Recently released another Nissan from North Coast Nissan. They took care of my last three payments and put me in a new Rogue for the same payment. I’m a happy camper.
Have bought a couple cars from these guys and until recently they have been on the level. I have a 2005 Altima that is very clean with the exception of rotting floor boards on passenger and drivers side which was just discovered (65k miles, bought car with around 30k couple yrs back). After having 3 body shops inspect they all agreed that it is a drainage issue/ design flaw and that this is very unusual for such a new and clean car. I have read numerous posts with this same issue since so do not appear to be the only one affected.
In any case I brought it in to dealership and the service advisor said and I quote “I feel bad but cannot help you because Nissan will not cover”. He further went on to say “they probably built it with cheap sheet metal” and that “I know it’s bullshit and I appreciate you not being a bigger prick about it”.?? Was then referred to Nissan corporate which initially denied claim then came back and had me take time off to get quote and came back again saying there was nothing they could do (about a month worth of back and forth). Bottom line, Nissan and the dealer do not stand behind their product and so there is little incentive to purchase another one going forward. Surprises me that they would let a customer go over what would be a relatively small amount to them, little under $1300 cost to me, not to mention I paid $1600 or so for extended warranty that seems to cover everything except for what goes wrong!
We went out shopping for a new 2009 Nissan Rogue and stopped at a number of local dealers who like to advertise that they are the best and when we stopped in and spoke with Renee she was incrediible. She took the time to listen to us and show us exactly what we wanted nothing more and no pressure. After we purchased the vehicle we sat down with the finance manager Ray Shell and he did the paperwork in a timley fasion and took the extra time to make sure we understood every thing that we signed. No Pressure what so ever. If you are looking for a New Nissan in Cleveland the Best place to stop is North Coast Nissan in Middleburg Hts. And ask for Renee.
My complaint(s) concern the customer service and salesmanship of this dealership.
I leased a 2006 Altima from this dealership. My 3-year lease is expiring this upcoming September 15, 2009. In April of 2009, when looking back at my lease papers, I realized the dealership gave me conflicting paperwork for this lease (i.e., the “Purchase Agreement” said the lease was for 36 months, and the “Lease Agreement” said the lease was for 39 months). When I stopped into the dealership for an oil change and brought this to their attention, I was made to feel that I was being manipulative and was told that the “Lease Agreement” is the end-all be-all, and there was nothing they would do.
In June of 2009, I decided that instead of turning the car back into the dealership at the end of the lease, I would purchase the car for the pay-off amount. Because I have a company-car for work that I drive all the time, this leased Altima was way under-mileage, and my father wanted to purchase it for himself. I called the dealership in June to inquire about the purchase process. I was told that I would need to schedule an appointment when I was ready to come in and purchase the car.
I called Raymond Shell, finance manager at North Coast Nissan, on Monday, July 27th 2009 at approximately 11:30 a.m. I told him that I would like to set up an appointment to come in and purchase the car with my father. He asked for some information from me, and told me that he would call me back by 1:00 or 2:00 pm the same day. I never heard from him on Monday. In fact, I didn’t hear from him on Tuesday (7/28/09) or Wednesday (7/29/09) either. I didn’t think I would have to “beg” a car dealership to purchase a car from them in these economic times; but, with still no call-back from Raymond on Thursday, July 30th, I decided to call him.
Ray wasn’t in when I called on Thursday morning yet, so I left him a voicemail message asking him to call me back so we could set up an appointment to come in and purchase the vehicle. He still hadn’t returned my call by Thursday afternoon, so I called back once again. When Ray got on the phone with me, he was very attitudial, did not apologize for not returning my call until prompted, told me how “busy” he was (as if my time isn’t valuable either), and told me he couldn’t fit me into his schedule because it was now the “last couple of days of the month.” I called Ray on MONDAY……there was no excuse for this!
I asked Ray to let me know when I could come in to purchase the car, and he said he would call me back. He left me a voicemail later that day, letting me know how much the pay-off amount would be (which I already knew…he was just “buying time”), and told me to call him back to set up an appointment. I called Raymond on Friday, July 31st to set up an appointment…..he didn’t answer…..so I left a message asking him to call me back. Surprise: he never called back!
Finally, on Saturday, August 1, 2009, I called the dealership and asked to speak to Ray. I was told that he was accepting deliveries. I asked to speak to someone else in finance, explained the situation, and said I was coming in this morning to purchase the car. I was pushed off, told it was “too busy”, etc, etc, etc…..but I didn’t take “no” for an answer. I told them I was coming in at 11:30 a.m. to purchase the car, to which I was told “we’ll do the best we can.” In retrospect, I still can’t believe I had to practically BEG to come in an pay the dealership $13,500 for a car!
When my father and I arrived at North Coast Nissan to purchase the car, I can honestly say that I have NEVER been made to feel SO UNCOMFORTABLE in any “buying-situation.” Here’s my father…..a man that isn’t made of money……coming in to purchase a $13,000 car….and not 1 person in the dealership greeted us upon entering, said “hello”…..NOTHING. Moreover, the dealership was NOT BUSY at all….and still-everyone there treated us as if they could care less to have our business.
Ray came out and asked for the keys to the car to check the mileage on it, and he didn’t shake my father’s hand, didn’t introduce himself….NOTHING: he made my father feel like he was “bugging” him. If it weren’t for my brother in college desperately needing a car, my father was ready to walk out of the dealership without purchasing the car.
The entire purchase-process was awful! Ray again expressed how “busy” he was and how they “normally don’t do lease-purchases at the end of the month.” It was AUGUST 1st, and there wasn’t a soul in the dealership! They didn’t seem busy to us!
The entire purchase-process took less than 20 minutes! 20 MINUTES….and Ray couldn’t “fit this into his schedule” all week! He didn’t even thank my father for the purchase.
All in all, this was the worst car-buying experience I have ever had. My husband bought a Nissan Maxima from a dealership in North Olmsted, Ohio…..and that dealership will forever have our business. I will NEVER buy a car from North Coast Nissan again, and I’m making it my mission to spread this bad customer service story to whomever is considering purchasing a car from North Coast Nissan.
