Saw a Porsche 911 advertised online and phoned about it. Turns out they have a Porsche specialist on staff who assisted me with my questions. It was a pretty simple and easy transaction once my initial questions were answered. Their facility is very nice and they are true auto enthusiasts. I got a great deal on my 2008 911 and stop by to chat with them from time to time. I would say it was one of my best car buying experiences ever.
After buying car “sight unseen”, but based on my prior sales experience at that lot, my vehicle had several problems that had I had diagnostics done by another garage the veh might not have been purchased. Had I read some of these reviews I would have approached more cautiously. I have been promised that a check is in the mail to me because of the repairs that had to be done in Eugene. Buyer Beware is the rule of thumb! Suggest you talk to a salesperson who knows something, ANYTHING, about vehicle and have diagnostic’s done prior to purchase.
Having dealt with this dealership with a positive result prior. I bought a 94 Corvette. They brought it down to Eugene. After driving it I noticed a lack of power and found the radiator etc… were not working properly. I spent
#1100.00 Fixing the problems associated with the cooling system. I have called three times now to find out if they intend to reimburse me, when they plan to reimburse me & or how much they plan to reimburse me. Cliff claims its in Jason’s hands now. Have still not heard from Jason. I also purchased an electrical warranty on the vehicle which I have called several times on now with no response. Prior to this I would have recommended this dealership.
Salesmen and mechanic were completely incompetent. First, I was sold a faulty warranty which took me several months to resolve. Several months of back and worth, salesmen was either forgetting about it and/or ignoring me (extremely frustrating and unprofessional). Second, I had to take the car in several times to have repairs done on it (no problem, it had 79,000 miles on it); however, what made me mad was that they would do such a horrible job on the repair that I would have to bring it back for them to re-do the work. The incompetent mechanic also couldn’t find a major leak in the power steering, insisting I didn’t know what I was talking about. When I took my vehicle to another mechanic, the mechanic easily found the problem and fixed it.
I haven’t nor will I ever recommend this dealership to anyone.
I am sorry that you are upset. I did good will a over $1000 repair to try to keep you happy. I wish this would of went better for you, not our intent. The job was sublet since we were busy and wanted to get you on back on the road the fastest. I would not of spent $1000 for a new rack, if I wanted to make you unhappy, especially since it was well after the sale happend. Good Luck Matt Crandal Speedsports Owner
This dealership is a good example of the saying “BUYER BEWARE”. I called to ask about a vehicle advertised on the internet, and the sales person answered all my questions in an honest way. I asked several questions regarding the cosmetic condition of the car as I would be driving 3 hours each way to see the car and did not want to waste a day on a marginal car. Upon arrival I stood around in the showroom for quite sometime as the sales person was located, this was somewhat annoying. Once the salesman finally got to me and brought me to the car I found it to be visually as describe, maybe better. After my visual inspection, I was offered a test drive and accepted, the car drove nicely with only 44,000 miles, this was as expected.
This is the point where I should have remembered “BUYER BEWARE”, normally I would have set up an inspection with an outside party. I didn’t, it’s my fault entirely and I can only blame myself. The car looked great, ran great and the sales guy had been honest both in person and over the phone up to that point. There were 4 minor issues that I had found and wanted repaired. I offered to pay their asking price (which was top top dollar) if they would fix those minor issues. We agreed and I wrote them a check.
To their credit the issues were all fixed and I picked up the car a week later. Upon getting the car home I began to note some rather expensive things that I had overlooked, but that would have been caught by an inspection; No keys for the wheel locks, an alarm system that would not shut off from the drivers side door, the service record book was from a different car and some of the service receipts were from a third car, the heat/cooling system was stuck in the heat mode and the tool kit was missing, wiring that had been cut and appeared to run to no where. I placed a call to the salesperson I had delt with, but got a completely indifferent response from him. At this point they had my money and it was apparent I was on my own. Bottom line another $1,500. out of my pocket fixed those issues. So I’m now into this car top, top, top dollar…
Getting the title transfered was another frustrating experience. I made several calls to the dealer and spoke with two or three different people trying to get the title sent to my licenseing agency. I left several voice messages that were not returned. Following a number of excuses (coming from California, out sick, on vacation)and almost 5 weeks later the title was finally sent. During that time the temporary permit expired…
Am I happy with the car? YES !!
Would I recommend Speed Sports NO…
I wish I would of heard of this before a review was made. The title had a payoff and had to come from California. Customer bought vehicle on 7-6 and title was fedexed on 7-30, well within the 30 days reguired by law. And less than 5 weeks for sure. We spoke with the customer on many occasions regarding this. This is a 21 year old Porsche. We do our best to check everything out. These are not inexpensive cars to own and maintain. I feel bad there was not any keys for the wheel locks, but we did not get them either. It was a mistake that the prior owner left some reciepts in the car for his other car, but that had no effect on the sale, was found well before the transaction happend. I dont understand that being a issue. We did not over describe this car to the client, we fixed the four issues, he had , plus some extras in addition, got title timely to the client, and did our best to make him happy. Also I know it was one of several Porsche he looked at prior to buying my car. So it must be a nice car, you even say it! So why the bad review, that is what I am looking for? Hope you enjoy your very nice car. Sincerly Matt Crandall Speedsports
It IS a nice car and I am happy with it as I stated in my review. This review was of my experience in dealing with SpeedSports, NOT a review of the car.
