NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM DUBLIN TOYOTA. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY FROM DUBLIN TOYOTA. THEY HAVE SO MANY LAW SUITS AND COMPLAINTS.
They will negotiate with you. After negotiating, the contract will be different. They will confuse you. I couldn’t believe that in the 21st century, the “BAIT and SWITCH” is well alive. You will lose your down payment whether in the form of trade-in or cash. I talked to BRIAN CORNELIUS(Owner and Manager) personally about my situation. Though, I wanted a full refund of my down payment, he agreed to refund part of it. Two months had passed, I never received a check from him. He never returned my phone calls even after leaving messages in his answering machine and receptionist. WHAT A CROOKED BUSINESSMAN!!!! This is the type of businessman yother businessmen avoid. An honest businessman will keep the deal with you even with a handshake and honors his words. NOT WITH BRIAN CORNELIUS. What a shame!!!!!
You don’t know me but I want to help you from any misery. Otherwise, I won’t even write this review.
If you want to buy Toyota, GO TO WALNUT CREEK TOYOTA.
They sold me a used Honda that broke down two days later and put the tires on inside out, there was no jack I’m shaking and crying and spent my savings on this car
Hi,
I went to Toyota dealer in California to trade in my certified pre-owned 2010 Toyota corolla which had $6000 worth of damage on it. I went to them specifically as I had purchased that car from them and I was happy with the service that they provided. They offered me $3000 for it and sell me a new 2013 Toyota corolla. I agreed to it as KBB value showed that a good trade was $10000 on my damaged car.
I went ahead and signed for the new car and released my old car to them. Financial team also sold me extra warranty around $4000. On the second day I noticed on the bill that trade in value was actually ‘$0’ as they had miss calculated the payoff amount I had on the old car as $8525 when actually it was $5525. I went to them to ask about it and they explained to me that they “adjusted” the cost to body shop bill for $6000. As per their calculation – trade-in value $3000, Body shop bill – $6000, so the actual pay off on my car was 5525(earlier car loan)+3000(auto body shop bill) = 8525. I felt a bit cheated as I was under the impression that I would receive $3000 on top of the damaged car. As per my calculation – the actual payoff amount on the car = $5525 – $3000(trade-in) = $2525. I reluctantly agreed to their calculation as I did not have time or patience to deal with them.
However, the next day they changed their story and called me back saying that the auto body shop was asking for a price of $9000 for repair and they now considered the car totaled. Since they did not deal with totaled cars, the contract was void and I had to sign a new contract only for the new car and take back my old car. I was completely shocked as this was the auto body shop they dealt with internally I had taken my damaged car to their service center and they were the once who sent it to that body shop. They had even called the owner of this auto body shop the day I signed the contract to confirm the charges. Had he not informed them that the charges would be $9000 then? I felt that I was in a bad deal and wanted to cancel the whole deal and get my car back.
The ‘George’ Toyota manager then started to harass me with legal consequences, they said I could not cancel the whole deal as I had driven the new car for 2-3 days and it was now used car. The contract was now void as I had traded in a totaled car which was a wrong thing to do and will be punished by “California law”! I had only one option left and that was to sign a different contract for the new car and accept my old car which was still at the body shop. I felt cornered and since I had no idea what to do in this case, I signed to contract as he insisted to do it on spot, he could not wait for me to think about it and get back to them. Their lawyers would file a case and there would be legal consequences even for 1 day. Completely overwhelmed, I signed it. The next day I incurred the charges for keeping the damaged car at the body shop for 1 week, towing charges and got my damaged car back. The whole deal was an ordeal for me and my wife. We trusted them exclusively. My pre-owned Toyota corolla 2010 was purchased from them and when the damage happened, I went to them and they took it to the body shop which they dealt with internally. It is starting to feel like the whole deal was preplanned by them. I had clearly mentioned that I would go for a new car only if they gave me a good trade in price. Now, not only do I possess the car that was damaged with $9000 worth of repairs as per the body shop estimation, I also have a new Toyota corolla 2013 for the full price which I did not intend to own or purchase.
The irony of it all is, we’d have gone with the new car on that day even if we were told the truth that our car would be totaled. We trusted Jojo, whom we’d dealt with before, and knew that he’d understand and offer us something we’d like. The manager “George” or whatever his name is, didnt have to do the “Bait and Switch” with us, especially with that drama of asking us take all our stuff out of the new car and hand over the keys because we didn’t sign the new contract then and there at 9 pm in the night. On top of it, he told me that B&S would charge us nothing as they hadn’t performed any repairs.. They charged us $400 for keeping the car with them for 7 days! The feeling of being cheated on and lied to… I guess one has to experience it to know it.
Is there any way to claim for compensation or file a case against them for pulling such a trick on me? I would appreciate any counsel that you can provide.
Tried to purchase my leased car at the end of the lease. Completely misled me on the process, told me I had to buy it from them and could not buy from Toyota financial (who owned the vehicle). I was also told i then had to pay them a $350 safety check fee before I could buy my own car. They told me there is no way around this process.
