I live a hour away from frank leta honda so I had a list of questions to ask my salesperson before I made the drive. I was looking at a 2005 odyssey with 113000 miles on it. Carfax showed the van had been maintained at frank leta since it had 74000 miles on it. I being mechanically inclined asked my salesman to find out if all the 100,000 mile maintnance had been performed specificly the timing belt and water pump. I was told by my salesperson that all required maintence had been done and on these newer odysseys had chains and not belts so the service was not required. I am not a honda expert and he seemed to know exactly what he was talking about. I called the service department two days after I perchased the van and asked them when its next service would be due transmission, oil, spark plugs, ect. They told me they had no record of a timing belt being changed. I being newly educated by my confident salesperson told service that it was not required. Sounded stupid after I said it. I trusted the salesman. So they sold their high milege honda knowing it needed a thousand dollars worth of maintance. Whats worse is they flat out lied when I specificly asked about it before the sale. Their argument is they don’t have proof that their salesman told me that. Don’t trust anything your salesperson tells you. Get it in writing. They offered me $300 off the $1000 of service it should of had 8000 miles ago. I told them thanks but no thanks. Buyer beware don’t trust Frank Leta Honda
I bought a new Honda Odyssey from Frank Leta Honda in October 2012 after my old Honda was totaled in an accident. Due to delays with the two insurance companies and Honda finance with the gap insurance, the matter was not completed until January 2013. I spoke to Honda Financial many times during this time and they told me there was no record of the new vehicle so there were no payments due. If there were back payments due once the paperwork was complete, they assured me that they would differ them to the end of the loan term. So my wife and I used the money to pay medical bills relating to my Parkinson’s disease. Now comes the strange part. At the beginning of February 2013, I was contacted by Kevin Shultz at Frank Leta Honda, who informed me the paperwork was complete and I owed them $1,390.24. When I inquired about the money they claimed I owe them, I was told they made two payments on the vehicle and now I owed them the money. I tried to explain that Honda had agreed to defer the payments and I don’t have the money as it was spent on medical bills, but Frank Leta continued to insist they need the money and have threatened legal action. I don’t understand how they can do this without my permission or knowledge of them making the payments.
