BAAAAD EXPERIANCE! STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!
I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. Boy they are deceptive, lie and can’t keep their promises. And they will make more mony off of you someother way.Very bad customer sevice. Mass confussion with all the departments.Just all around BAD! Save yourselves alot of headaches and go somewhere else. I was warned about this place and didn’t listen please don’t do the same.
Buyer beware, The FBI is currently investigating this car dealership for fraud and the CT Attorney general is too. Give them 3 months and they will be shut down
The people here are amazingly rude, lie through their teeth and are just interested in a numbers game. I walked in with triple A credit and was told by the finance guy that they would try to get me a good rate but it was going to be tough, that was it I walked out went to Middletown Toyota and walked out with 2 percent financing with just 1590 down
My family and I have had a very bad experience at Barberino in Wallingford. On Sunday February 19, 2012, we went there to check car prices and we were interested in purchasing a red 2007 jeep compass. This very nice seller named Patrick star ******** was helping us to make a deal but we couldn’t afford the payment. He worked very hard with us to try to low the payment. He went to get his manager named David. Just in case if Patrick was not there then the manager could help us but that was a big mistake. In less than 2 minutes the manager told us in different words buy the car or get the fuck out. I don’t know if he is racist or maybe he has an attitude problem but if you are thinking to go to Barberino in Wallingford to shop for car and you are forced to deal with this manager think twice especially if you are Spanish. But 1 thing came out of everything. We went to another dealer and we got the same car, same year for half the price they were asking for. I recommend that you shop around first before you go to Barberino so you will not get the bad experience we went through treating us like you are a piece of shit because that’s how he tried to make us feel. Barberino owners please hire Patrick as a manager and terminate David. He doesn’t know how to treat costumer unless you want to continue losing costumers.
To all the peoples that trust on the high rating reviews please be awear to the dates that the reviews have been writen !!!
day after day or at the same day!!!!!!!
I’m wandering who wrote them ,if not them !!!!!
Dont go there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL the good comments that here im asuming that barberino wrote by them self!
I had and still have bad expireance with them .
They sold my car with alot of dammages, told me that my car is a personal leasing but let my sign on rental vehicle .they told me that they will certified my car they didn’t do so .They distract mainds !!!!
John the manager think that he smart that he can trick peoples and cover him self ,but laying thats not the way !!!!!
Before you decide to buy from barberino make a resarch :bbb (they rate D)and other consumer company and you will realize who you realy deal with .
If you are thinking of buying from this dealer , do yourself a favor and run in the other direction as fast as you can !
This dealership misrepresents , makes promises , and after you write the check they will not follow thru on the promiss.
car was not delivered as promissed , it was not ready at the stated time , and this was with a three day notice ! the car needed some safety issues straightened out , and were not done at all , then i was told that the repairs were too costly and they were not going to do them
yes this was a used Acura in really nice condition , thing is , they wrote right on the original bill of sale that these issues were to be taken care of , my mistake was , that i left my copy on the sales desk after signing and paying for the car , i called to set up a date to do the repairs , which means an hour drive for me back to the dealership to leave the car . they called two days later to tell me that the repairs needed, which were brakes , a little touch up paint and new headlight lenses were not going to be replaced , because of the cost ( and they said that a total replacement was going to be done , no problem)
They then said that i could bring it back again when they had time to try and clean the lenses , they new damned well that most people would not come back.
I would have sent them to the DMV as a complaint but just got fed up with the lies , i fixed the problems myself , for $200.00 !! neveragain will i buy anything from this dealership !! nor will i ever say anything positve about a negative experience ! BUYER BEWARE !!!!
They worked well with me and were extremely polite. Barberinos even took my trade in vehicle that had to get towed in!
The salesman was very helpful, and the staff was pleasent. My fiance and I both bought cars from Barberinos in the same week.
Ryan was extremely helpful, laid back, and nice. I was able to get into a relatively new used car that I love.
yes right it’s so obious that all the high rating made in the same day???!!!!
i’m wandering who wrote thous comments???-if not they?!!!
