BUYER’S BEWARE of BYER’S . This has got to be the WORST Dealership in AMERICA !!! I was LIED to !! I was told that I was purchasing a low mileage well cared for used car that had been thoroughly inspected by their techs and mechanics.
After getting it home I discovered MAJOR DAMAGE to the underside of the front ! The plastic body panels had been neatly trimmed back to disguise the damage from being noticed. Plastic panels were destroyed and the intercooler for the turbo was damaged badly !! Well over $6000.00 to repair !!
After several Email communications. I sent them a very nice letter with PHOTOS and DOCUMENTATION . They didn’t even have the courtesy to respond !!
Stay FAR FAR AWAY from THEM!! Several years ago I dealt with BYER’S FORD in Delaware. That was a night mare TOO!!! I should have learned my lesson !!!
WORST DEALERSHIP IN AMERICA !!!!
Shellie called me and wanted me to come in to discuss my options on my lease which was ending at the end of February. I had intended to purchase the vehicle out right. I needed until the lease was up to get all of the finances together. She implied I wouldn’t be able to get the funds and said “you will be without a car.” She then said that I could get into a jetta or a PASSAT. She asked which one I would want. I replied the PASSAT SE. A PASSAT was brought around for me to drive while they whisked my car off for inspection. I completed the test drive and saw I was driving a TSI. I looked in the brochure for TSI. I asked what options were on the TSI she replied ” it’s a new engine”. She informed me the car had a auto dimming mirror and asked if I knew how to work it ….it doesn’t have that option. I asked if it had a rain sensing windshield…she replied “yes”… It doesn’t. She informed me when I got into the car that I got a PASSAT WOLFSBURG. I requested an SE. Nothing was ever said about it. I could have put more money down… No one asked for more. I was lied to and she didn’t know what she was selling. Byers told me “she’s new”. I have a case with VW of America. The sales manager Shane was going to “reach out to me and try to work with me” according to VW of A. He just sat in his office looking at me. That is his way of “working with me”. Byers doesn’t care that I have given them 3 great lease returns and leased 2 vehicles. Shellie turned and walked away from me while I was talking. Byers also said “oh well” when I told them I would NEVER set foot on their property again. They don’t care how many cars you buy or lease from them….. They don’t need your business and they are very rude in telling you so. I sure hate to give someone $27,000 to tell me to go to hell, but I did and I will never step foot on their lot EVER AGAIN.
AT A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE FOR MY VEHICLE COOLANT FLUID LEAK WAS FOUND (SOMEONE @ SERVICE DEPT DECIDED TO CREATE THIS LEAK) AFTER DISCUSSION WITH TECHNICIAN I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME SOME $600 TO FIX THE PROBLEM: LEAKING THERMOSTAT COVER CAP. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THIS CAP.
I DROVE MY CAR HOME,TIGHTENED CAP WITH AN ALLEN WRENCH, NO MORE LEAKS.
HIGH PRICES & DIS-HONESTY IS BYERS MOTTO.
I’m in the market for a sports car and found the car that I was looking for at Byers Import. However, I decided not to spend my money at this dealer due to their attitude towards customer service. If I have to describe their attitude towards customer service and sales is “you can buy our car ONLY on OUR terms.” The salesman and the managers have no class in negotiating or accommodating their customers. They were incapable of seeing the situation from the customer’s perspective and just pushed their terms expecting me to agree. When I didn’t agree, they became very disrepectful.I was shocked how unwilling they were to accommodate some customer requests to sell cars. They wouldn’t even stay open one extra hour to sell a car.If you’re looking for a good car buying experience, don’t waste your time and money at Byers!

If there was a more idiotic car dealer rep or service department in Ohio, I’d like to know their names and what zoo they keep them at night . My former Byer Import car rep has the common sense and IQ of seaweed–which is not giving seaweed much credit,
I called him and left a message about the location of simple fuse from a blown lights in a console of my piece of junk 2006 Subaru Forester he sold me this summer–I just wanted a simple quick answer to: Which peg fits in which hole?
