On Mother’s Day, 2014, my wife and I went to Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz in Newport Beach, CA to lease a new 2014 Mercedes-Benz SL550 on the recommendation of our best friends. (They had just leased a new SL550 on the factory special) We were told that the sales manager, Cushman King, was an honorable person and that we could trust that we were getting a great car and the Mercedes-Benz website special for SL550’s. The latter was not true. The Mercedes-Benz on line offer was $7000 due at signing and $1149 per month. Cushman King told us that it was $10000 down and $1274 per month and he didn’t even pay for the license plate! I had to pay my state for the license plate because Cushman King used the licensing fee for extra gross profit! So the moral of the story is you can’t trust the people at Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz. We thought that the dealer would not lie to us for $7000 extra profit. Wrong. I thought Mercedes-Benz dealers were better than other dealers. After our experience, it is clear that they will lie and cheat. For these reasons, we will never buy or lease another vehicle from Fletcher-Jones. In addition to the above, Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz told us that one of us would have to personally guarantee the company car lease. Our company has purchased and leased numerous vehicles for 20 years and no one has ever asked our company to guarantee a lease or a loan. So reluctantly, my wife agreed to guarantee the lease. The finance person (an unknown female) lied to my wife that this guarantee would not show on her credit, there would be no inquiries on her credit and it would simply be in case the company did not pay for the car. Again, not true. There were numerous inquiries and duplicates on my wife’s credit report causing her FICO score to be reduced. The lease immediately showed on her credit report. Don’t believe anything that this car dealer says because it is not true. And finally, Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz screwed up the paper work so I was delivered a car without a license plate and had to drive around for almost three months before they could get a title so that my company could get a license plate for the vehicle. BUYERS BEWARE as Fletcher Jones Mercedes-Benz is simply just a low class seller of very nice vehicles. I am switching back to another luxury brand and another dealer! Finally, when we picked up the vehicle, the car was dirty and it was sitting on the lot for almost a year. Who delivers a car dirty? What a stupid thing to do. The salesman, Rick Kilekas, didn’t even come out to make sure that we were happy with the new car. I had to go and find him and his manager, Cushman King to show them how dirty the car was.
My family has been a loyal Fletcher Jones Mercedes customer for 20 years.
Over the last week we were shocked to deal with their customer service dept.
we have never been treated so poorly. Fletcher Jones Mercedes of Newport beach knows how to do one thing very well …SellCars.
When it comes to resolving service /dangerous safety issues. They get an F.
they have put us through the ringer for over a week on a safety related problem with our 2007 CLK 550 leaking gasoline from the fuel sensors/gas tank under the two rear seats. There are thousands of complaints online and on the Ntsb government website. Mercedes has know of this dangerous safety issue for years and refuses to recall the over one million vehicles with this defect. Our vehicle has 7000 miles on it.. It is a costly fix and their customers should not have to pay the tab on their lack of engineering .
Shame on Mercedes Benz of America and Fletcher Jones Motorcars of Newport Beach, Ca for not issuing an immediate recall on this dangerous safety DEFECT..
Thanks to their so called Top rated customer service team they have lost my families business forever. Never let them tell you they will Reach Out to help you.
If you ever hear them say the following two words (reach out & goodwill) Run for the hills.
They have ZERO interest in customer retention. I will never buy from them again. They have made me into a huge detractor. I will go out of my way to publicize my experience and make sure as many people know about their lack of customer service and commitment as possible.”You pretty much summed up my experience to the T. This is exactly how they work I tried to make contact with the General Manager on a service related issue and got the same response you got..”
Very dishonest, then they avoid calls to deal with concerns and misrepresentations.
I traveled 30 miles from Torrance after speaking to Pon Shen ( salesman), he said he could beat any deal and to give him a chance. So after stopping at Long Beach Mercedes on my way to Fletcher Jones I had at least a base price to use to negotiate. Pon looked at the numbers Long Beach had provided, he topped there trade in offer and topped there price, that was the good news now here is where it all goes south. The car was not in stock but in the way to there dealership. He talked me into leaving a $2000 deposit to give me first write or refusal on the car. The car arrived at the dealer, Pon called me and said it was in. My wife and I made the long trip to pick up our new car. Once there Pon informed me that he trade offer was $3000 to high and he would not be able to increase that offer. He then said his price he quoted me for the car was also to low and would have to be adjusted up about $3000. My wife gets a fleet deal with mercedes, Pon said that to was in question we would have to pay the $2000 fleet discount and he would return the money once Fletcher Jones received the discount (really does anyone out there buy that). So now the price of the deal just went up $8000 from the deal I was promised. When I started questioning Pon he went and got his manager Cush, the first words out of Cush’s mouth were, “You ordered this car”. I corrected him stating we simple put a deposit on a car already being delivered to his dealership per Pon’s request. He apologized but continued his strong arm tactics saying that our offer numbers just wouldn’t work. I then corrected him again and said, “All of this numbers that you have written down are your salesman’s numbers not mine, this is what was promised to us to get us in here”. My wife and I left. I recieved many phone calls from the dealership over the next week, the last few where comical (tragic). A man named James called my wife claiming that Fletcher Jones would now take the deal made with Pon (not the original numbers promised but close), all we had to do is write a check for the agreed to amount and they would even drive the car to my house. My wife called me, I called this James, James told me that we were not going to be able to make a deal. I asked if what he had told my wife was true, he would not give me a yes or no answer and I asked several times. The only one person that has not lied to me at Fletcher Jones was a non sales person Candice who tried to make the deal but at this point I have been lied to by so many employees there how can I believe her! Beware! I have herd that honest reviews like this tend to some how disappear.