You say “I wish I would of heard of this before a review was made” As I have stated in my review I contacted my salesperson with the issues two days after I picked up the car. I got a completely indifferent response…
I asked the salesperson if he knew anything about all the cut wires I was finding, to which he responded that he thought a ‘aftermarket alarm system had been removed’.
This car was advertised on your site as “Original condition, no modifications except upgraded stereo and speakers”.
Yes, we did find that some of the reciepts were wrong (for a VW) when I initally inspected the car at your business. But I did not discover that the Porsche Service Record book and some of the Porsche reciepts were for a completely different Porsche until I got the car home and happened to compared the VIN number in the Service Record book with the car VIN number. The entire service history for this car is now questionable and completely unknown.
As I say in my review finding these issues after the sale is all my fault. “BUYER BEWARE” I did not have an inspection done. I have addressed the wheel locks, heating and alarm issues with an additional $1,500. out of my pocket. The lack of accurate service history is an issue that cannot be resolved. The indifferent response to these issues was SpeedSports choice.
You are correct it was 4 weeks to recieve the title not “almost 5” as I stated. The temporary license expired on 7/31, my license agency contacted me on 8/3 to say they had finally recieved the title.
OUR EXPERIENCE HERE WAS COMPLETELY UTTERLY NEGATIVE. THE FINANCE MANAGER FROM DAY ONE WAS DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH, FINALLY WHEN WE AGREED TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE AT THEIR PRICE, AND WENT TO SIGN THE DEAL, I OPTED TO CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY TO GET THE WARRANTY “$300 less”, THE FINANCE MANAGER BECAME VERY DISGRUNTLED HE WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE IN HIS WORDS HIS BODY LANGUAGE WAS INTIMIDATING AND DISRESPECTFUL. HE YELLED AT ME AND MY WIFE AND LITERALLY HAD US LEAVE, HE TRIED TO SLANDER MY NAME AND INTEGRITY.. HE WAS EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL AND COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. HE ACTED AS IF HE OWNED US, THIS IS WHY CAR SALESMAN DON’T HAVE LICENCES BECAUSE THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE EDUCATED/ACCOUNTABLE. I HOPE TO SPEAK WITH THE GM, AND HOPEFULLY WORK SOMETHING OUT, WE MAY STILL BE WILLING TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE, DO TO ONE SALESMAN THAT WAS VERY NICE AND CORDIAL TO US “PAUL”. IF THE GM IS THE SAME WE WOULD LOVE TO DO BUSINESS WITH HIM, IF HE IS ANYTHING LIKE THE FINANCE MANAGER WE WILL NEVER!! NEVER!! DO BUSINESS THERE. IT WOULD SEEM THEY ARE ONLY TRYING TO GET MONEY FROM YOU THEN DUMP U.. TO BE CONTINUED…
They will say and agree to anything to sell you the car. Will not stand up to their promise to fix problems. They will sell u extended warrenty that is worthless because they wont show u the list of items not covered…there 6 pages. Do not sign any paper work unless u have looked at everything that u will sign and read them all. If they hurry u ..walk away. Thses people have no feelings or compassion for you or your hard earned money….they will be nice yill u sign papers and take keys..then they flatly refuse to even acknowledge you and your problems with the car they sell you…they don’t believe in god….(they told me this, I have e mail to prove) so they do not see cheating and lying as sin.!!!
Do not go to these guys, its not worth it. Liars and cheats. I got a car shipped to me from Speedsports. They lied about the condition. It stinks of cigarette smoke. Exterior paint problems. They will pay no repairs. It took 2 months to get a title. They promised to make it all good. They lied.
I personally did a walk around on the phone with the and went over the car in detail. I posted over 50 high def photos of the car on the website. This was a 11 year old Toyota Echo. Not especially high end car, it was a trade in here, and very clean and nice so we offered it for retail. Eric call right away on it and we accepeted his offer which was almost a 1000 off our price, which is a lot for a $5000 car. His complaint was a smoke smell, we gave him a reimbursement for a detail and a new cabin filter. He bought a car on the west coast because there were no other cars avalible that meet his needs, and on the east coast they are rusted out. Our car was a 11 year old car, inexpensive, and very nice. Delay in title was becuase he sent a personal check, which I told him not to, becuase it would be held till cleared. Paint was all original, with minor road rash. Very typical of Oregon cars where they gravel roads in the winter. Again this was explained in the cell phone. If you have any question regarding this please contact me, Matt Crandall

Don’t know where he got the $1000 off. I think it was $500. In any event I paid over $5500. Re: the delay in the title it had nothing to do with the check. It does not take 2 months for a check to clear. They did not have the title and claimed they could not get it. Well if you don’t have the title and can’t get it for 2 months don’t sell the car.

