxury with all the bells and whistles) from OCC. Johnny was my salesperson and he was genuinely warm and friendly. Johnny explained upfront that there was an issue with the closure of the vista moon roof and a work order was in place (which was prestented to me at the purchase signing). Johnny even through in a 6/mo. powertrain warranty. He stated that “We’ll take care of you”. Well after I signed on the dotted lines, I decided to get a pre-inspection from a licensed mechanic shop. To my surprise the gentleman performing the inspection worked for Vic Alphonso for 20+ years:p so, I knew that he knew his onions. He said it would take an hour, then he decided he wanted a 2 hour allowance to go through with a fine tooth comb. In the end, the only thing he could find was the closure of the moon roof, washer fluid line, (which wasn’t connected), oil leak, and license plate light. Otherwise, he stated that I have a darn good vehicle. The paperwork in the window says, “AS IS-NO WARRANTY”, Nevertheless, it had not been 3 days, so I thought I was within my rights to present the inspection report to OCC. Johnny and the manager stated “NO PROBLEM, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. JUST LET US KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO BRING IT IN AND WE WILL CALL THE MECHANIC” . I scheduled the appointment, dropped the vehicle off, and several hours later the work was complete except the oil leak(due to timing) however, Johnny told me to bring the vehicle back this week to have that problem fixed.
Overall, I have been extremely pleased with the level of service that I have received thus far. I have not been given the run-a-round, and the staff have been quick to address and remedy my auto needs. I would highly reccommend OCC and I look forward to doing more business with them in the very near future! We negotiated on the price which made it quite affordable for me. Great group of guys who are changing the face of “Used Car” dealerships.;)
I went to four Big Time new car dealers and they told me they couldnt help me because I owed too much on my car. One even laughed at me. I called a friend and she said to go see Ken at Oregon Car Connection. She was right. Not only was he patient, he helped get me a good loan. My credit is OK but not perfect. Ken got a good loan and lower payments on a car that I could afford . thanks to Ken and his boss I got a good deal. 82nd has a bad rap from new car dealers but I think they (new car dealers)are overpriced hypocrites.
OK here goes…I recently bought my 4th car from ken at Oregon Car Connection.
All I can say is thanks. He is honest and does a great job of making you feel at ease with the whole sales thing. He works for a guy who has a great inventory of affordable used cars. The hardest part was deciding which car was best for me. Ken is very patient and let me look without hounding me like a lot of dealers do. He truly is a gentleman and I look forward to buying all my cars from him in the future. Thanks again Ken.
I got a great deal from this hispanic guy named misael. he told me the truth and showed a really nice car. he said his friend was the boss. he told me he knew him a long time and that he would get me a great deal. he did. I got a real wholesale buy from the dealer. and I got a new friend in Misael. thanks
I really, really needed a new car. My old one had finally stopped running again. I went on the internet to search for a car and was told blatant lies from 3 different dealers.(the cars had problems, the cars were sold, the miles were wrong) I was recommended by a friend to go to Creditissosimple.com. This lead me to Oregon Car Connection. I looked them up, they were ok. they werent fancy and didnt try to fast talk me into anything. They were real guys who listened and helped me find a good dependable car with a warranty. they even let me take it to have it inspected before I signed any paperwork. they even let me take the car to show my big mouth brother and get his approval before I signed the deal. Thanks Ken for all your help>Your new friend Dave
Did a bait and switch and sold a defective vehicle and a worthless service contract that wont cover the needed transmission repairs. Only had the vehicle a couple of weeks.
I went to probably a dozen dealerships that claimed easy financing. They were rude and condescending. They wanted me to buy cars that were in worse shape than the one I wanted to trade in. I had all but given up hope when I drove by Oregon Car Connection. I didnt think that I could afford any of their cars because they were soooo nice. I met this salesman, his name was Tiger.(really). He helped get me a nice Toyota Truck. All the other places were a joke after talking to this guy. He had me financed on the spot and kept saying dont worry. I’ll get ‘er done. He did! I love my Truck. Thanks Tiger. You werent lying.
I went to 82nd avenue to buy a cheap good used car. Cheap and good dont go together. especially when looking for an affordable car. I went to Oregon Car Connection and I met Tiger. I said your lying. He said im not lying I am Tiger. I laughed and had the best car buying experience ever. He made it easy to buy a nice affordable car for reasonable payments. So dont be scared, go see Tiger. Hes a nice guy.
