I have made extensive use of the dealers repair shop which I would grade as generally superior. I was disappointed in the experience in buying a used SUV. They hyped the car as being well cared for and practically brand new. They did a 50 point safety check on it and did replace the brakes; and that is all they did in terms of service. The vehicle still had the original tires (which looked pretty worn), original battery, and serpentine belt. I was comparing this SUV with a similar vehicle at another dealership with similar mileage. That dealer not only replaced the brakes, but also put new tires on it, did an oil change, changed the air filter, replaced the serpentine belt, put in a new battery, and flushed the radiator. When I brought this up intending to ask them to do the same to this vehicle, they really put the pressure on and tried to make me feel stupid and petty. They went as far as to say that the other dealer really did not do this service but just said they did. They also said that the car must have been in bad shape if it needed all that maintenance.
At that point I walked out on the deal. I felt that they were trying to squeeze every last nickel out of this car, and that if I did buy it I would be spending a lot of money on routine maintenance that should have been done by the dealer before he put the car up for sale.
I wound up buying an SUV from the other dealership, and I am very pleased with it.
