1)
after dealing with 3 other kia dealers, i decided on zeiser cus they were offering an ipad – once inside the dealership they told me that they couldnt find my credit score and i wouldn’t be getting a good APR on the finance. I knew I had decent credit, and had been approved at the other dealers, so this was a red flag to me. I was about to walk out when they magically found my credit score and was offering a decent APR but i still felt a bit uneasy about them and told them i’d think it over.
2) The sales lady emails me that i would be getting the monthly payments that i wanted.
3) I put the deposit for them to get the car from another dealer. they get the car and i notice 100 miles on the car, and inquire about it and they say they had to drive it from the other dealer to save money- would’ve liked it if they told me beforehand, but ok, not a problem, i still have 500 miles to break in the car.
4)
i talk to their finance guy and my monthly payment is slightly over what they told me on the email (just 10$ over, or 600$ for 5 years, -no biggie) and at this point i was too exhausted to haggle over 10$, so what ever, i just wanted my car. put the deposit on the car, got the paperworks done -drove off, and I was happy just to get the car and was done with dealing with dealers
5)
took me 2 days to realize that the odometer was on “trip A” and that 100 miles were on “trip A” and not the total milage of the car. DUH… so i press on the button to change the odo reading and the total milage on the car wasn’t 100, it was 750 plus the mileage i put on the car.
6) I go back to the dealer to find out about it – i was irate/angry etc and
disgusted they didnt tell me about this.
7) the manager Mike was nice and told me i can keep it or return it with a full refund, but tries to reassure me that there shouldnt be anything wrong with the car. still i felt uneasy and decided to return it. Mike said, it needs to be clean
8)
I cleaned the car, and while cleaning, i realized it was clearly used. Only I had ridden the car in the front seat but i found the backseat and center console plastics filled with sneaker marks, the backseat carpets were dirty, and the tires looked like they were in a ditch of some sort – they masked the dirt with some tire polish so that i wouldn’t notice when i got it, but the polish washed away the 2nd day i had the car due to the rain/snow (all of which were cleaned by me to ensure i get my money back in case they accuse me of anything)
9)
even after cleaning it, I still didnt know if returning the car was a good decision, and was torn cus i liked the car and decided to see how they’d handle the situation and go from there. However, when i got to the dealer, it seemed like they had already found another customer to buy the car cus the my saleslady was in a hurry to get rid of me.
and just to see her reaction, i asked her if she could give me a ride home to get the spare key i forgot to the car xD,
and she replied, “IM NOT WASTING ANY MORE TIME WITH YOU CUS IM NOT MAKING MONEY ON YOU, when you get the 2nd key for the car i gave you. i’ll give you back the 2nd half of your deposit, but WE’RE DONE”.
excellent .. LOL. it became clear then and there, that i had made the right decision of returning the car. I was glad I didnt have to deal with future services, future buys, recommendations, etc with these guys- called a cab and gtfo of there asap.
and no way was i ever gonna waste any money on this dealer again.. or so i had thought…
10) That very same day I return the spare key to get the rest of my deposit. the idiot saleslady couldnt credit my debit card for some reason.. so, get this…
she CHARGES me another $250 on my debit card, and credits me $500.
she didnt charge me 50$ and credit me $300, or charge me 100$ and credit me 350$, no .. that’s too little.. she just had to charge me 250$
and of course, i only have 243.30 in my checking account.
now she’s overdrafted my bank account and i now have 25$ overdraft/charge fee from my bank.
OH GREAT….
a little fee to remind me what i went through with this dealership
yep… “THE ULTIMATE BUYING EXPERIENCE” indeed….
NEVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN .. LOL.
