Too many bad things to cover. Went to look at two Corvettes. Both were filthy inside and out. Ripped seats, missing parts inside, cracked up targa top on the coupe. The coupe was filthy inside with stains and other easily fixed issues. Too dirty inside to even consider.
The 98 Convertible was better outside but OMG the inside. Drivers seat nearly distroyed and needed immediate repair. Antilock brake like was on indicating a problem, traction control light on indicating a problem, oil pressure gauge pegged at the max, door locks did not function, trunk latch button did not work, and the battery was dead.
Sales girl, don’t even remember her name, seemed to think this was a nice car. I hope she was new.
Finally got the car started and she asked if I wanted to take a test drive. Once I saw all the warning lights I should have just left but after driving two hours to get there I figured I might as well. I asked her is she needed to get a dealer tag and she just looked at me like I was crazy and said that was too much trouble and she was just claim she forgot if we got stopped by the police. Of course I’ve been a police officer for 20 years. Ill remember that the next time I stop a dealership car without a tag.
The car did seem to run well and the brakes did stop but of course I did not need the antilock brakes for my test drive. During the drive I keep hearing a chirping sound and non original holes in the dash kept lighting up. She had no idea what they were. It was not long before I realized it had a built in radar detector in the front of the car. Again, illegal in Va. Good grief.
So we get back and she actually asks me what I thought and if I liked the price. This is where I was even further infuriated after wasting my whole day. I said well the price is not too bad but went over all the issues with the car. I told her those would have to be looked at before I would consider buying the car. She seemed shocked as earlier she had mentioned that they would recommend a good Corvette shop to me. She actually really thought I should buy the car and them pay for the repairs.
I questioned her about this and she said, unbelievably, we don’t fix this kind of stuff until we know someone is really interested in the car. I’m thinking to my self I am on candid camera. I told her no one is going to be interested in the car with those problems that could cost $50 or could cost $5000. Her response, well we sell some of those cars at auction. I’m guess they just wait to see if some idiot buys it for $13k and if not sell it at auction for $7000.
I have never worked at a car dealership but normally purchase from dealers figuring I normally get a better product that has been services and prepared for sale. I was so wrong In this case. Let me explai. How this should have worked.
When I called yesterday and inquired with Wenton the two cars I was interested in he should have gone out looked at them and made sure they were presentable for sale. Then he should have called me back to give me an update. When I arrived at the dealership Wenton was off but ill let that slide even though I was there at the time I gave him over the phone. The cars would have been in running condition and cleaned without stains and filth in the cars.
Kip Kollman feel free to use my address on the test drive form and send me my $35 in gas. Ill eat my five hours driving to northern Va. As you know everyone enjoys that trip.
Wow, where to begin.
I arrived at the dealership to have a look at a Trans Am “WS6” model that I had seen on their website. Upon arrival, I pulled up in front of the “Used” office and asked about the car. The guy standing outside had no idea what car I was talking about and told me to go to the Ebay department. He didn’t bother to tell me where that was or help me out, instead he walked back inside. Great customer service. Anyway, after walking around on the lot looking at different cars and having no one come out and help I walked inside and asked several different people before finally getting someone to show me the car.
The sales guy, Collin, wasn’t sure where the keys were and I stood there for several minutes while he looked for them. Eventually we find the car out back. As I was walking around, I was stunned to see cars ON THEIR LOT FOR SALE with flat tires, covered in filth, etc. at a factory Ford new car store.
We finally get to the Trans Am and the paint on the hood looked funky (the car had the Ram Air hood installed on it). Immediately, I’m suspicious that the car isn’t a real WS6 Ram Air car but instead a regular Trans Am with an aftermarket Ram Air hood added and decide check the RPO codes on the door. As it turns out, I was right. They were marketing the car on their website as a factory WS6 when it wasn’t at all. It was just a regular Trans Am. Keep in mind their asking price was what a WS6 car books for at full retail. That is blatant misrepresentation and someone who doesn’t know the cars as well or think to check the RPO codes could easily be duped. Additionally, the car had a massive hole, yes HOLE, in the dash, was filthy and the windows wouldn’t go back up after putting them down, even with Collin yanking on them.
