El cajon ford is garbage and still owes me $3000 for a deal that I was lied to about. They will tell you anything you want to hear to sell a car! Beware of this dealership. There other places to buy from and I highly recommend you take your business somewhere else!

I went to get my car fixed by them because I knew I had to go to the dearlership for someone else had already diagnosed my problem — one of my GEM modules had a problem and would no longer work the locks on my car nor would it properly set the alarm. They told me that on top of the GEM module replacement I needed to have the trunk latch replaced. This seemed dubious to me because all of the doors and the trunk stopped working at the same time and the latch worked fine with the key, but I said okay, replace it. After having my car for several days they call me up Friday afternoon to tell me it’s fixed.
I drive away to my next appointment only to find out it is NOT fixed. This time the front passenger side door won’t unlock with the remote, but it does lock with the remote. I call them up right away and say: hey you said this was fixed. It’s not. They say bring it in on Monday. I do so. They want to charge me an additional nearly $300 bucks for something that should have been fixed the first time around. I tell them no way. I drive home. I get more angry about it and call the service manager.
The service manager has Juan call me back and say bring it in and we’ll eat the labor cost, but you have to pay for the part. I say no. I’ll pay you the remainder of what you told me the initial cost would be and not any more than that. Juan says, bring it in and we’ll work something out. I say okay but I’m telling you how much I have left and I’m not paying any more than that.
I told him I’d be telling everyone what happened here and to never go to this place — EVER. Try Drew. Mossy also stinks.
I bring it in. He has a conversation with the service manager who (I’m listening to tell him to charge me for the part). We could have done this over the phone and not inconvenienced me a THIRD time. I said no last time they made that offer and did they think that by bringing me in that I’d go for it this time around?!
I completely agree! El cajon ford is garbage and is the biggest rip off. I will never buy another car from them. They owe me $3000 from a bad deal on my last car I bought from them!!!

Years later door still broke.
I’m far too Livid to get into detail, here — but These Guys are Vile Scum-of-the earth and should be shut down forthwith.
Without question, there day will come.
El Cajon Ford lied too me when I purchased my 2005 Ford Mustang. When I questioned El Cajon Ford about any previous accidents I was specifically told the 2005 Mustang was in one “MINOR” accident and that is all. At no time was the truth told to me about this vehicle that it was in a horrible accident and should have a salvaged title! The frame was bent and the whole front end of the car had to be replaced! Also you cannot properly put gas in the car without holding the fuel nozzle upside down because of a defect with the fuel system. This allowing fuel to run down the side of the car constantly while trying to re-fuel the car (which when I notified El Cajon Ford about this when I returned the car I was told by management that this is how all the new model Mustangs are built and that this is not a default in the vehicle, funny because I do not see other Mustang owners standing at the gas station with the nozzle upside down and fuel running down the side of their car like I was). Also the A/C turns on and off by itself and that on occasion the seatbelt alarm beeps even when the seatbelt is engaged or that two weeks after purchasing the car the complete electrical system had to be replaced because the car was completely dead. Bottom line this car is a lemon. When I purchased the vehicle from El Cajon Ford I was given the greatest sales pitch about all these safety tests and inspections that their used cars go through before they are put on the lot for resale. Now I completely understand that was just a sales pitch because this vehicle had obviously not been through ONE SINGLE inspection or test. By law I am entitled to a full refund of the purchase price, taxes, license, maintenance and all legal fees associated with this case. I have no problem letting my attorney proceed with this and getting more money than I was asking for and letting El Cajon Ford waste money and time on attorney fees. See you in court El Cajon Ford!
El cajon ford SUCKS, they performed work on my vehicle that it did not need. I took my vehicle in for a problem that they could not figure out. I spent approximately five hundred dollars on tows and on un needed repairs. I finally got my own mechanic and he figured out the problem. I then took the vehicle and informed Christine Brandon of El Cajon ford of my mechanics finding. It was the fuel pump that el cajon ford had replaced just five months earlier. I will NEVER but another vehicle or have any services done by these crooks!!!
I purchased an EC Ford “certified used auto” in October of 2011. What a joke. BEWARE! Before the sale we were treated like potential adoptees, but after the sale when the car started having problems, I could not get a call returned by the salesman. Soon after, my tranny literally exploded. I’m glad I purchased an extended service contract.I had my car towed in to EC Ford on a Thursday and was told on the following Tuesday that it hadn’t been checked yet for warranty approval. It took almost 2 weeks to repair. The service advisor was discourteous to the max. Just 2 weeks later, the tranny failed. I called the service dept. and told them, and that same service advisor,
and they said to get it in there and they would see if my warranty would cover it.?????!!! Duh, you think?
I had my car towed to Kearny Mesa Pearson Ford. They were great and had my car out in 2 days with a rebuilt and warrantied transmission. When I picked my car up I was told that the previous job had been prettly sloppy. And now, I recently became stranded in Los Angeles last Saturday night because my batterly had gone completely dead. The battery on that car is completely enclosed in a plastic box, When AAA came out and removed the box, we discovered white acid debris all over the battery and the water holes were bone dry. The funny part is that the junk yard forget to take their tag off the battery! Certified used car indeed! I called Frank at the used car department and asked for an adjustment. He said he would speak to his boss and get back to me. He seems to have a historical problem dialing my number. He didn’t call back. Hours later I called him and his boss said “no way”.
Well, no way will I ever do any biz with these guys again. No way will I ever recommend this outfit to anyone I like or don’t like. No way will I trust Tony Gwynn again. I will however make it my business to warn anyone I encounter that is looking for a car to look elsewhere until some of these people can learn some manners.
My Daughter went to El Cajon Ford on her own to purchase a vehicle. Due to her age, and her lack of knowledge concerning common scams used by Dealerships that are not reputable…….she was grossly taken advantage of (ie: interst rate, selling price, down payment,etc.). After two weeks of her having the car, she was contacted and told that they could not get financing. She was threatened by them. She was told that if she did not bring the car back in by 8pm that evening with a co-signer (or additional funds), the car would be reported stolen and she would be arrested. They have told her that the contract was cancelled, despite the fact that they exceeded the 10 day period to do so. The interesting thing is that their contract has a clause which states they can notify you within that time frame in writing or in any other manner. This allows them to state they contacted you within the 10 day period, but does not require them to use a method which offers proof that they actually did so. Now, they have told her that she will need to bring in an additional $4k towards her down payment, and by doing that they are willing to write a new contract (since…..as they stated…….the original contract was cancelled). I have heard of scams like this, but never knew anyone personally who was a victim. By the way, her trade in is no longer available to be returned to her.
Keep this in mind if you ever consider purchasing a vehicle from this Dealership.
Wow! But I’m not surprised!!! I don’t know how el cajon ford stays in business and I really can’t believe Tony Gwynn backs this place!!! I guess it’s easy to get an icon to sponsor your dealership when you give him free cars. I hope you got a lawyer!!!
