I don’t remenber the salesman’s name and never kept his card throwing it away on my way out. The salesman kept trying to get me to buy a used F350 Dually when I was looking for a 4X4 F250 4 door long bed.
The Hannah salesman came on like he knew all about pickups, but it did not take many questions to tell he knew very little. He asked me if I would be interested in the F350 if the price was right. I asked what the price was and was told it depended on my credit. Told him my credit was no problem.
We went inside and sat at a desk. He then wanted me to fill out a credit application. I told him no I just wanted the price. He wanted my parents names and two others for references (I am over 50) I told him he did not need references and to just give me the price.
He took a blank piece of paper wrote something on it and drew a line a few spaces under what he wrote.
He told me he would get me a price after I signed the paper.
I took it and read that he had written “I promise to buy this vehicle.” I looked at him a asked if he was kidding. I was not going to sign, that it was nuts and anyone signing something like that was crazy.
I told my wife come on lets go.
We went to Hillyer’s Mid-City Ford in Woodburn to look at a F250 4dr long bed 4X4 they had listed online. We were treated a one would expect. No pressure, and given fair value for my F250 Xtra-Cab trade in. And yes, we told them and since it happened many other people about the Dick Hannah experience.
I WOULD NEVER BUY FROM ANY DICK HANNAH DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF THIS UNDERHANDED SALESMAN…

After working on the phone/internet, Eric gave us the a price in writing via email. We agreed on the price of the car and and made an appointment to purchase the car. We drove from The Gorge to Portland.
When we arrived for the scheduled appt, there was no Eric. We received another salesman that knew nothing about what we had been working on. After working HOURS with Joe (manager) and Travis, they advised the offer we received was a mistake. What I though was a done deal before leaving home, was not a done deal. The thing that bothers me is I DID NOT COME UP WITH THE QUOTE ON THE CAR…. THEY DID and THEY PUT IT IN WRITING.
Purchased my car 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan from Dick Hannah Volkswagen. Worst mistake I have EVER made. From the start, they did a HORRIBLE job putting the clear cover protector on my hood (Durashield). It started peeling off almost immediately and wasn’t cut straight. After the THIRD time, driving from Eugene to Vancouver, WA. to the dealership, they did a decent job. After I washed my car the next day, I noticed a thin razor scratch where the previous Durashield was put on the hood. They said they would compensate me for my time and troubles by tinting my windows and putting on a tow hitch. When I came up to have the 6,000 mile service done, they somehow completely forgot about the agreement they made to me and gave me the runaround. I asked to speak to their manager, explained my situation (for the 5th time), and said he would look into it. By then, the service department was closed and I could not pick up my vehicle until the following day. I regret EVER stepping foot into that dealership. I don’t plan on even getting my vehicle serviced from them again. Buyer beware. Have further questions about my experience? Feel free to email me PERSONALLY at [email protected] and I can fill you in with more detail.
To the Dick Hannah Auto Group:
Your kid over at the Hyundai dealer, Ashley Gibson, did an EXCELLENT job. Especially since when I contacted her to see certain cars she had to run around for 20 minutes looking for the cars that were supposed to be there for me to see but some other sales staff had simply taken them or given her the WRONG information about what I was to see. One person literally just took the car to Vancouver. No one was looking at it but we had to go there to see it. So after test driving, the whole time Ashley was great and calm in the midst of obvious chaos, hours had elapsed. I needed to go and so Ashley and I filled out trade in paper work. I was already 30 minutes beyond what I had scheduled when the sales manager, Brandon, came out to do the hard sale. They were offering $1000 under what Kelley said for low ball price on my car and when I countered and said I would need to go and think it all over and shop around, Brandon got super pushy. Saying he wanted 5 more minutes. I told him I was overdue meeting a friend. His response: ” She must be some friend if she is worth losing money for five minutes of time.” I made my decision at that point. Any person who, after their sales staff has worked their tail off to sell a car and earn my trust and then act so foolishly by not #1 Acknowledging and honoring my time frame, and #2 Be so flippant about a friendship he knows NOTHING about… DECISION: LEAVE go now! If he is this distasteful in 5 minutes time how much more so will he be when I bring the car in for service or have concerns.
I told my friend what had happened. Her response: “Hope you flipped him off!” I did not but your company lost a customer and a potential one with the hard sale tactics and rudeness of a financing manager on top of it.
Lesson to learn? Hope that it will be a choice to let Ashley, even though she is newer, get a chance to earn customer business by having what she needs : i.e. the cars she needs when she needs them, and the support of managerial staff not to screw up all her hard work!
SHE IS A GREAT KID, and Ashley Gibson deserves to be able to work and close with customers in a respectful way or she will continue to lose sales and your manager will go on thinking that because he is in management, is handsome and pushy that he will get away with his antics of rudeness when things don’t go his way.
I left with a really bad taste in my mouth about driving from Salem to check you out. From this teacher, the company has some learning to do.