Stepped outside called Toyota financial, they said this is ridiculous, they faxed over my papers, I fill the out and send a check, that simple, no safety check required. They also kept insisting I needed to buy the car today, called Toyota, they said I had another month and a half left on the lease and there was no rush. I am filing a complaint with the BBB
Stay away from this dealership! This is my second negative sales experience with this dealer. I am in the market for another Siena later this year, and would rather pay more at another dealer, then give these guys my business again
In closing i have to say, the aforementioned comments are about the sales department, the service department has been fine to deal with, always prompt and very responsive, I have no issues with service other then prices which are always higher at dealers
We made the mistake of buying from this place. NEVER AGAIN. They are nice at first then so aggressive and rude and threatening. Someone needs to stop this dealership from being in business. Hopefully all these reviews will help someone else from making the mistake of even stepping a foot in the parking lot. The salesperson’s name was MIKE stay away from him. Big tall white guy.
I couldn’t agree with you more. This is probably THE WORST Toyota dealership I have ever set foot in. I did as much as showed up on the lot and the pushy, rude, sales associate (a California jerk in a pink shirt) started asking very personal questions which weren’t any of his business. I did not like the way he addressed me so I blew him away and walked out of the lot. Great idea, right? WRONG!!! As a result, the pushy sales associate began to stalk me throughout the entire shopping center. He came back and told me I had dropped something, but I wasn’t missing anything. All that because I blew his pushy ass away. That kind of service is so bad such that words can’t even describe. What he did comes close to something criminal. What kind of airhead stalks someone like that throughout a shopping center? The city of Dublin, CA is as nauseating as the city of Dublin, IRL. In fact, Dublin, IRL is what I was reminded of. I should say to stay far away from the city of Dublin period. The people there are beyond stupid. It’s a shame that such a good vehicle make like this one has the lousiest service ever and I thought Mark Jacobson in Durham, NC was bad. I have been proven wrong. Dublin Toyota should be shut down and its staff jailed.
‘WARNING’!! DUBLIN TOYOTA STAFF VERY VIOLENT!!:devil(
WARNING!! Worst Experience Ever!!! New car purchase from Dublin Toyota Scion
BEWARE! The old “Bait and Switch “game is still alive and well at Dublin Toyota Scion in Dublin, CA. On Sunday December12, 2010 I got a phone quote on a 2011 Toyota Camry from a Toyota dealership in Modesto, CA. Not wanting to drive that far my sister suggested that I call Dublin Toyota which was closer to see if they would match that price. I called Dublin Toyota and spoke to a salesperson that identified himself as “Jojo”. Jojo informed me that he would, indeed, match the price. My family and I drove down to Dublin Toyota where hoards of salespeople approached us. I insisted that I wanted to talk to Jojo. Jojo finally came out to greet us. I introduced myself and my family and informed Jojo of our earlier telephone discussion.
After the introductions we went to Jojo”s desk and he wrote up the papers for the 2011 Camry but the out-the-door price was now $3,500 more than he had quoted on the phone. I told him that was not the price that I agreed to on the phone and that I wouldn’t buy the car at that price. He then shifted the conversation to a 2011 Venza that was on the showroom floor. He talked about what a great deal he could get me on a 2010 Venza because of the end of the year sale. He showed us the 2010 Venza which really was a nice cross-over SUV so we agreed to the out-the-door price $27,000.00 on the 2010 Venza. Jojo left the paperwork on the desk and went and talked to the “sales manager” and seemingly disappeared. The floor manager approached us and told us that he was now handling the transaction. That “Jojo doesn’t know how to sell cars, he’s been fired”. The floor manager took the paperwork and said “let me see what I can do”. He came back without the paperwork and started to try to start negotiations over stating that he could sale the Venza to us for $30,000.00. Once he said that I requested to see the manager…the person that he kept running back and forth to see. I went over to see the sales manager to find out what the problem was. I told him that I had initially agreed with Jojo to buy the 2011 Camry for $20,000.00 matching price of the Modesto dealership—-that changed; the price was raised to $23,500.00. Now I had agreed with Jojo to buy the 2010 Venza for $27.000.00 out-the-door, that changed; now the price is $30,000.00 plus taxes and license. What’s going on here? You guys wasted my time I could have driven to Modesto and back by now. The sales manager got extremely belligerent and started using profanity…”I’m not selling you any f*cking car; get the f*ck out of my dealership”.
THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THIS TYPE OF SITUATION CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THIS WAS A BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC FROM THE VERY BEGINNING….TWICE NO LESS. THE FIRST TIME TO GET ME INTO THE DEALERSHIP UNDER THE GUISE OF MATCHING PRICES TO SALE ME THE CAR AT A HIGHER PRICE THAN PREVIOUSLY QUOTED: THEN, AGAIN, CHANGING THE AGREED UPON PRICE ON ANOTHER CAR. NOT TO MENTION THE ARROGANCE OF THE SALES MANAGER AND HIS GROSS DISRESPECT OF ME AND MY FAMILY.
