My salesperson was great, but his sales manager (SM) was the kind of guy who gives car salesmen a bad name. When I first visited the dealership with the intention of buying a car that day, the SM was not willing to meet the price I wanted to pay, but offered to sell the car at $1,000 above that price. I wanted to look around more, so left. They encouraged me to come back and buy the car from them if I was not able to find a better price.
I called a week later and said I was willing to buy the car at that $1,000 higher price. I had found it elsewhere at the same price, but liked the salesman and preferred a dealer closer to my home so went back to them. After I test drove the car I indicated I was ready to purchase it for cash. When the sales manager came in, he now refused to sell it to me at that price. After the usual BS dancing around, during which he said he had never been “serious” about that price, he finally admitted that, even if he was willing to sell it at that price a week ago, he was no longer willing because he had less inventory.
I felt betrayed and angry, having now wasted half my Saturday for nothing. I would not recommend this dealership due to the sleazy behavior of the sales manager.
