These people must have vibrant imaginations. I sent a web based request for a quote on a new Sedona in December 2009 to all Indianapolis Kia dealers. Instead of responding with a quote, Skillman westside simply said they would would “beat any other offer by hundreds or pay my first payment”. Sounds pretty good. So, I travelled dozens of extra miles to their dealership and was passed around through three different people (two managers and a newby associate). Of course this was after I left alone for 15 minutes. They then proceded to show me a car other than one I was interested in and then they appraised my trade. Their price was hundreds and hundreds more than a competitor’s quote I did receive through the web from another Indy dealer. They actually stated this other dealer routinely lied to customers just to get them in. In fact, they said there was no way they or any other dealer could come close to that price. Well, I went to the other dealer and got a firm quote, including the value of my trade. I Emailed this to Skillman and quess what? Yep, they still said the other dealer was untruthful.
Did they fullfill their unsolicited offer to pay my first payment? Absolutely not. I asked the local BBB for help. They tried, but Skillman eventually stated that they did in fact match the other dealer’s offer. I hope they have vibrant imaginations, otherwise they are simply liars.
I did buy a new Sedona from the other dealer. Funny thing, they didn’t have the one I wanted in stock, so they went to another dealer to get one. Which dealer? Well, Skillman, of course. Too bad. It is companies like this that give all dealers a bad name.
On April 25, 2015 while returning home my 2011 Hyundai Tucson with barely 61,400 miles shifted really hard and then would not accelerate (RPM’s go really high but the car barely moved). I had to go out of the country for a week so my mother and grandparents would see what they could do. Car was towed to the dealership we bought it, Ray Skillman Hyundai at the Auto Mall. They found that a hose had broken, draining my transmission fluid. This was not covered under warranty. My grandparents paid 333.16 and proceeded home. Within 30 minutes of being on the road the car broke down. My grandparents had to wait for over an hour for a tow. The conclusion of this problem equaled a new transmission covered by my 10 year 100,000 mile warranty.
I feel that the initial fix done by Ray Skillman was not the true problem and this resulted in the loss of my original transmission. No one seems to care that my car stranded my grandparents on the side of the road. CARLA LOYD at your dealership is a poor representative for your company. I filled out a survey about my dissatisfaction with the 333.16 no fix. She called and upon speaking to me for the very first time did not care that this was such an inconvenience. I tried to explain to her that for the past 10 years my family and I have been very loyal customers of Ray Skillman. We have had AT LEAST 5 cars purchased brand new from your dealerships over the years. She then talked over me saying she had already been made well aware that we would take our business somewhere else. That doesn’t seem like a very good representation of your brand. Auto dealerships are a dime a dozen now a days and live off of referrals. Hendricks County has grown immensely over the past few years and us taking our business to Andy Mohr or Terry Lee seems like a great idea.
I need explained how fixing a hose and replacing fluid cost $205 in labor and $116.04 for a fix that only got my car 20 miles down the road. I understand this was not covered under warranty but after the fact knowing my whole transmission needing replace, causing a customer to be stranded in a car only having barely over 61,000 miles really worth 333.16?
