The battery in my 200 Ford Expedition had gone bad while it was parked at PHX airport. After getting a jump start from Airport Security I brought the Expedition in to Five Star Ford which is very close to my office on Scottsdale Rd. The whole experience exceeded my expectations from a customer service perspective. The Service Advisor was courteous and explained my options. The fee for the new battery was reasonable and when I got my Expedition back, it had been washed and vacuumed, which was definitely more than I expected. The battery has given me no problems in the month since I got my Expedition serviced at Five Star Ford, and I would highly recommend their service department.
The dealers were very nice on the phone and had stated we were first in line to purchase the car we wanted (someone else was also interested). We were told the car was ours if we came the next morning and that no deposits were necessary to solidify the deal. After hours of phone tag the following day, we come to find the car was sold out from under us to another person who called in with a deposit. We were told point blank a deposit (which we were willing to give) was not needed. They are untrustworthy and immoral. I highly discourage purchasing from this dealer.
I’ve tried to use Five Star Ford twice for routine maintenance, the first time(3/18/09) for an oil change which took almost three hours to complete. I patiently waited and watched the lube tech pull my pickup in and out of the same bay three times during the oil change process before finally getting whatever he was trying to achieve accomplished. I asked the so called “manager” Ben Levine if everything was ok? He assured me everthing was fine and it would not be much longer. I finally got my truck back as I was getting to the end of my patients.
I came back (5/18/09) this time calling first trying to avoid the headaches I had experienced during the previous visit. Ben Levine answered the phone and I explained I needed an oil and fuel filter change and asked how the wait was looking, he explained that two cars were in front of me, but could have my pickup in a bay in about 30-45 min, and then 30-45 min. to complete my service. I said great! I’m on my way. I just live about 1/2 mile from the dealership. So I drop the pickup off and walk home. 2 1/2 hours later still no phone call from Five Star. I call and been tells me he needs more time to cut the rotors??? I said what are you taking about all I needed was an oil change, after a long pause and then being put on hold, Ben picks up and say’s yours is the next one in. I said are F’ING JOKING!!! I told Ben don’t touch my truck, I’m coming to get it. When I showed up he offered no apoligy, didn’t even say a word to me. Just tossed my keys on the counter. I asked who he reported too, he gave me Michael Anselmo’s name who I later spoke with on the phone. Mike also offered no apology’s or tried to correct the situation in any way. Bassically I left feeling like I was a burden by bringing my business to them and expecting a little customer service or a least on time performance. Be wise and steer clear of Five Star Ford’s Service Dept.
Mike Anselmo and Ben Levine just lost my business, hopefully this post will help in your decision of who you choose to do business with, as Five Star believes they are your only option.