Very happy with my recent experience at Barberino, I was able to drive away in a newer Minivan for a great deal that same day! Thankyou!:)
I was very happy at Barberino, Pete got me in a minivan that day regardless of my credit history! Very happy with it and I cant believe how quickly I was a able to get it! Thanks so much!:)
After my boyfriend bought a car at Barberino Nissan, we had such a good experience that i went back and purchased a new car. They gave me a great trade in deal and worked with me in every way. I would recommend them anytime
My fiance and I went to Barberino because we were interested in buying a new car and we were skeptical at first because of our unpleasant experience with a local Nissan dealership. We had become very discourage because we were told that are credit score was not high enough but it too low that Barberino could not get us approved for a new car. The salesperson that we worked with was phenomenal and very knowledgeable about the car selling business. We felt very confortable with his approach and he answered all our questions with honesty and sincerity. My fiance and I noticed that the Barberino staff worked very well together making sure that their customers are very happy and satisfied. We are very pleased with our new car and we plan to buy a new truck from them in the near future. 🙂
My sister recommended me and I would definitely recommend Barberino also!!!!
Barbarino provided me with the car I needed!!
Whenever I went to drop my car off for any of the repairs I was given a estimated wait time. My car was always ready before or at the exact time the said it would be ready. If my car needed to stay overnight I was given a very nice rental.
I would recommend them to a friend
I recently bought a 2008 Audi A4 Quattro from Barberino. The car runs great I got a good deal on it and free oil changes for 2 yrs. The staff were friendly and I couldnt be more happy with my purchase. I had a run in with the owner Paul and he also assisted me in getting everything i needed. Overall I had a good experience with this dealer and would reccomend them to my friends and family. 🙂
We had heard a lot of mixed reviews about Barberino Nissan. But none of the negative came true. They were very helpful, and kind. Our salesman Pat was great helped us pick out a great car and made the whole process very easy on us. We would definitely return to buy another car.
I went with my boyfriend to Barberino Nissan of Wallingford, CT not expecting to purchase a vehicle of my own, but after seeing that they were able to get him into the vehicle that he wanted I decided to try for myself. I explained to my sales rep Patrick Reilly that I really wanted to get into an Altima because I needed more room for my 3year old son, and I just really liked the car. He did his best and now I’m driving my brand new 2011 Nissan Altima S Special Edition. That day we drove off with not one, BUT two cars..Thanks Barberino! 😀 Hey John, we can still try to get my son in those commericals… “OH YEAH!”
My visit to Barberino Nissan of Wallingford,CT was very pleasureable. I heard about the dealership from the commercials on t.v. I called them and spoke with Patrick who was an excellent sales person who went above and beyond to get me into a reliable vehicle and that he did. I am now driving a brand new 2011 Altima in which I love. Thank You, Barberino Nissan
I went into the dealership intending to buy a used car.The salesperson told me that for about the same money I could buy a new Versa and have all the amenities of a new car. That was very appealing to me,so I purchased one.:)
 i walked into barberino doubtful. once I met and talked with Hugo my spirit only got better . Mike Mich in financing worked hard and constantly to get me approved. I went in looking for a suv I left with a 2011 Nissan Versa with a
monthly payment that works with my income and budget perfectly. I hilghly
recommend this dealer to anyone. Make sure you ask for hugo. I love my car
I was also given a card by general manager John Barberino and told to call if i had any questioins. They even register my vehicle I didn’t have to deal waiting in long
lines at the dmv I left barberino happy happy:):p:D
Staff friendly, did not feel pressured, can not think of anything negative.
awesome experience purchasing a new vehicle ever. the salesman are so helpful in getting you what you want. they offer great pricing, and great finacing. barberino prices are so much better than any dealership in connecticut. they have so many vehicles to choose from.:p

This is the 4th car we have purchased here. They are a great dealership and that is why we do business here.
I consider myself to be a “tough customer”. I had done research of the car I wanted, and had many questions before I made this purchase. I made several phone calls to Patrick Riley each day before my purchase took place on 2/19/11 and Patrick was extremely available to me. When he was not available at the time I phoned, I got a call back promptly. I also had personal dealings with Paul Barberino himself and I was MORE than satisfied.
I had a question regarding my new car purchase at 9:00pm the Saturday evening of my purchase. I phoned Mr. Barberino’s cell phone and left a message. He returned my call within 5 minutes (clearly after business hours have ceased). He rectified my minor issue first thing Monday morning as he had promised on the phone Saturday evening. I am 100% satisfied with my dealings with Barberino, and I would recommend them highly.
My experience at Barberino was just what the commercial said with Alex and Jermaine. Alex was very helpful and he took the time to explain what I was looking for and I was happy with my new 2011 Nissan Sentra.