Bought a certified pre-owned E350. They were very helpful and responsive prior to purchase.
Picked up the car in the evening after dark. They supposedly prepped the car while I was doing the paperwork (gas up, clean etc). That was a joke – nothing was prepped – they even forgot to put in the floor matts.
Took the car after dark, and noticed the next morning a small “split” in the wood trim near the shifter (which was not there when I originally looked at the car). Called my salesman who said to come in. I had to go in to pick up the floor matts anyway – and tried to see the manager about the issue. He was quite rude and had a horrible attitude. He didn’t want to be bothered by a customer. But I got him to look at it. He said he doubted they would cover it under warranty and he would not be willing to put in a penny into the car.
Long story short – they did not warranty the part – and they want $650 to replace a piece of trim. I tried to get in touch with the manager to discuss and perhaps work out a shared cost etc.
This is what is most unbelievable. HE REFUSES TO CALL ME BACK. I left multiple messages and asked my salesman to have him call me. NOTHING. They could not care less about the customer once you sign on the dotted line.
I have owned many great cars (5 BMWs, Audi, previous Mercedes)- and I have never seen a dealership who cares less about their customers. The manager hides behind his sales people, who in turn say “I’m just a sales person with no power”.
Also beware of Mercedes “protection” program. They give you 7 days to exchange your certified car if you aren’t happy – supposedly with one having similar miles. I tried to do that -but was told “oh, the cars on the lot now are much more expensive and we can’t discount them the way we discounted yours”. So basically you completely lose the ability to negotiate and would have to pay “sticker” price for the exchange car. This makes the program completely worthless. You usually get a 10% – 20% discount off their asking price – but when you go to exchange, you get NOTHING off the asking price. This is a scam in my opinion.
They have made a detractor of me. I will never spend another penny at Fletcher Jones. I will go out of my way to let everyone know my experience. They will reap what they are sowing and will lose business if they treat people like this. STAY AWAY.
BEWARE!! NEVER again! Garth Blumenthal now runs Fletcher Jones with one priority – profit. They have resorted to constant telemarketing under the banner of “we can telemarket to you even though you’re on the don’t call registry, because we have any exiting account with you” – ok, technically, legally, maybe, but really…aren’t you FJMB? The service department has gone from Master MB Mechanics to salesmen hocking detail services and overpriced unnecessary repairs – like you’re at a Midas Muffler shop with FJMB prices. These guys could not figure out why I was loosing 100HP on my car or even perform a correct alignment! I finally drove it from OC to Scottsdale just to have Dyno-comp (Renntech shop) troubleshoot the car. Within 1-hour Dyno-Comp had the alignment dead-on and ID a turbo-charger as the problem. As the car was still under warranty, they sent me back to FJ with the details (I offered to pay them to fix, but they refused to take my money – those guys have skills and class). FJ said they checked it and everything was ok. You’ve got to be kidding! As I didn’t want to drive it all the way back to Scottsdale, I asked BRABUS if they could fix the issue. Andreas’ mechanic at Brabus (truly a master mechanic) found the exact issue Dyno-comp identified and fixed the issue and amazingly 100HP right back. They said turbo-charger was empty and FJ was too lazy to check (guess its a 4-hour process to take apart). Get this – Claus and Andreas at Brabus – fixed it at no charge (again class and skill)! Granted I’ve spent a fair amount of money with Brabus, but nothing compared to what I’ve spent at FJ. They also informed me that the major whining noise I’ve been complaining to FJ about is a leak in the Active Body Control fluid reservoir (they filled it, but suggested taking to FJ under warranty). So car is now back with FJ and they say yeah they’re right it is leaking and that is what’s causing the noise. Too bad you’re over the 50,000 miles so it’ll be $1,100 to fix it. Last time I dealt with these idiots, I swore never again, then their General Manager Garth Blumenthal called me and asked if I’d give them another chance. I knew better, but tried, this time I’m done. Going to Laguna Niguel, hope they’re better, they can’t be worse. Brabus is in LA now and Dyno-comp in Scottsdale – OC really need a competent MB shop – I hope Laguna Niguel is good!
Eric is slick, slick, slick. He will sell you a car, but try to slide little things in without you knowing. I was charged an extra 200 bucks on the down and the guy put an extra 99 cents in my payment….Yes, no big deal, but integrity. Also, when the satellite radio I purchased wasn’t there — he doesn’t call back — ever… you figure it out..SLEEZE….If they ever call me back, I’ll delete this comment.
