I submitted this problem to the BBB after speaking with the service manager and getting nowhere.
Consumer’sOriginal Complaint
Failure toreplace a gasket when reinstalling my turbo oil return hose resulted in oilleak and additional repair. Faulty door repair caused damage.
I recentlytook my auto to an independent repair shop to repair an oil leak and a reardoor latch. The mechanic (a former VW mechanic) showed me that the oil returnhose had been damaged from a former repair and had been improperly installed asit lacked the needed gasket which was the cause of most of the oil leak. Lithiaperformed all engine work on my car up to this point and had replaced my turboin 2008. This same mechanic repaired my rear door latch as the door would notopen. He mentioned that someone had worked on this prior as he noticed a looseclip that had been glued in there. This clip had come loose and jammed thelatch causing it to break. I have a receipt where Lithia performed a recall onmy rear door latches and glued thse clips in place. Both of these reapirs wereneeded due to faulty workmanship. The service manager did nothing to look intothis, expressed doubt this could have happened and eventually offered $150 indealer credit when my expenses for these reapirs were $780, not to mentionplenty of inconvenience to be without my car while these repairs were done.
Consumer’sDesired Resolution:
I expectLithia to pay for the repairs resulting from the improper installation of theturbo return hose and for the repair of the rear door latch which was brokenbecause the clip they glued in there caused it to break. I also paid Lithia$120 to diagnose the door latch problem. So a total of $780 is requested.I am areasonable person, a hospice chaplain by occupation. I just want the legitimateexpenses covered.