my visit was very satistfying and was happy with the outcome i love barberino brothers and i will recommend all my friends
PROFESSIONAL, LOW PRESSURE, AND COOPERATIVE SALES. HUGO SHOWED ME EXACTLY WHAT I REQUESTED TO SEE. TEST DRIVE WAS WELL DONE, NOT PUSHY. HGHO WAS ARTICULATE AND GRACIOUS, EVEN THOUGH I TOLD HIM I WAS NOT BUYING THE CAR THAT DAY HE DID NOT MAKE ME FEEL INSIGNIFICANT AS A CONSUMER, BUYING THE LOSEST END OF THE NISSAN LINE. THE NEXT DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR. HUGO WAS THE BEST. I APPRECIATED HIS CALM AND INTELLIGENT. VERY COMPENENT SALES PERSON!
My experience at Barberino was just what the commercial stated with Alex and Jermaine. Alex was very helpful and he took the time to explain things to me. I got exactly what I came in looking for and needless to say I left happy!

I was treated very good until they got my down payment. Just like all the rest. Put money down and were 100% sure we can get you approved. Bull Shit. My Credit score is a 721 (I monitor my credit) they told me my score was ZERO. Hmmmmm. I was lied to 4 times in a 24 hour period by Mark.
1st time –I’ll have an answer for you by 10am.
2nd time– I called at noon, response I promise to call you back in 10 min.
3rd time– 3 hours later from second lie I called back, response I promise to call you back by 4:30pm.
4th time He didnt call back from the 3rd lie.
If your gonna take a downpayment from me and not call back as promised at least give me a reach around or tell me you love me first. I would have more repect and understanding for them if they had called back as promised. If it takes more than 8 hours to get me financed maybe you should realize it’s not possible and stop trying with your 3 million banks from califorina, tokyo, and aulstraila. I’m sure they could of had me approved if I put down 14,000. on a 15,000. auto loan.
When I went back for my deposit, Mark wouldnt even look me in the eye, but b-4 the downpayment was in his hands the day prior, he looked me in the eyes when he spoke leading me to believe that he was sincere. That my friends is an amazing talent. You should remember me Mark, my name is Scott.
Oh the person wasnt there to swipe my bank card to refund my money. All I got was a refund receipt so I’m sure I will have to call my bank for a charge back.
BE WARY !!!
Read your contract carefully. I made the mistake of purchasing a used car from this dealership. I was sold VIN ethching I did not agree to, GAP insurance that the finance manager said was required and charged more for the car than was advertised on the internet. They falsely inflate the value of your trade in so you feel you are getting a fair deal, but then in turn raise the price of the car you purchase. One of the most unethical dealerships I have ever dealt with.
I would never recommend Barberino’s to anyone. I ultimately purchased the car b/c I needed it. Period. It was certainly not because of good service. I got none of that. All I got were lies and excuses. The first quote I received was changed by the next day – and the salespeople/managers acted as if it was my fault I didn’t buy right away! Never mind that I was told that the quote would be available for the next few days. Then I don’t get my car for over a week, even though I receive phone calls each day since making my deposit – calls asking me when I can get the car, etc. Every day was something new – some new information they needed that they didn’t tell me they needed before. When it seemed everything was finally all together, I was told I could go and get my car. I go at the appointed time but then am told I still can’t take the car home because of some “paperwork issues.” (I left the dealership empty-handed after 40 minutes of waiting around.) A few days later, the car is finally ready – except it’s not ‘the’ car I was originally promised – apparently, they thought I wasn’t serious about purchasing the car and sold the promised car to another customer! This is DESPITE the fact that I had already made a deposit, signed the initial paperwork, spoke to them every single day, and made adjustments to my insurance and provided proof of that. People were not even apologetic, saying I didn’t seem “sure” I was going to buy the car. They found another car to replace it immediately after an ultimatum was set; how convenient. Every step of the way were more lies and excuses. The finance/business manager was particularly cold and unhelpful. A nicer attitude would’ve gone a long way for me, but instead, all I got was yelled at because they were giving me a deal the finance manager called “stupid” (he forgot that he was the one who made the deal with me in the first place). Very unprofessional, angry, and rude. He belittled the time I had spent dealing with them and made me feel like all the trouble I’d encountered with them was my fault. The whole experience was horrible for me, and no one else should have to go through with something like this. People there are quick to tell you they’re the “#1 Nissan Dealer” around. Lies. BOTTOM LINE: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET YOUR NISSAN. You’ll be thankful you did, even if the price might be a little higher than Barberino’s.
