I offered the trade-in of two vehicles, 1500.oo..
The target vehicle was a 1998 ford mustang gt convertible.. asking price was $8995.oo.. The 1500.oo for the two vehicles took the ‘loan’ to 7917.oo. They also asked for another $1500.oo to go toward the down payment (in addition to the two traded in trucks).. I didn’t have it, so they had me write out 3 checks for $500.oo each.. totaling $1500.oo .. So the total down for the vehicle was $3000.oo . so, now the sale price of the vehicle is 7917.00 + 3000.00 for down payments.. total 11,917.oo for the loan. The Vehicle’s sale price was $8995.oo.. The loan was for $7917.oo .. So where did my $3000.oo down payment go?
I received a phone call the following monday (5 days later) from the dealership, telling me that the bank was going to call, and it was very very important NOT to tell the bank, that the dealer loaned me (on the side) $1500.oo toward the down payment..
*First RED FLAG.. I complied, against my better judgement because I felt that I couldn’t get the loan at all unless I gave them the checks.
*Second RED FLAG.. The dealership promised my first payment would be due in October 2011, then the BANK called me back with the acct number and said there would be no monthly statement, and told me my first payment was due in Sept 2011.
I am a disabled American Veteran.. I personally feel, this dealer took advantage of that, and convinced me this was a good deal.. This is MY mistake, granted, I should have known better.. but now I have to make a rash choice.. Medication, or car payment.. Now I have no vehicles, and lost all my money.