Essentially, I was scammed.
We negotiated a OTD (out the door price) for a Toyota Corolla.
I wanted to pay cash but was persuaded to go for 0% financing.
They charged my credit card $1000 and then made me rush into signing the financing papers.
I received my first bill and found that the $1000.00 charged on my credit card was not included. When I contacted the salesperson, I was told that the OTD price negotiated was AFTER the $1000.00 charged to my credit card.
I had gone on a Saturday afternoon and for 2 hours I was the only customer there.
They will be shutting down soon as is (in my opinion as I observed on a Saturday afternoon). Avoid them completely.
I should have read the reviews about these guys on some of the Internet sites before patronizing them. Awful, horrible experience.
This Dealership in Toyota Dublin is horrible when it come to get a service either
oil change or other. The amount of time waiting is about 3 hrs + and it could be longer than that. I wouldn’t recommended to bring in your service on Saturday!
Let me just preface this post by saying that I have never enjoyed the process of buying a new car, and quite frankly considered it a pain the ass, but a neccesary evil. In the past, I have had to play the “sales game” and haggle for hours in a dealership just to get a decent deal, and in the end, left exhausted and somehow feeling that I didn’t get quite as good a deal as I thought, eventhough I was driving a away in a brand new car which should be exciting and positive.
That being said, my experience with Dublin Toyota changed my perception of the whole car buying experience. I needed a new car and I decided to buy a Toyota Prius II. I researched the prices online and then sent a request for a quote via the Toyota site, and was put in touch with the internet sales manager for Dublin Toyota, Marlon Brown. Over the course of a week, Marlon and I conversed via email. He was very responsive and responded to my emails in a timely manner, and in some cases immediately when we were on line at the same time! I also had a request for a quote in at the same time with Walnut Creek Toyota to ensure that I got the best deal.
Walnut Creek came in with a great bid, but Marlon came in much lower and ultimately, Walnut Creek dropped out. I was very apprehensive at first because I wasn’t sure that the monthly payments would work. Instead of letting me figure it out for myself, Marlon took the extra time to calculate tax, license, total cost out the door, as well as monthly payments for 2 different interest rates. Now I knew I could make it work and Marlon and I arranged a time to meet via phone.
Marlon kept true to his word, and delivered the Prius of my choice at the price he promised. Unlike what the other person wrote, I had a great experience. I must admit that I read her post the day before I went over there, and it almost made me cancel the whole deal. I figured that the price was so good that I had to take the chance and see for myself. I am so glad I made that decision!!!!!!! Marlon treated me right, as well as the finance manager Robbie De Los Santos. Both of these guys were very professional, patient, and answered all of my questions. My new Prius rocks!!! In the end, all it took was a few emails, very little of my valuable free time spent, and being satisfied that I got a great deal. I also had the benefit of a personal friend in the car business telling me that I got a screaming deal and even he could not beat Marlon’s and Dublin Toyota’s offer!! Thanks guys for renewing my faith in the whole new car buying process!!!!
My husband and I were in the market to purchase a 2009 Highlander Limited under the Toyota employee purchase program which provides for specific pricing and conditions. We contacted several dealers in the area to determine those who participate in the program. Marlon Brown, the fleet/internet manager responded via email that yes he does work with the program and did have 4 cars in stock that met our criteria. We drove from Walnut Creek to Dublin in the afternoon to drive and purchase the car. When we arrived we were informed by Marlon that the cars were not available but were on a boat to be shipped to the dealtership. Marlon then handed us off to Prem Chand, who also claimed to be the fleet/internet manager.Prem asked us what we knew about the program then told us he was sure it ended in January 2009 (which we confrimed was not accurate), and proceeded to offer us a purchase price above MSRP. We left the dealership due to these deceptive practices and followed with an email to Marlon and Prem asking to be contacted by the dealership manager. Marlon claimed he mis-understood even after I provided him copies of his written correspondence to me.
What these 2 salesmen attempted to do was a classic bait and switch ploy, get us into the store and hand us off to an aggressive sales agent who lied to us about the program. I have contacted Toyota corporate and Toyota America to complain about Dublin Toyota and especially because an employee benefit/incentive is being treated with the disrespect and deceptive practices we encountered. We intend to take this complaint as far up the chain of commad as is necessary to stop this from happening to another customer.
I had heard about salesmen like the Dublin crew, you see this parodied in movies but I did not believe a professional dealership would actually allow its employees to act in this manner. We are sophisticated and informed consumers and I am shocked at how the staff at this dealership acted. I hope my write up will be taken to save another family from what we experienced. Do not deal with this dealership. There are other reputable dealerships in the area that will act with integrity. The car buying experience should not be as negative as what we experienced.