Thanks soooooooooo much “stay away” for posting your comments, because of the warning you gave, I’ve decided to NOT to purchase a pair of boxers from them. lol….I did put in on-line application and was contacted by “Jennifer” and was told I was “pre-approved”. Then she told me my credit score was a “0”????? So I went to freecreditreport.com and got my score from all three credit bureaus and NEEDLESS TO SAY, SHE LIED.
I was already skeptical to began with when I saw your statement (stay away) and I still thought about it, BUT thanks to Jennifer and her fabricated truth its a 90% chance i won’t buy a vehicle from Barbz! TAKE A BOW JEN!!! LMAO…. what makes it WORSE is that my uncle who works @ sikorsky wants another car and asked me where he should get a car from this time.
I will say that Mike B. was cool and seemed to know what he was talking about though. If he called me and said we can get you in a used Benz, i’d probably buy it….smh @ myself..lol

I went to barberino after trying to get financed a few different places where I live (waterbury). I explained my situation to the internet rep randy and he told me exactly what to bring when I came down. I was treated fairly by everyone there, they gave me decent money for my trade and even tho I had a repo before they still got me financed on a 2009 dodge charger (now what) 3.5! The dealership is clean and the staff is attentive to your needs. they shopped my deal to a few different banks and they got me a lower interest rate! I would recommend barberino to anyone looking for a car!
Barberino’s treated me great! They gave me over book value on my trade in.. got me a low interest rate and my salesman Geoff Mongillo was very professional! Thanks guys!
First I called the dealership about a car I saw on their web site, and was told, “yes we still have the car” then I was on my way about a mile from the dealership called them cause I was not sure where I was at, and went ahead and asked if they still had the car, I was told, “yes we still have it”. Then I finally got in, I ended up with a different sales person that was more than willing to help me. I asked at this point if he had the car and he said “yes” he went to get the key’s. Came back, with the key in hand along with a sheet of paper and said, “we have the key’s, but I can not locate the car.” He went looking for the car again and ask where it was to find out that they sold it the day before (supposedly). He asked what I was looking for, I told him “I wanted a Nissan, and nothing else, anything else as far as what was in it, was luxury to me.” (Like, leather, sun roof and a Bose system) My dad was helping me finance the car, and took our info and said we were only approved for 1 vehicle and brought around a dodge durango. I said “no.” Then they brought a Maxima around, that was a stick shift and I told them, “I can not drive a stick, do not know how” Then they brought a Pontiac vibe. And my dad and I said that it was time to leave then low and behold they brought another Maxima around. We drove it, it seemed nice. Then I asked for the carfax, they said they do not do that on older vehicles, as a sucker and a truster, I took it as “ok”. Then we signed a document saying we would give them a certain amount of money. As we were leaving, I said to them that “I wanted a headrest” (One was missing) by tomorrow, which was the day of pick up with the remaining amount of money. I ended up going in and decided after seeing the car, that it was not cleaned up, and asking if I could see under the hood, the trunk etc, he said I was under warranty, that there was nothing to see, at this point I no longer wanted to go through with the deal! Not to mention I did not get my head rest by this time, they actually removed the other so now I was out of both, and they ordered both! My salesman raised his voice at me saying “It may be for the… (You fill in the blank here)” I took it as “for the best” I was at this time told that the money I put down was non refundable, and the money owed was still owed, because they basically earned it, going to the banks asking for the loans, doing the paper work, etc. I went and made a call, and was told they were bluffing, playing games, (Bate and switch, strong arming me etc.). I then went in and spoke with Dave Richardson, and he was very calm and COLD! He stared at me in the eyes and said my dad would be sued among other things. (I did say “and if I call the cops?”, “Contact DMV?” (So at this point I am sure he was pretty annoyed with me, but I did not deserve what was about to be said! He then got up, after I said I needed to make a phone call, as he walked off Dave Richardson said “After this, I do not want to see your face in this dealership again!” My children heard this and we were very upset! I did not want my dad going through that considering he was helping ME! So very reluctantly I signed the papers, and came home with the car, and same day, the engine light is now on and the struts I am told is going. BUYER BEWARE!!! Don’t be like me, do not give them your time or your money!
