Interesting…looks like the first reviewer had a similair experience, and what is happening in their financing department doesn’t seem legal. I bought a Jetta from Patrick Motors last year. NEVER AGAIN will I use that dealership. They gave me a slightly better price for the same vehicle than Coloniol VW in Westborough, and I liked the color of the car that Patrick VW had, so I went with them. This was the first time I financed a vehicle. After I was quoted cost, interest, etc, I went in the next day to sign all the paperwork. Everything was pushed at me very fast to sign, and I admittedly should have asked for the time to look things over before signing. When I returned to the office, I noticed a price difference on the loan than what was quoted – it was substantial. I called Bob the Manager who laughed at me. Total attitude change than when i was purchasing the car. Had to play phone tag with Andy (I believe that was the name) in finance. Was told that the extra charges were due to a few bad marks on my credit, and that Chase Bank charges extra to initiate a loan with those marks. Outright lied and said I had to pay a fee to get the financing. Luckily, I work with someone who previously worked in auto financing and she was furious that someone would lie this way. I had to call Chase Bank who said this was not true at all, and that the money I was seeing was actually what the dealership was calling the purchase price. Got in touch with Andy and Bob, relayed this info, and the story quickly changed to “oh, we don’t use Chase Auto very often, so got confused”. They offered to pay the difference directly to the loan. I said no way, and they then agreed to rewrite the loan paperwork. SUPER SKETCHY and extremely pushy. Again, my fault for signing the paperwork and trusting the dealership, but even when they were advised of the “error”….they did not correct it until basically forced.
On the upside, the car is nice, but will never, ever deal with Patrick again. In fact, recently a friend liked my car so much she wanted one and I told her to stay far, far away from this dealership. Live and learn…. 🙂
Bought a car there and when we get home and look closely at the paperwork and discover that the price was WAY higher than we had discussed. Called the salesaman (Pawil) and he puts me off to then finance guy who is defensive IMMEDIATELY. I explain there must be a mistake and he gets very rude-“YOU SAW THE PAPERS ETC…” and he hangs up on me when I get terse and start explaining there is a MISTAKE!
Finally get the “used car manager” to look it over and sure enough they had added some items twice on the paperwork, so no problem-we’ll write you a check. When I asked for a breakdown of ALL the charges so i could see what had actually happened they were very not very forthcoming-The guy tells me that he’ll e-mail it right over. That was three weeks ago and I’m still waiting. So he tells me over the phone what the charges are and what was “doubled” and the numbers still don’t add up. I tell him this and THAT was when he tells me about the $300 “doc fee” that had NEVER been discussed and they definitely did not tell me about. I tell him I did not recall seeing the papers signed that had the fee on it as I don’t have a copy, he tells me it was signed and I have no choice but to believe him as I’m still waiting for a copy of that as well. Even if it was signed I find it quite curious that that was the only paperwork we did not get a copy of. VERY DECEPTIVE!!! I now believe that this was all done on purpose (even the mistaken “doubling” hoping that we didn’t notice.
And that’s not all.
We were told by Pawil our salesman that the financing rate would be 6%. Direct quote-“the rate WILL be 6% if not lower.” Well sure enough we get home and look at the paperwork closely and the rate is 8.25%.
Shame on us for not looking closely at the paperwork-but we trusted them as they were very nice and friendly-that was up until the point that I drove the car away. All of this hassle of trying to figure out what happened took MANY days as they do NOT return calls. If I did not catch the person at their desk I quickly found out that they would NOT call back.
I waited to write this review until I had a chance to talk to the owner, thinking perhaps he didn’t know what his employees were up to. He does call me back after I have to call a different branch to ask for him as the Auburn store wasn’t even answering their phone (caller ID?).
I explained the situation and he was very nice and says he’ll “look into it and call you tomorrow”. That was Tuesday and it is now Saturday.
BUYER BEWARE!!!
Update-
Well I finally got the owner on the phone. Basically told me I was out of luck, and I could tell he didn’t even know what I was talking about as I had to explain to him again what had happened. He had not looked into it AT ALL. So I call back the used car manager and he tells me “I could have told you that!”
Still have not received the check or copies of the paperwork for their supposed “mistake”. Over a month now and I call DAILY and they simply do not return the call.
I am calling the AG’s office on Monday.
You would have to be INSANE to do business with these people.
My wife and I are returning customers of Patrick Subaru… We have always had the best experience at Patrick Motors.. The sales department has always been very friendly and helpful.. When I walk into Patrick Subaru I am not bombarded by obnoxious salesmen as in most other dealerships..
I have never had any issues getting my subaru serviced at Patrick Motors either.. The service department has always been friendly and efficient.. Cant ask for much more than that..
I really cant say enough good things about Patrick Subaru, my wife and I have always had a great experience there.. We have referred many friends to Patrick Subaru and they have had the same positive experience
I recently purchased an ’05 Acura TSX from Patrick Motors with 30K . Upon picking up the car I noticed that two of the tail lights were out. Driving the car two days later on I-90 the entire car starts to shake so violently it was impossible to keep it in one lane. Upon bringing it to an Acura dealership I find out that all four wheels are bent, and there is damage to the suspension system. Also, I am told that the car was brought in to this same dealership to have a new transmission put in. The service staff at Acura advised me to take this “lemon” back to the dealership and get my money back because there was much information being hidden. Patrick Motors refused to give me my money back for the car (2 days after sale) and at first refused to replace the wheels or look at the wheels or look at the suspension. After much arguing and threatening of lawsuit they replaced the wheels. The car spent 7 days in the shop. One week later the car dies. I am now told that the battery needs to be replaced. Patrick motors is refusing to replace it. It is dead because of negligence on their part of never driving the car while on the lot. DO not purchase from this this dealership, you will regret it!
