Rich Rippel was honest, fair, and sincere – nothing like the typical car salesman. His knowledge was helpful, but not pushy. He was able to answer all questions and let me make informed decisions. I have purchased from Rich twice and both experiences were excellent. I refer all my friends to Rich because I know he will give them the best deal he can and be certain he meets their needs. He listens and gives honest answers.
Buying from Rich was the best car buying experience I’ve ever had. I’ve purchased many new cars over the years and most of my previous experiences were not good. Thanks to Rich – I don’t dread the car buying experience anymore.
Took Odyssey in for 60K maintenance – didn’t even know what that consisted of (my bad). Original estimate for 900, but they did not have to perform the tranny service as it was performed recently because of a recall/update, so price dropped to $740. Nice to give me a free rental for the day.
Went home and perused the web looking for any coupon to bring down the price and stumbled upon a Honda website that listed the parts/labor of the 60K service and it was only $430. Looked to see what was missing and DW was also performing a tuneup. Called the dealership to find out why they did not list the tuneup at 60k and they said it didn’t need one until 110K – per Honda’s recommendation and the owner’s manual. They were also nice enough to run my vehicle # through Honda’s nationwide database and they told me that with another recall/update service my brakes also did not need flushing as it had just been done 7 months prior. So I did not need the tuneup for $300 or the brake flush for $130!
Called DW and told them what I had learned and they were nice enough to take the $430 off my bill, but only because I caught them. They acknowledged that they do tuneups early to keep spark plugs from seizing in the block and the brake flush was just an oversight. An expensive one at that. So, I have always been pleased with the work they have performed, but now I am not sure that you need all they recommend.
Also, we called several other Honda dealership service departments to ask about the spark plugs seizing if you wait until 110k, and they all said they had never seen that happen with a Honda in this area. So I’m not saying they do bad work, but that it pays to know what the owner’s manual recommends before you go in. I did feel they were deceptive and if they had have told me up front that they uniquely like to do the tuneup 50k earlier than the manual suggests and why, I probably would have gone with it, even though I now know that would have been unnecessary.
I did not give them the worst rating for how they treated me because they did take the extra $430 off my bill, which they did not have to do as I did “sign” for the work to be performed. But there is still the issue of the dishonesty.
At first, I was very impressed with their service department. However, since that time I have discovered that they have lied to me at least twice about “necessary” repairs to my car. The most recent was last week when I was told that a certain part needed to be replaced that my car DOES NOT EVEN HAVE. I filed a complaint with the Volvo Corporation and they confirmed that my car does not have the part that the service department told me needed to be replaced. Prior to this incident I was told that a sway bar was COMPLETELY broken and could affect the stability of my car. While out of town, I got this looked at and was shown the actual sway bar which was NOT broken at all. I will never go back and warn everyone to stay away from this place.
😡 We were very disappointed in the way we were treated and the way our time was not valued. We received the age-old dealer treatment that we had hoped was a thing of the past. The salesman had to go see the manager for everything, and wasn’t able to make the smallest decision himself. They offered LESS than Kelly Blue Books Trade-in Value for our Mint Condition trade-in. In the end, we decided to keep the old car and sell it ourselves. Even then, they weren’t willing to come down on the price of the new vehicle even $300. We wasted almost an entire day with this dealership and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. 😡
I had the pleasure to work with Sam Foust when I purchased my vehicle. My experience was positive with no hitches in the process.
Obviously, the Volvo Hunters were disgruntled because they went into the process with unrealisitic expectations. I have seen “mint condition” vehicles which were in reality clunkers. Sales consultants have to confer with managers when the buyer is demanding “extras” that are unreasonable. Maybe the price couldn’t be lowered by $300 because the dealership had lowered it as far as it could afford.
If the experience was so terrible, why did they waste almost an entire day pursuing it? From the tone of the reviewer, I bet the experience wasn’t that pleasant for Mr. Foust either; his time could have been better spent with someone who was serious about purchassing a vehicle.
I highly recommend this salesperson and the dealership to anyone.
I purchased my new Accord through the Internet after submitting in a request. They contacted me almost imediately and gave me a price right up front. After I shopped Trickett, Redell and Crest Honda I found the price to be competive but not the lowest.
After going to one dealership I found out they didn’t include a Interior/Exterior protection package of $399 in the price plus they added mud flaps and pin stripes for an additional price of $649. They would not honor the price quote they emailed to me.
The next Honda dealer told me the price didn’t include freight and their doc fee of $499 wasn’t disclosed either. I then checked out a Honda dealer in Cookville that offers a lifetime warranty. They did the traditional bait & switch after I drove over 1 hour to get to them. They did everything to get me to drive their Accord home right now again not disclosing their $499 processing fee until I went to the business office. The payment I was quoted for the car were not the same as the finance manager showed me. The additional $33.51 per month didn’t sit well with me so I left.
That was the best move I ever did.
I called Darrell Waltrip Internet Department and asked them if they would honor their price quote they gave me 2 weeks earlier. They told me no! The price went down $500 because Honda gave them an incentive on the V6 sedans. I drove there and they did honor their new price with out any suprises or games. The whole delivery took 1 hour and 15 minutes. P.S. the payment was $41 less than Cookevilles payment.
I am very pleased to refer everyone to Darrell Waltrip for their straight forward approach to do business with me.
After shopping for the best deal I soon realized the lowest price isn’t always the Best Deal.
Thank you Michael and the entire Internet Department at Darrell Waltrip Honda !
