The actual getting of the car was a normal process. I got a 2011 A4. It’s after I got the car that they screwed me over. I took my car in to get a wheel bearing fixed which was covered under warranty. Then they told me I had to change two wheels because they were worn out, even though I had only put 29,000 miles on the car. Both wheels cost a total of 400, but being gullible I said okay. When I went to pay apparently they also did a 200 dollar wheel alignment. When I confronted them about it, they swore they told me and that I have to pay. Never go to this dealer. They will lie to cheat you at any chance they get.
I purchased my car from jack daniels. Sales people were nice. But service folks are not friendly and incompetent. Customer waiting area is very lacking. I don’t recommend.
If was 4:30pm I decided to go into the dealership for a book for Sorrento Kia. I spent 15 minutes in the showroom & no one ever approached me. I went to the desk to ask the young lady for a book she told me they were out of them. I asked her when does she expect the books to come in & she told me she didn’t know. I countiune to look at the cars & almost feel because I didn’t know the car was park on a little slope. I would never go back in there and I had a $10,000 check for a deposit on a Sorrento. I don’t shop where I don’t get respected.
My family loves our new Audi Q7! All of the extra room is very nice to have when you have a big family. I thought that making the jump from a sedan to a Q7 would be rough, but the handling is actually better in the Q7 than in my Nissan. Thanks Jack Daniels!
It was almost impossible to find a 2011 A6 in the color and trim that I desired, but Joe Arvatz at Jack Daniels Audi was able to pull through for me. Joe was extremely helpful throughout the whole process, as was the rest of the staff at Jack Daniels. I knew that I would have to wait for my ideal car to be located, but didn’t know they would be working dilligently on getting the car I wanted. I have very specific tastes, and if I’m buying something as expensive as a new vehicle I want it to be a certain way. Many thanks to Joe Arvatz and the rest of the staff at Jack Daniels for accomidating me.
This dealer is so unproffessional, unorganized, and I will never go back to them!!! After mistakes on their part the supervisor even refused to come out and speak to me. Every one makes mistakes the least you can do is handle it with proffesionalim. I will never get my car serviced at Jack Daniels in Fairlawn AGAIN!!!!
I purchased a Certified Used A4 from JD Motors. I live 4.5 hours from the dealership (out of state), so it is a pain to drive up there. I have had the following issues with the car:
License plates: The process was very slow (I drove on expired tags for 4 weeks before receiving mine), but it was a transfer and out of state. Like others, I called them daily and was repeatedly told that they would arrive any day.
Service Records: They could not produce the service records at the dealership. I was told that they would send me the records later. Lets just say that I called a lot trying to get them to send them to me. Eventually, I had a local Audi dealership look up the records and found that someone had registered doing the 45k maintenance at 23k, skipping the 25k and 35k maintenance. That meant that I essentially had no remaining free maintenance on the car.
Radio Code: Even though the car was “Certified Used”, the radio code was missing form the documentation. During the sales pitch, I was told that because their service department was closed, I should take it to any Audi dealership, and they would give me the code. I took it into a local dealership and was told that it was a $100 charge to pull the radio and get the code. I called JD Audi back and was told that I could pull the radio and give them the numbers to get the unlock code. I bought the removal tools and got the numbers…and was then told (by Audi USA) that nobody can do that any more – you have to actually bring the radio in!
The windscreen looked fine when I bought it, but after the first rain storm, a scratch appeared and I noticed that it was “wavy” around the scratch. A local Audi dealership said that they thought someone had tried to buff out a scratch.
Front end vibrations: When test driving the car, I noticed a front-end shimmy and pointed it out to the salesman. I was told that it was probably just alignment and that I should take it to any Audi dealership where they would correct it. It turned out that they had put 5 warped (out of round and/or out of plane) rims on the car. That’s 5 because after I had a local shop spin balance the spare, I found that even that was warped!
I placed over 40 Calls to dealership trying to get these issues resolved. Marion (the salesman I worked with) was good and at least seemed like he was trying to get something done. Unfortunately, Frank Gebbia (Certified Used Sales Manager) was the one who I had to deal with most of the time. Frank seems to spend all of his time traveling between sites, so even if you call both of their locations, you will never actually talk to Frank. The only times I was able to get in touch with him was when Audi USA called him on my behalf.
After 5 weeks, the license plates did come in, so that was taken care of.
I worked with Audi USA, and they were able to correct the service records.
After the 40 calls and over 3 months, I cornered Frank Gebbia (sent pictures of the rims and windshield as well as copies of reports from other Audi service centers) and he agreed to take care of the radio code, replace the windshield, and replace all 5 rims.
Even after the replacement of the rims (I watched the spin-balancing of the rims, but didn’t check the rims themselves), one of them still has a big dent (3″) at the road edge of the rim.
While I assume that the rest of the dealership runs better than this, I would recommend that anyone go somewhere else for a Certified Used Audi. In general, their service group seemed very good. It is possible that the rim was dented somewhere between Fair Lawn NJ and home, but considering the rest of my experience, I think it’s likely that it was bent when it was put on.
10/20/09 Update: The car still had some shake in it so I took it to the local Audi dealership for service (Tyson’s Corner). They didn’t charge me a dime for the service, but explained that the car still had 3 warped rims, and that was causing the shake.
After more calls to Audi USA (who are being much less helpful now), I was told that I have to drive the car back to NJ so they can take a test drive. Not even a “if you bring it here, we’ll fix it.” They just want me to drive 9 hours so they can take my car for a test drive. Pretty amazing.
We were interested in a car advertised on cars.com and their own website. It was advertised as certified pre-owned. It was priced well below comparable cars so it grabbed our attention. We were only looking at and interested in certified cars. We took the car out for a test drive with salesman John from Fairlawn. We talked about leaving a deposit with his manager but could not agree on a price and we asked him to get back to us the following day at closing. When we talked to Avery at the Saddle River dealership inquiring about a similar car but at a much higher price, he told us that the Fairlawn car was at the lower car because it was not certified. We had a conversation with the manager in Fairlawn where he said he was lowering the price to sell quickly so he would not have to re-certify it and because it had been on the lot too long but he was selling to us as a certified car. Avery from the sister dealership is trying to assure us this car was not certified and that the web sites reflect false advertising. Cars.com advertisement, note certified.

My husband and I purchased a car from them in June 2008. At that time we were issued temporary tags until they sent us our permanent tags.
It’s been 3 weeks since our temporary tags expired and we have still not received our permanent tags. Noone will return our phone calls and when they do it’s only to tell us lies. They tell us that we will recieve our tags the next day. But they never come.
Please, please, please, DO NOT buy a car from them. That is unless you enjoy spending tens of thousands of dollars on a car and not being able to legally drive it.