Meanwhile, 12 hours after my call to him, I got no answer–I’m sure he sat around drooling in his lap, with his thumb up where the sun doesn’t shine all day wondering–Gosh, Lordy Be– why is he asking me–he should have called our service department!!
All I wanted to know is where simple fuse is located, have a very short time to buy a good Nissan and finally trade the hunk of junk 2006 Suburu Forester that Goober sold me, that has the ride of a WWII half track and rattles like a 1977 Chevy station wagon.
By the way, after talking slowly, with one syllable. words, I called him 12 hours later when I never got a call. He said, ” Duh! I just can’t understand why you were asking me, you should have called our service department”.
Response: “You knew this was urgent to me, why in Gods’ name ddn’t you call me with their numbers, they only work in your building?? Well, buy gum–here “thems” numbers. Idiot.
I called “thems” and of course, as many times before, they never returned my calls either. It’s amazing Mr. Seaweed even knows numbers!
With the unemployment rate in Ohio, it seems the only ones that have jobs are idiots like him, orhe is related to a Mrs. Byers. Let us all hope they never reproduce! Never purchase a car from Byers Imports.
Byers Imports the management, including Eric Friend-Service Manager of all makes & Kevin King-General Manager Of all Makes–Made good on a repair that they could have possibly turned down.
They were professional, understanding and the stood behind the product.
I have always managed people and businesses and was impressed with the way they handled my issues.
I will buy my next car from them.
Mike
I returned my lease for my Subaru on a Saturday. I walked in was greated by a gentlemen, who looked up my info. After he did this he stated the person in that does the paper work was not in and directed me to put the car in the lot and come back. After I did this I was not satisfied so i walked back and asked someone else to help me. All there was to do was to take down the vin number and mileage. The time it took the guy to walk me down to put the car in the lot he could have done this.
stay away from this dealership, they treat you bad.
I went with Honda of Marysville and love it!
Be VERY careful when buying any certified preowned vehicle here. I suggest that before closing on a deal, you take the VIN number and call the manufacturer to find out about the warranty status, because they will advertise your VIN as being certified when it is NOT. Wish I had…my certified vehicle is not at all certified, according to Audi of America.
I leased a Buyers Imports vehicle advertised as certified preowned with 100,00 miles warranty through Thompson & Ward Leasing, which promptly assigned my lease to a bank and went out of business. I only agreed to the deal BECAUSE of the warranty, which I now don’t have, yet the deal is binding now that it was assigned to a lender. This is all because Byers titled a vehicle to Thompson & Ward before receiving payment from them YET I STILL HAVE TO PAY. These shisters decided to punish me, the consumer, for their sloppy shady deal.
Moral of the story is, Byers gets shafted due to their sloppy paperwork, then they turn around and screw the customer. Kevin King, general manager at Byers Imports, stated he does not care about losing customers.
WORST experience EVER. NOT recommended at all. Go with an honorable, reputable dealer, which this is NOT.
Not only were we pushed to try to make a purchase but after being offended by several comments made by the salesman we were met by the manager. The manager did not even offer to help the situation. The manager was even more rude and disrespectul he did not even greet us. He very bluntly asked what the problem was and told us we could go. In fact we were told to leave the comment being “Give them the key (to my own car) and get them out of here”. Just rude! Very disrespectful and degrading to women.
Sorry to hear that, I recently was going to purchase a vehicle there, drove a couple hours to talk to them, was told I wasn’t serious about buying since I wouldn’t sign something stating I would buy that day, even after I stated that once again I was serious about buying. The fact that I wouldn’t sign didn’t make me “less serious” but to them it did and they wouldn’t help me or talk to me at that point….walked out. Got a call later that night stating the bank wouldn’t cover the cost of their car, and the negative equity of my payoff (@ 1200 dollars) which I found funny seeing as they didn’t run my credit, needless to say I will NOT be a customer of theirs.
