This Vehicle has performed incredible since then for the last 20 k miles including a recent trip to Niagara Falls, Canada, until the recent problem occurred.
Vehicle began running a bit rough and the check engine light came on. We took the vehicle at that time to:
Covington Automotive
19653 Highway 36
Covington, La 70435
(985) 892-2502
They stated that they believed it was a coil shorting but since they could not read the diagnostic code it would be better to take it to Land Rover to be sure that was indeed the problem.
Contacted Land Rover, New Orleans was told that it would be a two week wait before they could look at the vehicle and we agreed to a service date to run diagnostics on their computer at a cost of $115.00 plus tax.
Since the diagnostics showed a misfire Invoice 243198 (LRNO) we thought that since the vehicle was already there to let the experts handle it. Plugs and wires were changed and the vehicle was ready for pickup.
Note: Check Engine light was on at pickup of vehicle and they returned it to service Dept. to see what the problem was. When vehicle was returned light was off and being the experts they told us not to worry and we drove away.
See Invoice: $792.96 fixed repaired great no problem.
Half way across causeway the light was back on this is approximately 12 miles or so but my wife said the vehicle felt great.
We do not use this vehicle much because it is only my wife and I so it sat in the drive for a few days or so and probably ran a few short errands around town. We went to take our dogs for a ride, and it ran rough again so we parked it. My wife called Land Rover to say that the engine light is on again and it is running like it did before we took it in originally. Jessica, in service said to bring it back in and they would work it in to see what was the problem, without another two week wait.
We were on our way to bring it back to Land Rover, when about 4 miles down the road the temp guage went up. I pulled into a gas station and saw steam coming from under the Plenum (intake manifold). We let the vehicle cool and had it towed home.
Being an Engineer by trade (credentials available) I had researched the job at hand and the extensive labor cost for a tune-up on a Land Rover Bosch engine is because the Plenum must be removed to perform this function.
We contacted Land Rover New Orleans and expected a simple “oh-shit, we just have not reassembled it quite right! We’ll get it right” from them so we had the car towed once again:

Problem Encountered
Land Rover New Orleans gave us a new estimate of $1175.00 to repair the current problem. Craig Diebold the Service Manager stated that we had refused to have an overheating problem repaired on this vehicle in the past. This is the first time that we have taken the vehicle to Land Rover ever. Our vehicle’s Carfax never shows it being at Land Rover New Orleans. If it was, they did not record it.
Furthermore if Land Rover New Orleans actually values us as customers as Mr. Diebold states, than maybe his vehicle research should identify the consumer who refused prior service and not just associate me as VIN number. I do not dispute that this vehicle had a problem in the past, just not with me. And since 30K miles have been driven since the time he references I believe this problem must have been addressed at some point.
See H & K repair work in vehicle history report.
This was not acceptable to us so we in turn wrote Land Rover N. A and the BBB a complaint against Land Rover New Orleans.
The result of that complaint was as follows:
Land Rover North America stated that they could do nothing since the vehicle had exhausted the factory warranty. Fair enough I suppose but Land Rover New Orleans is your local representation.
BBB correspondence shows that MR Diebold is willing to discount the repair $200.00 dollars and make it only $975.00.
The hell with that! We decided to bring the vehicle back to our mechanic, so here comes the tow truck again: But before pick-up they insisted on another charge to be paid to them for this visit and estimate of $125.61.

Talked to Covington Automotive and told them my nightmare story of Land Rover New Orleans Experience. They agreed to look at the car but stated that they still did not have the software to diagnose the engine light problem. The car was towed to them to look at.

Synopsis
My vehicle runs better and stronger after the plug and wire change but still idles rough and has check engine light flash periodically.
I have incurred the expense of having my car towed three times due to the incompetence of Land Rover New Orleans. It drove into their lot on its own initially, just ran a little rough.
I cannot for the life of me fathom that Land Rover New Orleans could not have seen a loose hose clamp and instead gave me an $1175.00 dollar estimate for repair when a local shop did it for $40.89.
I feel that Land Rover New Orleans should incur the expense of my car being towed and I also feel like MR Diebold should think it possible for one of his technicians to make a mistake. Although I appreciate that he has to stand behind his technicians, he being the Service Manager should oversee this department more closely. I say technicians because the work performed initially was by John Pratt Lic#5790, and the misdiagnosis on the shoddy workmanship of John was overlooked by Craig Ricks Sr Lic#1719 on the second visit.
I also feel that for Land Rover New Orleans to charge me $125.61 for not seeing they left a hose loose is totally unjustified. I expect a return to my credit card for those charges.
I love my Land Rover but I am not sure who to turn to to diagnose my check engine light now, certainly not the experts. Maybe Land Rover Baton Rouge could do a better job but they are one and the same. I would say that Land Rover North America should take a good hard look at the representation the have for Southern Louisiana.