Well I was already there so I decided to check out a Corvette they also had for sale. It was actually a pretty nice car but I couldn’t drive it because they were closing. The next day, my dad tried to give the used car manager a call to ask about the Corvette. He got someone on the line that spoke little English and told him to go to “Ebay” before practically hanging up on him. Confused, he called back and got a different person who had no idea about the car and even thought he was trying to sell them a Corvette, not buy one of theirs! FINALLY, I gave him the # of the salesperson I had dealt with. My dad calls and his ringer at his work cell is some rap song (real professional) and he doesn’t pick up. Eventually my dad is able to get ahold of him and is assured that he will get a call back. A couple hours roll by and we receive no call back, so I just drive over there after work.
I arrive at the dealership and Collin is sitting there in the showroom munching on McDonalds in front of me while he looks for the keys. Again, real professional. I take the car out for a test drive and make a realistic offer (they had the car advertised for $3k over full retail book). He takes some pictures of my trade in and I am told that we should “definitely” be able to work out a deal and that he would call me tomorrow.
Here we are, 4 days later, no phone call, not even a counter offer. NOTHING. Who knew buying a car could be so damn hard? I can’t believe this place is a franchised Ford dealer and I’m positive that if Ford knew how they conducted business that they wouldn’t be pleased in the slightest. Shady…
Worst car experience EVER. I wish I had seen this site first. I trusted the dealership because it carries the FORD name. I trusted the dealership because of the high rating eBay. I SHOULD have checked the BBB because I would have seen the 22 complaints filed in a 3 year period.
We purchased a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. Drove it 800 miles home to Florida. Took it in the minute we got home to see why the AC was blowing warm air. It was because the AC was bypassed, had no belt and we discovered crushed cross member hidden behind plastic. Took the vehicle to two collision experts, we have a bent frame! It would cost over $6200 to repair the vehicle, we paid 6K for. Chris promised to return our money and retrieve the vehicle. I’m not holding my breath. I have begun filing complaints with EVERYONE. I will be creating a petition to ask Ford to revoke their licence as a Ford dealership. This is the worst dealership ever.
Sometimes when you’re looking for the “right place” to buy a car you run across the “wrong place”. Kip Killmon’s Tysons Ford in Vienna, VA is a fine example of the “wrong place”.
I totaled my car earlier in the month. I have a limited amount of time left on my car rental before it runs out. I am motivated to select a suitable car very soon or I will find myself walking.
Collin promised me twice that he would shoot some photos of the underneath side of this used car and send me the photos via email. He didn’t.
I’ve left no less than 3 messages for the sales manager “Chris”. Haven’t heard a peep out of him and I need to finalize a car purchase soon. You’d think I’d be the kind of guy that they’d want to deal with. You’d be wrong.
After finding what seems to be the perfect car on Ebay I cannot get Tysons Ford in VA to even take a few photos of the underside of it so I can see what the rust situation is. I cannot get the sales manager to call me back. This is not good. I’m ready to buy and they won’t cooperate with me on two very minor things I have asked of them.
My advice: Go somewhere where they want your money bad enough to actually TALK to you for a few minutes.
I wanted to buy 2012 Ford Boss Laguna, walked in, some sales guy who never introduced himself, short, ugly, said we could do a test drive and walked me through the lot, suddenly stating that if I didn’t order the car today then he would not let me do a test drive because he is too busy (he had no one waiting for him or calling him). I said, OK, whatever. This is after we bailed them out. My suggestion, don’t waste your time going there.
Terrible after sales experience.
After they get your money you will mean nothing to them.
I am really pleased with services that I,ve got from Allen the used car mananger at tysons ford. He had went beyond the customer expectation and had find me the car that I was looking for several months. I have seen a lot of bad complaints on their website. However , you should not make every person accountable at that dealership. I am very happy with my 2006 Ford Escape and I will for sure recomend Allen and his sales staff to my friends and family.

