February 1 2013 (This is a long one)
Everything actually went well when i bought my black 2013 Mustang GT from Honolulu Ford. When i purchased the car it had rained a little and the sun was going down. i did all the paper work and finally took it home. The next day at work the sun came out and my co worker looked at my car, he said theres a bubble on your hood. there was a paint dripping on the hood that looked like a cyst, it was under the clear coat, but there were scratches under the paint dripping which was weird.
the next day i washed the car to inspect it a little better and noticed their was a lot of polish left on the car under the hood and in the trunk. After the wash i also noticed two more bumps in the paint on the two rear fenders (this shows you how well the detail guys do their jobs). i had called them and told them about it and they said to bring it in tomorrow they wanted to take a look at i,t so i said ok i’ll bring it in tomorrow. Ford took a look at it and said ok were going to get it fixed since it seemed to be a factory error.
The next week i brought the car in and it was sent to the paint shop (till this day i still don’t know where they are sending the car). The car was done in about a two weeks or so and they gave me a call when it was ready, again when i got there the sun was almost gone, so they told me it looks good now and i said fine and took the car home.
The next day i brought the car back and told them you gotta look at the car. the salesperson came out looked at it and i know he knew the service guys messed up when they took it to whoever they take it to, to paint. the paint shop burnt my paint completely.Outside in the sun the paint looked like i was in the middle of polishing the car, when the sun is not out you dont see the swirls, but when the sun hits the car the three areas they repainted (the hood, and the rear left and right fenders) almost looked white in color.(i have pictures and videos on my phone, in case i need to take this to court)
Its been about 1 week and i took the car back in to be redone. The car stayed on the lot for a few days ( i noticed it stayed on the lot cause i passed by the dealership a couple days later). the car finally went back to the paint shop a few days after i was told it was going to the shop) for a buffing. Three days later i get a call and went down looked at the car and said it still looked like crap (again it was getting dark) and i refused to take it off the lot. so it was sent back again.(the car still Gritty).
The car came back again two or three days later and i said it still looks like crap and the sales manager Mickey didn’t believe me until he finally came out to look at the car, he raised his voice a little at the service guy and told him to get it fixed, He told me this time it will be fixed. came back about a week later. I came back to ford and they all said it looks good now. as i walked towards the car to look at it, i noticed its in the garage in the shade. The swirls cant be seen in the shade so i moved the car out into the sun, soon as i looked at the fender and i said its still there even my sales person said yeah he sees it. (the car does look way better than it did but its still has swirls everywhere just cleaned up a little, trust me its damn ugly).
We go back in to talk to the sales manager and he approved of a buffing after 30 days, as the paint is fresh or clear coat is fresh, i don’t think they repainted it just threw tons of clear over it. so i now know that there is no way it can be fixed by these guys i m gonna let them try and fix it again, they say their gonna buff it but i know it wont make it better only worse
I would have to say its been about 34 days and no call from Ford so on Saturday January 26 i show up at Ford and my sales person is out sick, ok whatever go to the sales manager Mickey tell him to look at my car, but he was busy doing something so i said fine. I waited about twenty minutes then he tells me to go look at the car. He sends someone else out to look at it with me who has no idea what the cars been going through and this guy tells me “oh yeah we can get the swirls out and make it look a lot better, “we have a special formula that can get that out of the clear” or something like that he says. I dont know why that guy came out to look because im being told by the sales manager Mickey its going to be buffed by the same shop that did the paint, the other guy? said i’ll make sure my guys use that formula. hows that possible when Ford is not the guys touching the paint.
It is now February 1 2013 and not only are the swirls still there, theres another bump on the hood in a different location and another one on the passenger rear fender in a different location. I am still waiting to get that buffing done, i should know by next week wednesday but buffing wont get the two bumps out of the paint. This car should have been replaced already it now has 1250 miles on it . LEMON!
Honolulu Ford had the car for over 3 weeks possibly a month in total. i had made my first car payment $582.26 and was driving a fusion as a loaner and $262.00 twice for my insurance on the Mustang and wasn’t even driving it, Ford Had it. My insurance is $1033.00 every six months, I am only twenty four years old. What make;s this worse is i put down $7,500.00 on my down payment. I make under thirty thousand dollars a year and work two jobs though i love muscle cars which are expensive now days. too add on to my monthly payments i pay $300 a month for my 1971 camaro.
If you are looking for a new or preowned car do not go too Honolulu Ford . I hear complaints from them as well. If your looking for a Ford do not go to Honolulu Ford, the people are nice until they make the sale u cant win when something is wrong with the car and the service guys are a bunch off crooks. This paint problem is still not over for me and i think it wont be until its settled in court. I AM PISSED!!!
Manager was rude. Tried to low ball me on my trade in. Said he wasnt going to be able to sell my car here so thats why it was low. I said I know he could sell my car and he retorted with “Excuse me?! Are you going to tell me how to do my job?!” Not a way to treat costumers. They wanted to pressure me to agree to buy and when I was hesitant their patients wore thin very quickly. Will never buy a car there. No costumer care.
Does anyone know that when you buy the GAP insurance from Honolulu Ford you can get your money back or when you pay off your car early your GAP insurance no longer applies to your new car? Well they don’t tell you that when buying your car. I found out later from Cutter Ford. When I went back to get the money they said it was too late. I said you if I got in an accident that was a total they probably would not cover it since I paid it off. So I did not GO BACK to Honolulu Ford. They also have Crappy Service for the Cars. They tell you a appointment time then you wait. I had seen them taking my car 45 minutes later. They are BAD all around (Service and Crooked – trying to get all your Money).
Sorry, didn’t post my issue when I initially did the review
Basically, Honolulu Ford has had my vehicle for 34 days now. Virtually no repairs have been made, and I am being lied to, ignored, and frankly am just sick of the whole mess.
I created a website to document what they have done.
http://www.honolulufordsucks.com
enjoy
I made a service appt. 3 days prior to have recall work done and was told that the part(s) to complete the repair were in stock and that I would be able to wait while repairs were done, appox. 1 1/2 hours.
Showed up on the appointment day and had the vehicle written up, I informed the service advisor that I would wait for the vehicle
Eighty minutes later I am told that the part needed to complete the recall is, in fact, not in stock and that I would need to reschedule another appt.
I questioned the advisor as to why the part(s) were not placed on hold for my appt. her response was ” we don’t do that”
Does this dealership think that customers have nothing better to do with their time? Are they willing to reimburse me for lost pay?
Logic would dictate that if I were to take time off from my schedule that the very least the parts would be on hand for the appointed date?
Is it any wonder that with service reception like this that the American Auto Industry is in dire straits?
My next new vehicle will not be American manufactured, certainly not a Ford !
