I brought my 2007 Cadillac Escalade into DPC figuring that a GM dealer would be my best bet for repairing a few problems on my vehicle. They were nice enough and I thought I was in good hands until I got the vehicle back. They were even kind enough to provide me a quiet space that I could work from with my laptop.
I had brought it in for a defective seat heater and also a very irritating loud whining noise that I thought might be the power steering pump. The paperwork stated that they diagnosed the vehicle and found pump making whining noise on vehicle fluid condition discolored fluid condition and replaced the pump.
I had provided my extended protection plan to them and they had contacted them for authorization and everything seemed to be ok, except they explained to me that I would have a deductible for each item being repaired. I was surprised and decided I would have to wait on the seat heater. I paid my $200 deductible of my $396 bill, glad I saved some money at least.
When I left with the car however I noticed that it was a lot quieter, but as I drove away, the noise began to return, as loud as ever. I called back immediately and they assured me that was normal, and would settle after a day or so – to call back if it didn’t.
The noise persisted and returned as loud as ever, and my wife stopped at a store and could not start it. Completely dead. She called me while I was travelling, so I called Dan Perkins back and talked to someone in service who said that anything they had worked on would not have caused that problem. I explained that the noise was as loud as ever and that I would need to return it anyway. My wife was able to start the vehicle and bring it to the dealer.
Later I get a call and someone at DPC tells me that my idle pulleys were what was making the noise, and that my battery had 4 dead cells. He explains that since there was a problem with my extended service protection plan – that they weren’t paying for the original repair, that he would not be willing to deal with that warranty company and so would not be able to proceed with repairing this problem. I told them I would not be able to afford to pay for the repair without the warranty plan and decided to pick up the car and bring it in when I could afford to buy a new battery (not covered obviously) and another deductible.
I was surprised and determined to try and get my money back on the EPP and called them up and buy GM’s PP which the DPC folks had told me would be a better, more comprehensive plan.
When I spoke to my warranty company, they explained that they did pay the bill, that DPC was trying to collect an additional $28 over the GM published list price for the part, and they refused to pay that amount. They also indicated that DPC had charged nearly double the price of the power steering fluid, but had paid that anyway. I was also told that the deductible was only to be paid once, that all repairs would be covered that were included in my coverage, that were identified at that visit, not $200 for each item.
I tried repeatedly to get Don, Jr. at DPC to help me with this, but they have not returned my calls. I won’t go back there again, nor will I ever by a GM vehicle again since DPC is the only GM dealer close by.
So that is my experience.
I went into Perkins Chevrolet to negotiate a deal on a 2003 Silverado.I came to an agreement on a price, did the paper work and applied for Finacing. All went through without a problem.I was told later that afternoon(Friday 25th) that i was approved and could take the turck home.I wasn’t able to take it because the car i was driving would not have plates on it.I told them i would pick it up Monday.I was called on Saturday(26th) to say the truck was sold to a previous buyer and because my contract wasn’t signed by the GM (who i negotiated the finale price)i had no deal.I was never told there was a deposit on it..Don’t buy from Perkins they are not honest and are only out for the sale..
