My visit to Clayton Volvo service department was exceptional. I worked with Layla and Todd (service manager). They were honest, friendly, and considerate of my needs, even though I purchased my vehicle elsewhere due to price.
Here is the truly amazing part. There was a discrepancy in the vehicle I ordered and the vehicle I received. I ordered an interior that was pictured with a two-tone steering wheel on the Volvo iPad app. My car was delivered with a standard all black steering wheel. I contacted Volvo and they asked me to contact my dealer and go through the Volvo rep. Again, I purchased from a dealership that was out of town due to Clayton Volvo pricing policies (Charles the internet manager). I received a much better deal from Friendship Volvo. The fact that I purchased out of town led me to believe I was going to have a hassle dealing with the local service department. Boy was I wrong.
I emailed Todd Hipsher the service manager at Clayton Volvo and explained my problem. He took immediate action and contacted the Volvo rep. They discussed my situation and Todd responded to me promptly. He explained that everything on the iPad app was not always accurate and there were disclaimers on the app stating that. However, he followed that up with, “We want to insure our customers are satisfied so, we will make the necessary changes to your car to make sure you are happy.” He said they would have a loaner ready for me and that they would upgrade my Sensus system while the car was there.
I’m not sure why the previous poster was so negative about Layla. I guess everyone has a bad day. Layla was great when I left my car and quoted me an accurate time the repairs would be completed. They gave me a loaner which allowed me to complete some much needed errands. My wife used to have a Volvo fleet car and she said Layla was always great to her as well.
Due to the great service I have received in the Clayton Volvo service department, I will consider purchasing another Volvo there even if it is a little more expensive.
Our sales person was very friendly…at first. Once we saw a car (which was out of our price range) he talked us into at least test driving it so that we could get to know the feel of a Volvo (seeing as we don’t own one). He climbed into the back seat, but every time I would ask a question, I felt as though he would change the subject or give me some stereotypical answer; I.E…When I aske him if the car had ever been wrecked he said “Clayton never sales a car on the lot that has had damage”…that isn’t very specific to the car I was test driving. Then, when I was going through the car to check it out, he continously kept me away from the center console, I later found that the center console was not in the best condition. Oh, did I mention the car would not start at first and he tried to tell me it was because it had a turbo and that turbos take a few tries to start (I didn’t bother to tell him that I have had several Volvo Turbos in the past and knew that this was not the case). I decided to see what they would offer me on my car. Daniel pushed me into applying for finacing through the dealership even though I did not want to because I already knew that my bank would offer me 2.9%…he assured me that applying would not lower my credit rate & that I would get a better deal than 2.9% (I later found out through my bank that every time a credit report is ran, it lowers the overall score and that dealerships want you to finance through them because they earn some of the interest {profit for them}). Then he brings me the deal sheet from the Pre-Owned Managers office…they didn’t offer half of what my car is worth, they only lowered the price of their car by $400 and the percentage rate they offered me was nearly 4%. He kept telling me not to focus on the money I am getting for my car nor how much I would be paying for their car, but instead to focus on the monthly payment. I refused at that time to even think of it that way (after all I do listen a little to Dave Ramsey). Then I told him that what he offered for my car was insultingly low. He asked me to wait and he would go speak to his manager. When he came back his reply was “If you sign here on the line saying that you will make a deal with us then we can lower the monthly payment by about $50”. He sat back in the chair and crossed his arms. I told him no way because of hundred of reasons….1) The “sign on the line” was a make shift line….2)He still hadn’t informed me how much he was willing to give me on my car…3)I had already told him that he couldn’t decide monthly payments because I don’t want to finance through Volvo…etc etc etc. Of course, he then said that he had to go speak with the manager again. I sat there for a minute very angry at this point and decided I would get up and go to the managers office to inform the 2 of them to forget the entire thing because it was entirely to “shady” (for lack of better words)….and I did just that. The manager then told me that he has been doing business like that for 50+ years and that I could “just leave”. And I did just that!! I will never return to Clayton Volvo again and I advise you don’t either!
We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to look at another used car. The salesman ( Used car manager). said he had a great deal just came in and not even cleaned up yet. So we looked and said we liked. But it was a little out of our price range. We were treated like kings, made big deal of bending over backwards to meet our needs. We were giving a great rate but didn’t have the down payment amount available at that time to make the purchase. Well they lowered the down payment amount and in turn lowered the things they would do to rehab the unit. We agreeded and signed on the line. We had to come back 3 different days to pick-up the car before it was ready. We were told they would call us when they found the extra key and when replacement parts would be in for them to complete the promised repairs and detail the car for us. 5 weeks later we still have no extra key and when asked about the other repairs, we were told they would sell us the parts at cost, plus labor if we wanted it done. Ofcourse I am a man of my word and belived they were also. My advice is get it in writting before you sign. Several of our friends who own Volvo’s have good references of service centers away from parkside dr.
Mrs. Layla Bean was especially rude:rolleyes:, and caused additional problems for me. Mrs. Bean was not honest about any of the issues concerning with my car. I felt as though I was harrassed, and she continued to try to charge an additional service fee anytime I needed my car serviced. However, nothing has yet to be resolved with my car. The most recent issue occured today when Mrs. Bean told me it would take five hours to get my car fixed. The situation turned out that it only took ten minutes, and as usual nothing was fixed. I was asked again to pay for something that was not even properly looked at or much less fixed. Please keep in mind I also live two hours away. Mrs. Bean is RUDE, INCONSIDERATE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND IGNORANT! Mrs. Layla Bean is a terrible person to represent Clayton Volvo and she takes actions of a person who lacks character and integrity.:o
