Hello! I’m at work surfing around your blog from my new iphone 3gs!
Just wanted to say I love reading through your blog and look forward to all your posts!
Keep up the fantastic work!
No respect I came in just to see the car. How’s your credit? here sign here. I mentioned I was a repeat customer, no mercy. I went there in the past was allowed to test drive a car without a sales person in the car. On this occasion I was told the customer can not drive the car off of the lot. The were very secretive of the price of the car. I told them the car was advertised in the newspaper. The price of the car was not the same as advertised. They did not want to put an inspection sticker on the car, nor issue a second set of keys. This was the most frustrating purchase of a car I have ever had, and I have puchased many cars over my life time. When I did go back to get an inspection sticker, they made me wait over an hour, and never came to get me when the inspection was complete. I called the sales person the day before, and never reached him, and so I asked to speak to the sales manager, and was tossed around to voice messaging machines. While waiting for the inspection to be done, I approached a salesperson whom was said to be the original owner of the car, and asked about the second set of keys, he took my name and address, and telephone number, and told me he would send the keys, in the mail the next day, and would call to let me know. I never received that call. I’m thinking they are going to come to steal the car back. If I had it to do again, I would have walked out of there at the first sign of deception. Never again. CROOKS
Very dishonest people.
You do not want to take your business to this dealership. They are rude and very disrespectful. dont make the mistake of making a deposit, you will never see it again without a good fight.
All around just a good experience. Met my price and even sweetened the deal when I had some financing complications and made it all work.
This was my first experience with Clay Nissan. The Salesman I had was great and even extended his services when I went into the service dept and had issues w/the service dept.
When Jose realised I was having so much problems with the service dept. He stepped right in and said I should contact him directly and management from sales dept instead of going through service.
If I do decide to go back to the service dept. I should NOT have to go through sales person as a contact. But am greatful he was able to assist. 😎
Liars, I bought a 2002 Corvette Convertible, I told them on Tuesday 09/15 that I would be in to sign for the car after agreeing to a price and finance charge. I was told I would be getting 4 new run flat tires by Perrelli for the car. When I came in one Friday to sign the car wasn’t ready they where waiting for the tires to come in. At three in the afternoon I was told the tires wouldn’t be in until the next day Saturday 09/19. When I showed up again to pick up my car at 1:00 the next day, I started feeling like I just got screwed by the CLAY Family Dealership. I waited 2 hours again the car wasn’t ready. I was told these where special tires and cost the dealership over $2000 just for the tires so “you have to be patient” Well I was told the car was going to be all cleaned inside and out and the new Perrelli “run flat tire” on Monday 09/21/09.
Monday I pickup up my car when I got home I noticed the tires where made by General Tire, I intend to return the car on Tuesday 09/22/09 I will insist on the new ties as promissed or my money back.
My wife and I purchased a Nissan Pathfinder from Clay Nissan in 2008 from Julie Vonderhyde (sp.). She was a friendly salesperson and we got a reasonable deal. When my wife’s one year inspection came due, she went to Clay. She was told that two of the tires had to be replaced to pass inspection. We were incredulous!!!! The vehicle only had about 8000 miles put on it in that year and the cost for the two tires was over $400. We tried to contact Julie and, when she was not available, spoke with the sales manager. We were told that if their tires pass when they sell, no matter how close to failing, they are sold that way. What a ripoff – maybe they replace tires with close to failing ones and save the others. Who knows!!!!! And, by the way, Julie never returned the message we left — real good sales follow up and assistance. I would NEVER recommend anyone buy there – there are a lot of other Nissan dealers in the great Boston area — I know, just bought a new Altima at one….: )
My girlfriend and I recently leased a car from Clay Nissan in Norwood. I have one good thing to say about them: we selected a particularly rare car/package and they managed to find exactly what we wanted. I know that it took a fair amount of effort for them to find this car. Otherwise the experience was abysmal.
First I will introduce the players.
Enthusiastic Sales Guy (ESG) was personable and seemingly of decent character. I even liked the guy at the outset, which I suppose makes him a decent car salesman. He turned out to be incredibly flaky, however, and very unresponsive to our well-articulated frustration.
Super-Slick Sales Manager (SSSM) was shady from the start. While ESG smiled and tried to be our pal, SSSM was the all-business guy who speaks too loudly and makes the deals. His speech and mannerisms made for a hilarious, disturbingly-stereotypical example of a slimy car salesman.
FRUSTRATING INTERACTION #1
After several days of waiting SSSM calls me and lets me know that they found our car and that we will be able to pick it up that night at around 8:00 or 8:30. Naturally we roll in at about 8:15. Upon arrival SSSM is clearly avoidant, going to almost comical lengths to keep from making eye contact with either one of us. Already we sense trouble. After about ten minutes we finally see ESG, who tells us that A) our car is still not there, and B) we won’t be able to get it until the next day. He explained that we are leasing and so they need time to secure plates, verify insurance, etc. Additionally, we were misinformed earlier because SSSM did not realize that we were leasing. No apology was offered for this internal miscommunication; the entire time we are treated as though we should have already known this fact. SSSM is still walking well wide of us.
FRUSTRATING INTERACTION #2
We continue into the leasing-paperwork office to finish signing the forms, etc. We notice that the agreed-upon value of the vehicle recorded on the form is actually $1,250 higher than the value we agreed upon during negotiations. ESG has no response for a while and has to get SSSM to back him up. When they return they eventually decide that the value was adjusted once we decided to lease. Apparently they miss out on a particular dealer incentive (worth $1,250) when the car is leased (instead of bought). When I asked why this fact wasn’t communicated, SSSM chimed in with: “You know what it is? We just do this so often that we don’t even think about these sorts of details.” What the hell does that mean? Their communication sucks because they’ve had too much practice? We are well into the realm of unprofessionalism at this point. Still the monthly and down payments stay as initially indicated so we decide to stay in the game. The nice financing lady, upon seeing what we’ve been dealing with, actually feels bad for us.
FRUSTRATING INTERACTION #3
They actually promised to deliver the car the next day. ESG even stated that he would drive it to my girlfriend’s office in Jamaica Plain, though we only needed it delivered to our place just three minutes away from the dealership. SSSM said that it would be all set by 10:00am. Fast forward to the next day and sure enough there’s still no car come 2:00pm. I have to call throughout the day to urge them on. Finally the car is ready toward the end of the day, but ESG bails on his promise to deliver the car. Again, we live three minutes away from the damn dealership, and yesterday all-smiles ESG was offering to take the car all the way to JP. I make two more phone calls and finally the car is delivered at around 6:30pm. And of course they put a dealer-endorsement plate frame on it after I specifically requested that they leave it off. Awesome.
In closing we were treated well until we signed a paper and made a down payment. From that point on we were consistently disrespected. All of our concerns and complaints were glossed over and disregarded. They have lost my future business and I will make a point to steer any car-shopping friends well away from Clay Nissan. I’ve bought several cars and this was BY FAR the worst car dealership experience of my life.