I went shopping online for a good car. My old one had broken down and after five years of driving it it was time to get another car. fear is the first thing that came to mind, because my credit isnt spotless, i had worries about paying too much. my brother always says pay cash. you can only pay cash if you got cash. I called a man named Johnny answered . he got me preapproved, helped me find a nice Honda, and even picked me up at the MAX station. Thanks again Johnny for everything.:)
After dealing with several pushy dealerships, I had given up on buying a car. But my SUV broke down right in front of Oregon Car Connection. The Salesmen helped push my car off of 82nd ave. I explained my situation(recent divorce, bad credit etc.) He then showed me a nice toyota and actually got my financing handled
when everyone and I mean everyone else said no to what I wanted. He was awesome and I would not hesitate to recommend Tony to anyone who needs a car. Thanks
Being apprehensive of car dealers is natural, I went to several before going to Oregon Car Connection. I am hispanic and dont trust most dealers. I met an older salesman named Cleto. He was awesome. He took the time to explain everything to me. He is very patient. Thanks to him I bought a Car, a Honda.
I was in need of a car. I just moved here from Washington and needed transportation. Everyone I went to said that I needed a Co-signer, But tony said
that he had a guy who could make magic happen. He did. I got a Honda with out a co-signer and at a reasonable interest rate. Thanks.
I was hesitant to buy a car because of my credit. But after leaving three lots with pushy people, I had about given up. I drove into Oregon Car Connection and I met Jared. He showed me some cars and made it easy to drive away happy in something that I could afford. Thanks Again.:)
I was interested in an ad they posted on the AutoTrader site. I’m a student with limited funds and was just looking for something cheap to get me through the next year. If it crapped out after that, fine…but I didn’t want to continually make repairs along the way.
I asked about the car in the ad and right off the bat, he told me it was a “piece of crap” and he wouldn’t sell it to me. He instead started showing me a couple of others. One of them had a plastic tray from a microwave meal and other garbage in the back seat. They obviously don’t clean out used cars before showing them, which means they probably don’t inspect them either.
I asked to just take a look at the car I came for. The two front tires were flat as pancakes! I couldn’t even test drive it if I wanted. The picture on the website had fully inflated tires (I double checked when I got home) and mentioned nothing about being a “mechanic’s special”, as the salesman explained. This was clearly a case of bait and switch.
On my way out, he directed me to another and said “This is a nice one”. I couldn’t tell what make it was so I asked him and he couldn’t tell me. I asked him about the model and year of the first one he showed me so I could go home and do some research. He never answered me and tried to get me to buy it on the spot.
I told him I wouldn’t be making any purchases tonight anyway, as I would have to get it checked out by a mechanic during business hours. He tried to talk me out of it saying that a mechanic is going to find something wrong with any car in my price range and it would be ridiculous for me to expect it to last for 5 or 10 years. I explained my long commute to campus and said the inspection was for my assurance that I wouldn’t wind up stranded halfway there. For some reason, he thought it would be effective to belittle my commute by telling me how far he has to drive to work every day.
Apparently, his sales technique is to condescend, belittle and argue with customers and if that doesn’t work – tell them they’re pretty and ask if that’s their real hair color as they’re leaving. This guy is as charming as an eel, and as slippery as they come.
He should run for office.
I expect Jethro will argue with this review just like all the other negative ones – because he probably works for the dealership. Either that or he’s a troll on a review board, which is just really pitiful.
The first real question was “where is your husband?” after I informed my nice salesman that the husband does not participate in these ventures, he respected that. I let him know where I was financially and with challenged credit. I was put into a vehicle to suit my needs, should have checked out things more diligently. The vehicle would not engage into reverse after driving home – though intermittently. After filling it up with gas, noticed a leak – took to a mechanic the next day and he outlined what was wrong- took back to dealership. Oregon law states no lemon law for Oregon used cares – you buy it as is – the dealer took it back and said they would fix it – now I was aware of the rebuilt transmission- they said they would fix the bad hose and tranny – after 3 tries – it now goes into reverse- but now that it has a full tank of gas, it is apparent that it was not fixed , though i was told that it was – I called them and let them know that if they are indeed paying a mechanic to repair these things, they are getting ripped off – All of the guys were very nice – but you just need to do your homework !
