I was very pleased with my experience at Robertson Honda. I found them to be friendly, knowlegable and they worked hard to make sure that I got the car and the deal that I wanted . There was no pressure to buy and they didn’t play the uusal dealership ganes of going back and forth on negotiating the price and ” let me have you talk to my manager” BS. I informed them of the best deal I was quoted from another dealership and they were able to beat the other dealers price. The bottom line is I was treated fairly and got an excellent deal. I highly recommned Robertson Honda and I will definitely be doing business with them again.
They were great and motivated to sell, but after the sale they were not helpful and some people there in sales were downright rude. Found out that we had an IRS tax levy during the signing of the contract, right after we signed the last line. Honda finance informed us through the finance contract writer Greg, we had not yet received the notice in the mail yet. He could of told us when we sat down at the signing that we had a levy, instead he waited until we signed the contract to say, “Oh, were you aware of a tax levy.” How convenient it was for him to tell us after we signed it. He pushed it through Honda to make our loan go through. We could pay the levy, however, what if someone came in and could not pay the levy? All they were concerned about is to make a sale and not the welfare of the buyer. The dealer would of moved a unit and received payment from Honda finance. However; the bank would of came after the car. Bottom line: They do not look after the best interest of the buyer.
In addition, what added to terrible experience is that we paid $3440 too much in total price. We were not shown the sticker price beforehand and in fact they threw the sticker away. It was later produced. We were told that it was thrown away while it was being washed. I can understand that. They tried to blame the poor car washer. Indeed, it may of been an accident of being pitched into the trash can, however, the sales people knew what price to put on the contract and had known that it was higher than the sticker and promised price. Take responsibility and don’t blame the car washer. Bottom line: It was like being baited with one price and not promising it later. And all Greg said was, “I just write the contracts.”
It wasn’t until we complained to American Honda, the DMV, and the service dept, that a customer service rep called us in to correct our contract.
How our experience began is that we saw a 2wd car Pilot in the showroom. We wanted 4wd so they had one delivered, meanwhile, we signed the contract. The price on the contract was more than what we were told when we took delivery. They offered a xeroxed copy of the window sticker of a car like it, we wanted the one off our car that matched the VIN. It was later produced and saw that we were charged more. When we called them on it we were told, “Oh, you got a good deal because we have charged 4-5K more than MSRP in the past because its a 4WD and hard to come by in Southern CA.” Also again the finance (Greg) person continued to try and push the extended warranty over and over (3X total) after telling him, “No” we don’t want it. I thought all he did was write what he is given by the sales team. It appears that he adds his input too, because we told Jeff that we did not want any extended warranty. Somehow it kept getting printed on our contract.
We had 4 new Honda purchases and 2 other new auto makers purchases in the past 10 years and this was the worst Honda buy experience ever. After taking the car home I checked the fluids and it turned out several were low. The check out papers were signed that the fluids were checked. I took the car back to them to service it. I drove off the lot and parked at a local walmart parking lot and checked them myself. All were of proper fill except the transmission fluid was still low. I went to another dealer and bought a quart and serviced it myself. They did not check the tranny oil again after being told it was low. They pride themselves for helping the community, and on and on boasting of themselves. That is great, however, they need to live up to Honda quality as well if that’s their business.
I have to say that Troy’s team was excellent in service, he did the accessory install and was great. Parts team was great in service also. When I went back for the fluids check it was another serviceteam that did it. I wished that Troy was there that day.
Just cannot recommend them to another potential buyer. They repeatedly asked if we could give them a good rating. We said we honestly could not. It’s interesting to note that we have not received the normally expected rating letter we have received in the past from other dealers. Somehow we were left off their mailing list. Take your chances and good luck with them.
Beware of this dealership. Make sure what your paying for is the actual price on the contract. What happened to us is that we never saw the sticker price, but was told the price. How this happened is that the vehicle was to be delivered, but we saw another in the showroom. Basically we paid 1K over MSRP. So for a Honda Pilot 4WD EX we paid 34055. Which is too much. When we called the dealership, the sales manager said we got a good deal. If that was the case how come when I call other places we find that we got duped, but that is not the point. We were just plain lied to. It doesn’t matter the awards they have on the wall. This isn’t libel either. I have the documentation to prove it. The worst honda franchise I ever dealt with.