Guys, I wanted to thank you for your efforts and all you did while we were purchasing our new truck from you. Having never purchased a car without seeing it in person we were very hesitant to buy a vehicle across the country. I originally called in and spoke to Matt and he was nothing but polite and genuine. Everything I asked for was delivered to me in an efficient and expedient manner. You guys did an amazing job working with our credit union here in San Antonio and the only problems we encountered were on our credit union’s end.
I truly appreciate Matt and Christy’s customer service in helping me get the truck delivered on time and releasing it early in “good faith”. I was told when the truck arrived that I could call and get a walkthrough of all the extra features it had that were not stock. I’ve heard the horror stories, like everyone, that once you buy a car you cannot get anyone at the dealership to call you back. The truck arrived a few days ago and Matt was right, I had no idea how to work all the upgrades. I called Speed Sports and was told Matt was not in. Within an hour Josh called me back and explained everything by phone in a clear and concise manner.
The truck is prettier in person than it was on the internet and we absolutely love it. Matt once called and let me know, in detail, what minor issues the truck had and exactly what to expect. He kept nothing from us and the vehicle is exactly as advertised but better!!
I truly want to thank you all for working with us from so far away, putting up with the many phone calls and truly delivering not only an excellent vehicle but and excellent experience. I have absolutely no regrets and would happily recommend Speed Sports to anyone who is in the market for a vehicle. I know buying a car out of state is scary and nerve racking but Speed Sports truly took good care of us and I would gladly purchase another vehicle from them in the future. Thank you again and great luck!!

I contacted Speed Sports after seeing their internet posting of the exact vehicle we were looking for at a great price. Since we live two hours away, I called ahead for more info. Josh spent time on the phone answering several questions about the Ford Expedition, going out to the vehicle to double check a few things. When we arrived, the vehicle was waiting and the discussions were very low pressure. Josh was very easy to work with and we received a deal we were very happy with, including a fair trade-in price for our van. It is not the typical in your face car dealership, which I appreciate. As far as car buying goes, it was an excellent experience.
Great deal of pressure to buy the car and sign the paperwork. However once you buy the car the dealer will NOT stand behind the car they sold you. Things started breaking right away and the car was not running properly. Speedsports would not stand behind the car. The pricing looks good at first, but upon close inpsection all they are selling is polished turds, (nice cars with a lot of problems). Do yourself a favor and skip this place, you’ll be glad you did.
THIS WAS THE WORST. WE HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A TRUCK FOR A FEW YEARS WHEN FINALLY I FOUND THE PERFECT TRUCK AT SPEED SPORTS ONLINE. WE CONTACTED THEM AND DECIDED TO BUY THE TRUCK. WE HAD HEARD A FEW BAD THINGS AND WERE KINDA WEARY ABOUT SENDING THEM THAT MUCH MONEY. WE DID, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SHIP THE TRUCK TO US. WE WERE ANXIOUS TO GET THE TRUCK AND CALLED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS ON ITS WAY. THEY TOLD US IT HAD BEEN SENT ON THAT FRIDAY MORNING. SIX DAYS LATER THEY CALLED US AND SAID IT HAD BEEN STOLEN FROM THE LOT THE NIGHT BEFORE. WHAT HAPPENED? THEY TOLD US IT WAS ON ITS WAY. THEY LIED……WHO KNOWS IF THE TRUCK EVEN EXISTED!
I was in the market for a 2nd car and wanted something fun for the summer. Speedsports had several small sports cars that fit the bill, but the silver Boxter caught my eye. I went for a test drive with Scott and it was love at first engine roar! The whole transaction was painless and quick.I wanted personalized license plates and the dealership handled everything for me – even mounted my new plates when they arrived. I love my car and love driving it. 🙂
Attention Potential Speed Sports Customers!!!
The worst service and help I have ever received came from Speed Sports in Milwaukie, Or. I recently purchased a jeep from the dealership. My initial transaction was fine but the nightmare began when I went to license my new car. First, they did not send the title to my local DMV until after my temporary license had expired (even after 3 phone calls before the expiration). Then, when the title did arrive it did not have the necessary odometer disclosure form with it. Needless to say after 5 weeks and a total of 8 phone calls, talking to 2 managers, 2 salespersons, and the title clerk I finally got my title. I have never worked with a company that was so unorganized and uncaring. I will never go back and recommend that no one else does either. Beware of this dealership!!!
I couldn’t agree with you more! Unless you like to be given the runaround I wouldn’t suggest giving these crooks your business or even your time as they’ll waste it! They use the oldest shady dealership tactics in the book by advertising unbelievably low prices, then accepting any offer you give them over the phone only to get you in the showroom to waste your time by not even having the vehicle of interest on their lot. Then when you call their bluff they will treat you like you’re the bad guy and either hang up on you or order you off their lot. They have no respect for their customers time and obviously have no conscience whatsoever…..this in my horrible experience with this company definitely includes Scott and Justin along with Don and the owner Matt for allowing and probably encouraging these shady tactics. Don’t be undersold by these crooks as it’s definitely a buyers market in the car business.