I was afraid of getting turned down again for a loan for a used truck. My last car blew up and I couldnt afford a new motor. I went to four dealers and was turned away. They all said they couldnt help me and my credit. I stopped in to Oregon Car Connection, Hoping to buy a trade in from the back. I met Guy and he showed me a finance deal, a real deal on a newer car, one that I would nt have to put money into. He went out of his way to help me when everyone else said no. thanks guy.
I went looking for a used truck and got the runaround from three dealers. I was giving up on my search when I met Guy at Oregon Car Connection. This guy was different than all the other salespeople I have ever met. He was so laid back that it made it easy to buy from him. I was allowed to have the vehicle inspected, I was given a warranty for free, and I even got a low rate from the credit union. All the other dealers said that a first time buyer needs a co-signer. Guy was better than I expected from a dealer. Thanks a lot.:)
I went in to buy a car and I was nervous. Rey made me feel at home and the deal was done in less than an hour. I was amazed at how many vehicle they had in my price range. Thanks Again.
My husband purchased a used car, WITH TITLE, from a private party. When we went to DOL to title it we were told there was a more current title in the name of this dealership. The gal at DOL called & spoke to Billy (GM) who said they would send a release of interest to us. About 7 days later I called, spoke to Amy who said they were waiting for the title to be sent to them from Oly & would then send it to me & she would call & let me know when it came. I called and left a message abt 10 dys later because I had not heard anything, no response. I called again & left message 3 days later, no response. I finally called on Fri. 10/22 at 8:40 am & spoke with Billy. Explained (as above) situation. He stated that Amy came in at 10, he would speak to her to find out what was going on & call me by 11.(he was that specific) At 3:20 that afternoon, I called again & asked for Amy, explained again & included that I had spoke with Billy at 8:40 & as he had not followed through like he stated he would I was asking her directly. She then said “hold on”. I was transferred through 4 people who simply said “hold on”, then finally Billy picked up & asked “what can I help you with?”. When I stated that I was trying to find out what was going on with the title to the 19xx Ford xxxx he launched into obscenities. He told me that if I was going to be a fu***ng pain in his a** then he could be a real pri** and he would not do anything about the title. He told me I must be a f***ing moron to buy a car without a title. When I tried to tell him not only did I not buy it, my HUSBAND did (I think he felt I was a stupid woman) but we DID have a title, he cut me off with “you couldn’t have the f***ing title, I have the G** da** title right here”. When I asked him “you HAVE the title?” and he said yes, I then asked why no one had let me know or sent it, he said it is not their responsibility to tell me anything, the car was stolen from them and he was just going to come take it. When I told him we have a title & bill of sale he said he would just go right ahead & mail a title but release it to the “pr**k who stole it from me & you can go find that bast***”. Then he hung up on me. This lasted about 10 minutes, him cursing, swearing & threatening, I barely had a chance to speak. When I got off the phone, I went straight to the DOL, told them what happened. THEY called him, he told them he would just sign it off to the guy who stole it, she responded that it was the dealerships responsibility to release the title within 45 days of the sale, he was in error, he could not do that it would be forgery. End result–he sent the released title to the DOL office, he did it incorrectly trying to screw me (I believe) but as they had seen the way he worked, they titled it to us with NO PROBLEM. (sorry Billy!)
NEVER buy from this dealership! Very dishonest! Watch what you buy!
It’s misleading to its customers! Bought a car from this dealership, and one month later i took it to the Nissan dealership, and found out major problems with the car! Bought the car for $9g, and $5g+ to get the car fixed! I’ve contacted the dealership, and their insurance, and they would not fix the problem, nor acknowledge they’re wrong! Please if you run into this problem, report it to the Better Business Bureau, and Attorney General, because I have!
We asked if the oil & other fluids have been changed regularly & they said yes. Then we pulled out the dip-stick to check the oil level & they asked if we were trying to sabotage the car & told us to get off theyre property.
They advertised in Washington’s Craigslist despite being in Oregon. We called to try and purchase an explorer. We were getting ready to make the long drive and first we were going to put $500 down and pay the rest next week. That didn’t work for them, which is fine, so we came up with total purchase price in CASH and then they told us not to bother because we are not local, and then hung up on my husband. Then WHY advertise in Washington?