Saw a 2002 Mustang I liked on ebay of all places. Called the dealership and spoke with a salesperson, who knew nothing about it. He transferred me directly to Chris, the manager, who answered all my questions about the car. I came in, dealt with him directly, test drove and purchased. I was in and out in less than an hour. Good transaction and I love my new GT!!
I live in Arkansas and bought 2 Jeep Cherokees from these crooks. I explained I would be driving them back and was assured they would make the trip just fine. After arriving we tried to get a sales person to help. During this time they closed, so had to rent a motel room and try again the next day. One of the Jeeps was visiable but would not start, I was told to “go find” the other one. When I found it it had a flat tire which was just aired up, and the engine when it would stay on sounded like death so I declined. I was driving a 2004 CTS and knew if anything happened to the one I would take (which, after what I saw was not probably going to happen) I could not even tow it to Arkansas. They had a 2002 Lincoln Blackwood truck with a tow package so I traded my CTS on it and a good thing. After completing the transactions were given 2 vouchers for gas and told that we need to go right then next door before they closed to use them, and did as we were told. When I returned 5 minutes later and told Chris I needed to remove my personal items (perscription glasses, all my CD’s, papers in the glove box and jewelry) I was told the car had already been taken to the service dep. and they had closed for the day the he (Chris) would forward the items to me via post. I only got maybe 15 miles from the dealership when the exaust system actually fell off the lincoln Blackwood damaging the drive shaft. I went back to the dealership and they were all gone. I got as far as the VA line when the Jeep I did buy blew up. Here I was handicapped in a strange town at night and had to find a car hauler to get the vehicle back to Arkansas.. So upon making it back to Arkansas I called and after repeated calls was finely allowed to talk with CHRIS. He called me a liar stating that he had never heard of anything like this and it would take the recipts and proof before believing me. I also asked him at that time when I could expect to recieve my personal belongings from the CTS and was told everything in my car had been thrown away the day I traded. Again CHRIS lying. The Jeep required 4 new tires, replacement of the cracked windshield, a new exaust system, a new blower moter for the AC and new hoses for the powerstearing that still isnt working properly. The Lincoln had to have both front upper ball joints and arms replaced, busted, the inside of the tires were so worn they all had to be replaced, along with the new exaust system, the tire undercarrage had been cut off and had to be replaced, and Ultimate Lincoln in Mt. Home advised me to get rid of the truck because very expensive repair costs need to be done, even after spending $4000 on the Lincoln alone just to make it driveable. When I went to trade it in I called Chris to inquire as to where my title was, and was told that I hadnt forwarded the title to the CTS to him. It was in the glove box the contents I had been told had been thrown away. The place I was trading the truck in contacted Tyson and spoke as did I with Chris. All they needed was a faxed copy of the title and he stated”I wouldnt lift a finger to help you.” So I cant even get rid of the POS. The whole situation was a very expensive nightmare and took all the fun out of buying my son his first vehicle. I will admit the blame lies with me. I thought dealing with a Ford dealership I would be dealing with staff that would be honest, ethical, and professional. I was wrong. CHRIS belongs in prision because he is nothing but a liar and professional criminal. He has my CTS listed as having a clear title after claiming he never got it from me. How can this be unless he forged my name on the title, or is lying in the advertisement. He also advertises it has a Bose system, which it does not. This dealership so far has cost me over $8000 for repairs that I was told did not exist prior to buying the vehicles. I have contacted my attorney and fully plan on taking them to court. Theft is theft. How e-bay can continue to use them to sell his junk and misrepresented automobiles makes me wonder about the standards of e-bay. I hope they enjoy my glasses, and jewlery, and CD’s. And he will either be charged with theft or forgery, or at the very least false advertising. STAY AWAY IT IS A DEN OF CROOKS THAT WILL DO ANYTHING to get rid of their JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TYSONFORD SUCKS NO ONE IN VIRGINIA BUY CARS FROM THOSE CROOKS DIRTY SALESMAN CRIS AND KIP THE GREAT DECEPTION. I HOPE ONE DAY THE WHOLE DEALER GET BURNED DOWN WITH ALL OF THEM INSIDE. THEY BUY BAD TRADE-INS THEY ARE SUPOSED TO TROW AWAY AND THEY WASH THEM AND POST THEM IN EBAY. FOR ANY STUPID TO BUY THEM..FUCK TYSONS FORD. THE BBB KNOWS AND THEY ARE NOT DOING SHIT WITH THIS DEALER.FORD A BIG FRANCHISE KNOW ABOUT THIS PEOPLE TOO. NEXT TIME BRING YOUR GUN LOADED AND SHOT THE SHIT OUT OF THIS CROOKS.

