Research what you are buying carefully. Don’t let the salesperson lead you to purchase a car that will be more expensive than comparable cars. Don’t let the salesperson wear you down by constant “let me check with my manager” bullshit. If you are not getting the price you imagined paying, simply walkout. They will treat you like they are doing you a favor for test driving their car. Don’t forget this … they should actually want you to test drive the car and they should actually be paying you. You need to believe this. That’s the only way you can prevent them from acting like they are doing you favor. Leave the test drive to the end. First get the price you want to pay. In the process of getting the price you want, you need to leave your significant other at home so that you can play the same game they play with you. This way you will get to say that your ‘manager’ (husband or wife) does not like the price or does not like your choice. You have to walk out if you are not getting a good deal.
If you have your significant other with you and you have test driven the car it is impossible to to get a good deal. They won’t give you any additional discount because they have already made the sale.
Definitely take your time with the test drive because you will be overlooking some very important details if it’s the usual short test drive while the salesperson can take your attention away from your task at hand.
I leased a car from this dealership in 2007. I than purchased this car off the lease from the same dealer in 2010. Their sales team is what you would expect of a car dealership, no better, no worse. The service department on the other hand is a mess of laziness and disorganization. I have had nothing put poor experiences with them even when dealing directly with the service manage.
Typical situations are, problem not corrected even after I pick the car up, extended waiting times for everything from simple oil changes to wheel alignments, inability to keep a reservation (on multiple occasions I have made an appointment weeks in advance only to have them not hold a loaner car or not even have it written down).
Save yourself the trouble, go to Paul Miller Honda, the extra drive is worth it.