I can’t believe that in todays economy a dealership would turn down cash on a vehicle regardless of being from out of state. This makes no sense that they would just hang up on someone. In reality it sounds like you were trying to negotiate a lower price over the phone before you drove down and they would’nt budge on the sales price. Therefore not getting the answer you were hoping for on the price you probably were rude and that’s why they hung up. Just an opinion based on your review.
Actually Jethro..Were going to bring down the TOTAL purchase price, as stated above. I don’t understand it either, which is why I posted it here. Sorry, your theory is wrong.
Within 2 months of purchasing my vehicle, it started to have several mechanical problems: New radiator, New Axel and brakes, water pump, timing belt, ac belt, new clutch. Total cost : $2,550.00, I still owe over $2,770.00 on the vehicle, with high interest rate of 29%. I would not recommend buying a car from this so called dealership. Dishonest and sleazy would best describe this place.
I find this review very funny. In reality a dealership has no control over someones interest rate. The interest rate is determined by that individuals credit score. Typically if you’re at 29% interest that means that you are very irresponsible with your finances and dont pay your bills on time and possibly have repo’s etc. Also i love when people blame the dealer for a bad car. The funny thing about this is that the customer has the right to take the vehicle to a mechanic or anything else before they actually buy it. So once again when you buy a vehicle and it has issue’s it’s no ones fault but your own for not taking the time to have it checked out and get that piece of mind. Typically when you buy a used vehicle it’s going some issues and not be perfect. This is why it’s called a used car. Blaming the dealer for your bad credit situation with 29% interest and not having your investment checked out is not the answer. Stop blaming everyone else for your bad luck.
Ken is the best salesman in Portland. He listened to me and I got the car I wanted.
I went to four dealerships and no one would work with me and my credit.
Ken did. He is awesome. Thanks.f57f
🙂
Incorrect, Ken is a douche bag who is a classic bait n switch scammer.

This Dealership was simply amazing! I applied online for financing, the approved my BAD CREDIT gave me great rates and a great over all price. They worked with me and there was no pressure to buy. I thought about it for a week and went back and bought the Jeep of my dreams! Overall the best service, and value of my car buying experiences!
Thanks Ken!

I was looking for a Land Rover Discovery on craigslist and found one at OCC that matched what I was looking for. I called to make sure they still had the vehicle and asked if they were interested in a trade in on a toyota truck. The gentleman on the phone said to come on by and that they were always interested in Toyota trucks.
I stopped by after work expecting a decent Land Rover given the price. Having had several land rovers I am familiar with their issues and sure enough OCC’s rover had all of them. Sunroofs and rear windows wouldn’t open. The alternator had been replaced which they said cost over $500 but after further questioning they admitted it was a used unit which would cost half that amount.
We went on to look at my toyota trade-in and that’s when things took a major turn for the worse. I understand my truck wasn’t in showroom condition but the salesman actually started harassing me about why I would even bring such a truck in. He went on to tell me that I was embarassment to his business. Worst car experience of my life.
Well, I sold my toyota truck for $3000 and ended up buying a Toyota Land Cruiser from a private party on craigslist. I would not recommend going to OCC. They are the epitome of sleezy car sales.
Here is another example of a customer that is to smart for their own good. It sounds like you really know your stuff about Land Rover’s and probably knit picked the heck out of the vehicle to the salesman. People seem to think the longer the list of issues they point out the bigger the discount. That’s understandable but there is that line when it gets annoying. Sounds like you probably went miles beyond that line. So I’m sure you felt things turned for the worse when they looked at your less than showroom condition Toyota truck and gave you the same respect you gave them on knit picking your vehicle. Not getting your way at a dealership does not make it a bad place to shop. Sounds like you were not getting the answers you were looking for and could’nt handle the same criticism you were giving out. Hmmmmmmm
You are probably right Jethro, pointing out that the sunroofs and back windows wouldn’t open and asking if the alternator was new was over the line as a potential buyer. I should have naively accepted their ‘great condition’ line and bought the car. Lets be clear, I didn’t try and low-ball the gentleman who showed me the Land Rover and I was friendly through the entire process. Your reply was based on an assumption and your assumption was wrong.
I needed a car. I had bad credit. Everyone else turned me down. Jared found me a
nice affordable Honda. They say people with bad credit cant get Hondas or Toyotas. Jared is the greatest. Keep up the good work.