This is more than 100% believable story. I don’t know how this dealership specially the Chris keep doing this dirty business in ebay. One point is he seems to know all ebay tricks to beat the poor buyers. I have a story even worse than this. I LOST MONEY OWING BIG FRUSTRATION IN A GOOD MOVEMENT OF MY LIFE. To make it short PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS DISHONEST PLACE AND THE GUY. What they describe is exact opposite and lies. If all innocent victims get together I will join the line just to save future victims.
I bought a used car with 70,000 miles on it. They gave me a 1000 mile, 30 day warranty. The car had a massive oil leak. I brought it back for servicing, within the time/milage limit. They refused to honor the warranty (they were supposed to pay half) AND they charged me over $100 for the diagnostic (which just confirmed what I had told them) Cost me $700 to fix (elsewhere)
EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS A LIE COST ME 3500.00 TO FIX CAR THAT THEY SAID NEEDED NOTHING ,THEN THEY WOULD NOT TALK TO ME, ALSO HAD MY NEGITIVE REMOVED BY EBAY BY LYING TO THEM AS WELL
review ratings are not as i submitted them
bought a car with alot of problems because dealer was a big liar do not buy without looking over vechile first ,i bought over internet and it cost me 3500.00 dollars to fix car do not trust:devil(
On January 28 2010 I purchased a 2003 Ford Superduty. I have a we owe slip for a Headlight switch. Ive called many times said the part was ordered. As of today I have not gotten the switch. March 20 2010.
first of all chris the ebay sales person is a sorry exscuse and has no tallent when it comes to customer service.. Mike the new car sales is way sarcastic and really needs training on customerservice basics.. Mike your stuck up attitude is costing you money.. If i were your boss I wouldnt even have you as the window washer..I wouldnt buy a car from you if you were the last place on earh// you guys stink..
Caesar did a fantastic job helping my oldest son buy his first car. He was diligent about recommending the right type of vehicle within his price range. This can be a scary proposition for a 23 year old who is taking on debt for the first time, but Caesar made it easy. I have two other sons graduating from college in a couple of years and I will not think twice about having them go to Tysons Ford.
I purchased a 1992 Mercedes 190 E 2.3L from this Dealer through EBay. The listing specifically represented the car to be in excellent condition. It arrived with a blown headgasket, warped head, pluged radiator, dysfunctional heater core that had been bypassed to hide its condition, rusted exhausted system, badly dented bumper, missing bumper trim, requiring a valve job, and this is just the preliminary analysis. They initially told me to have it fixed and send them the bill and they would handle it. When I did they completely denied anything was wrong with the car. This delay pushed the time line for an EBay solution past the point of receiving assistance. I am in the process of filing Consumer Fraud Complaints with the proper authorities.
same problem i had with a jag totally lied about car these people are skum bags and then got my negative removed from ebay buy
I purchased a vehicle from Chris Mensel at Tysons Ford via Ebay. Chris grossly misrepresented the condition of the vehicle. I found tires worn to threads, turn signals and fog lights missing, airbag light on, seatbelt wont retract, coolant leaking from engine, exhaust leak, fraudulent state safety inspection sticker, body damage and rust, oil leaks, and suspension tie rod worn among other things.
No response from Chris, his manager, or their president Kip.