I would not recommed Barberinos. I sent in my paperwork first to see what I would be approved for. I was laid off from my job and are behind on bills so my credit sucks right now. I was told I was approved for a certain amount, went there looked for a car found one. Was brought out a price and was told how much payments were. I said this is the total for everything and was told yes. Finally six days later went back to do paper work and the total turned out to be just the price of the car. I live one hour away and I had the car so I felt I had to sign the papers and got screwed. Payments are more than I was told. Also was told every used car was under a two year warranty. OH they forgot to tell me it would cost $1400. The car is nice I like it, but I am still not happy. When you are out of work and you need to get something reliable to find a job you will do anything. I think the people at Barberinos know that and when you walk in they say here comes another one. Just had to get that of my chest thanks for listening.

I would NOT recommend this dealership to anyone! It started out well and even though we purchased our vehicle, it was all down hill after the sale was made! Promises were not fulfilled, people we dealt with were rude and insensitive to what we had to say, phone calls were NEVER returned, and correspondence via email addressed us as being rude when in fact we are frustrated about this experience, so we put it in writing and we get attitude back ,amazing! Bottom line is this, if you make promises to your customers, follow through and deliver on them! And the staff needs to learn how to be more professional in handling issues! NEVER again!
We respect the negative feedback that anyone may have had about our dealership in the past. We have made dramatic changes in management both in sales and service to better serve our existing and future customers. We apologize for the inconvenience we have cause any of our previous customers but we have changed just for you. Please contact or visit us at anytime.
Barberino Brothers Inc.
yeah things changed for the wrose!
This place seems to go above and beyond to live up to the “used car salesman” stereotype. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I was shufffled around to three different people and before I even got out of the car I test drove, I was being pressured to put down a deposit and sign contracts. I DIDN’T EVEN LIKE THE CAR I TEST DROVE, not that the guy would listen to me! They were trying to get me to financing based on the car I DIDN’T like and talking monthly payments that were ridiculous. I literally felt like I was drowning. Luckily I got out before signing anytihng.
They DO have a bad reputation and now I see why. Yuck.
We were greeted at the door and told the sales person we just were going to look at their used cars. He asked us to come in and began filling out a customer information sheet. When he asked for our SSN’s, I asked him why he needed them, and he told me it was because they were going to see what kind of loan/rate they could get us. Mind you, we hadn’t even LOOKED at a car! I told him that before we discussed finances, I wanted to at least LOOK at the inventory to make sure there was something we would be interested in. He kept pushing the issue and we got up to leave. At that point, a manager came over and gave us the spiel about how he didn’t want us to fall in love iwth a car that he couldn’t get us in to. I explained that we just wanted to see what their inventory was and that I wasn’t comfortable discussing any financal information until we were interested in an actual car. I mean, if there was nothing we liked on the lot, and our credit reports had been run, we would be facing multiple credit inquiries which could adversely affect us at another dealership! The manager became very rude and loud, and we left.
I think this dealership has a reputation for working with people with bad credit and they feel as though they can push them around and bully them because their options are more limited. And I would encourage these customers to stay away.
The sad part is… we purchased a car there about two years ago, unaware of their awful reputation. When we’ve mentioned Barberino to people they’ve ALL shuddered! This place is KNOWN for these tactics! I still defended the place saying that our last experience was great.
We were completely prepared to purchase another car that day. And we did…. somewhere else!
I am very disturbed by the review that was left by an alleged customer. I am the Customer Relations Manager at Barberino Nissan. We are not a rude, high pressure car dealership. We do ask customers for their personal information so that we can get them approved for financing should they require it.
This is a common practice at most car dealerships all over the US. Here at Barberino Nissan, we treat our customers with the repsect that they deserve.
We realized that there are maney dealerships to choose from. We have no need or interetst in being rude to customers. That is just not the way we do business here. Which is one of the reasons that we are one of the areas oldest and most respected delaers in the state.
I hope we can have the chance to prove this to all new and returning customers.
By any chance if you come to the dealership and you are not complety happy, I want to know about it!!!

I am not an “alleged” customer… I am an EX-Customer and this is EXACTLY what occured at your dealership on 8/19. When I refused to give your sales person my SSN for the basic “customer information” sheet, I was treated like I was being difficult and unreasonable.
Is it common practice at dealerships to require a credit check before a customer even looks at the inventory? To me it seems counterproductive on both the dealership’s end and the customer’s end… a complete waste of time and unneeded inquiries on your credit report.
And furthermore, the salesperson and manager had our basic contact information from the sheet. If you were that concerned, you should have contacted us.