There was definitely extreme pressure to buy the car, not only was I in dire need for one, but when I was looking into signing the papers the guy proposing the deal to me said “We have had other people looking into buying this car, so if you don’t want it…” as if I needed to make the decision quickly before it was too late. Along with being pushy, the sales person was a bit inappropriate (however I won’t get into details), and uninformed about the car. I thought that I was buying the car for a fair price, however issues started arising shortly after getting it (and these things were undisclosed by the dealer). Now, I expected to put some elbow grease into this car, however the repairs it needs are too many, and too expensive (for the price of the car). Generally, my experience with this company has been a poor one.
I would not advise going to this dealer for business, for a few reasons. First of all, I talked with the owner of the business (about the problems with my car) and he informed me that he buys the cars from auctions and does not necessarily have time to look them over mechanically before putting them on the market. I think that this is something EVERY buyer should know, because I was unaware of this fact at the time, and had I known this I would not have purchased the car from OCC (where it is overpriced), but instead gone directly to the auction itself.
Secondly, the aura of dealerships makes a buyer think that the dealer himself is credible from the get go – however, this business has little concern with the mechanics of the car (which is the important part) and cares more for aesthetics, which allows for their “clean” car’s advertisements.
If you are looking into buying a car from OCC, take it to a mechanic you can trust.
I found this review to have a very good point. I agree that dealers should have their inventory checked out and made safe to drive for the customers. This also go’s back to my thought’s that it is the customers responsibility to have a vehicle checked out before they purchase it and make sure they are making a good decision. The dealership does’nt have X-ray vision and there will always be some bad apples when getting inventory. Even taking it to a mechanic does’nt make it 100% good and some cars will slip through. You can never predict when something may go wrong with a used vehicle. That’s why they offer warranties so you can have that piece of mind if something bad happens. Is it really the dealership’s fault if a vehicle breaks down or is it your own for not taking the time to have it checked out before you spent your hard earned money and not stepping up and paying for a warranty and being protected from any issues that may arise from buying a used vehicle. Just my opinion.
I bought a 2000 Montero Sport from them a week ago. A day after buying it I found an oil leak(cam gasket seal) while I was filling the gas tank and checking oil levels. When I checked the oil the dipstick read nothing… later found the horn doesn’t work.
I forgot to check the spare tire when looking the car over. When I got home I found it had no spare tire, or jack, or lug wrench.
I had looked at the car a week before I bought it. The body was in very good condition at the time. When I went back to test drive/buy a week later I found the bumper alignment was off. The owner told me he would fix it, and drove me to the auto body shop and scheduled an appointment to meet me at the shop a few days later at 9AM. When I went to the shop he didn’t show, I called the dealership to ask where he was and they told me he was at an auction, and was a very busy person. I gave them my phone # and asked for him to return my call, didn’t happen. They didn’t pay to repair the bumper. When told about the oil leak/lack of oil the dealer told me cars we sold “as is.” I asked if he was comfortable selling a car with out oil and he repeated “as is, that’s why it they are so cheap.”
The car looked very nice, and with ~ $1000 of work will be in good condition, but I feel some things were hidden from me(I also over looked some things). I looked very hard for that oil leak and found nothing during the test drive. I knew this particular leak was a problem with monteros. I guess the “bubble gum” fell off after I bought it.
I recommend you do no business with this company, or at the very least bring the car to an unassociated mechanic before buying it.
Also, while driving the owner back from the auto body shop he asked me how I felt about the experiences I’ve had with other dealers. I told him no offense but I’ve had many bad experiences with used car dealers and don’t trust many of them. He explained to me why he opened the shop… “I figured if i couldn’t be the other Scu..bags then I shouldn’t be in business.”
Brian, you aren’t beating them, and you shouldn’t be in business. I doubt it will last much longer for you.
These guys were the best. Thanks Lorenee13
I bought a vehicle that obviously had a bad transmission that the dealer covered up during the test drive by telling me where to go on the test drive and overfilling the transmission fluid so that it would not be noticed on the test drive. Dealer did not disclose all exsisting problems with the vehicle prior to selling it. Their contract assumes full disclosure and half an hour after getting it off the lot I found out it disingages the engine at 35 mph, when it tries to shift to 4th gear. When I took it back to the dealer they said that is was probably the overdrive on the transmission and after trying to reason with them they still refused to do anything about it. They also said I could still drive it in 3rd gear. This was the only money I had and now I have a vehicle that does not go into 4th gear and no money to buy a new vehicle.
