Found a vw jetta on internet price of $13, 449. Called dealer & spoke to “Mo”. Made appt. To come look at the car. Notice they have NO PRICES listed on ANY of their cars. We arrive on time were greeting very friendly. Looked at car & wanted to take test drive. Waited for salesman to locate keys. He proceeded to tell us “the car was on hold but the people didnt come bcak FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Then we noticed the gas light was on. When I called salesman said he would have the car ready. One would assume that would mean have the key and gas in the car. After waiting almost half hour for salesman to return with 1/4 tank of gas we took the car out for a test drive. We liked the car and wanted to discuss a deal. We park the car and the salesman tells us the customers arrived andthe car was SOLD. We were furious after wasting 3 hours of our time. We were ready to walk. The manager comes running out and tells us our salesman is new and he made a mistake. Well this story can be LONG but I will keep it short THEY LIE ON THE PRICES OF THEIR CARS..they added a $3, 000 “inspection fee” they are deceitful and liers. I had a trade in and they never did tell me what they were giving us for that. For a car they had listed on internet for $13, 888 the TRUE cost was about $16, 788. WE WALKED OUT AND SHOULD HAVE AN HOUR BEFORE WE DID. BY THE WAY THEIR DETAIL SHOP iS TERRIBLE. The car had cigaretee burns on the ceiling and dirty. THIS WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. Cheaters and dishonest. Also this review is from a real customer ..if you dont sign in the way they want they claim it cant be verified..trust me this happened.
After searching online for about a month I came across this dealership with the perfect Vw gti I was looking for. After driving an hour to the dealership from pa. I did not know what I was in for, the car online was advertised for 16986. They didn’t tell me that I had to pay a “inspection” fee of 2000… Being from pa I tried to explain I didn’t need it md inspected I just needed it inspected in pa. Then they continued to tell me that it was a requirement of all there used vehicles. And the worst part was they never even told me about this fee lucky I looked over the bill of sale paper I was taking to my bank. So my car went from 16986 to 21253 With taxes and everything. I decided not to buy the vehicle, then after getting home I noticed that all of the math on the same paper didnt add up at all. And worst of all the salesman had the balls to say to me “I don’t get paid hourly I get paid off commission from selling cars” we’ll you think you would have taken your sale of 19k (everything included) and not tried to screw me of 2k more. NOW YOU GET NOTHING! And I will be reporting to the BBB, MVA and the attorney general.
They did the exact same thing to us . Please contact the attorney general. Its a shame that the state of MD just rolls over and does nothing about the crooks.
After having the fees explained to me, and realizing that the car was never 16986 it was 18986, I agreed to purchase the vehicle. Even with the fee, it is still below blue book value. So Even thougn I diid not receive the steal I thought I was receiving, I still did get a deal on the car. Also Lenny was a pleasure to work with and very helpful.
Shennanigans, sounds like “brandon” is trying to convince us he isn’t one of the salesmen (I’m suspecting Lenny since it’s his horn he’s tooting). No reasonable person would be ok with an additional 2 grand added to what they thought was a good deal. The dealership is a horrid place to buy a vehicle, filled with nothing but lying and manipulative salesmen trying to con people out of their hard earned dollars. Their tactics lure people into the dealership thinking they have a good deal, only to find out they would have been treated better elsewhere. If you value your money, save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere.
Chis – You are 100% correct. You don’t write a review about being ripped $2k and then all of the sudden be Ok with it. People, shop else where they WILL pad the price!
Was going to buy a car but the price changed by almost $2,000 for bogus charges of $1,495 for an inspection(i thight it was $89) to $495 for bogus reconditioning fees. Why doesnt the state crack down on dealers like this that are out to deceive and ripoff customers. As I tell people of my experiences there they are shocked that someone gets away with this trash. Cook should be ashamed of there practices and be made to advertise the real price not add other cost and get away with it because of some small print legal crap. there should be an honesty in pricing law in effect.I loved the car CROOK VW but there are a lot of other cars for sale from honest dealers. You pride yourselves for your years in business. 50+ years of bad pricing practices
This dealership offers low prices online, but when you get to the dealership that add a $2000 reconditioning fee to the vehicles. I was never informed of this fee once. The salesman promised the price as advertised, but they write up the paperwork for several thousand dollars more. Unless you read everything closely chances are you car will const several thousand dollars more than the price they tell you!!! I would strongly reccomend not buying from here!!
I am so glad I found this website, I knew that there was no way there were that many positive reviews about this stealership and this website is the honest one I found so far. I agree with the person below, this dealership is a ripoff, they do try to find everyway out as possible to not want to honor warranty work or deal agreements. I have had it and will make it known to the public about this place. The person that I dealt with is incompetent, not on their game and had given me nothing but excuses when I had needs for my vehicle. I regret buying it here and will never make this mistake again. Honor your work, contract, agreements and warranty and maybe you wouldn’t have this issue.
This dealer is a nightmare. I’m sure most of the reviews on the google search are setup and fake. I bought a used car there, wasn’t a VW but for a somewhat fair price. My car sales man was very nice and wanting to help…at first. Just a heads up as a barganing tool, whatever “fees” they charge you such as a $495 fee to “check and clean” under your car is just a lie, my car still looks greasy and dirty. Their detail department is horrible, there are still stains all inside the car and scratches on the exterior as well. Anywho, I got them to waive ALL dealer fees, tags, title and taxes so before you go know that this is what they can at least offer if they try to tell you no, then you know their lying. Get your warranty in writing as they will try to find every loop hole and crack to get out of it then have the salesman sign and date it. Also while I was there to get the car worked on I have had other frustrated customers telling me that they will never buy from here again and how horrible their experience was. From what they told me, Jones junction is far more better with great customer service and wanting to help with honoring warranty work. Went in for warranty work and couldn’t get an appointment because my car salesman didn’t care now that the car is sold so he didn’t schedule one when I called which he should have, so obviously when I show up on a day it’s “too busy”. Then he’s trying to find loop holes to get out of promising my warranty. If so a law suite will be filed.
HORRIBLE Customer Service. They take high pressure sales and lying to customers to a new level. They make Democrats look honest and Republicans look smart. Now that my rant is done. Bottom line up front is my wife went to the dealership to buy a new VW. She spoke with Lenny over the phone and described the car she wanted, the credit union price that we were quoted and the type of trade we had. Of course, they said come on in. Unfortunately I was working that evening and was not able to go with her. When she showed up, they had marked up the car well over $3500 above MSRP. Low balled the trade $3K below dealer Black Book trade in value for wholesaling the car. I have the same car on order from an honest VW dealer @ $500 under dealer invoice pricing according to my credit union. Bottom line, Cook will never get my business, ever. I am going to tell my story to everyone I know and post on twitter, car forums, Facebook and everywhere else so that people will know how bad this dealer is so they do not get ripped off. Cook VW makes the stereotype sleazy used car salesman proud. Save your money, save your time, go elsewhere. One is too many stars for this dealership
Its sad to read this. I still follow this thread after we were burnt a year ago by Cook. You are totally right this is an honest to the core “old school” high pressure lying dealership. If you are a first time or unfamiliar buyer with finance contracts watch out, they will pad the price with all kinds of “fees” and not detail them in the contract, just add to the bottom line. We paid $2500 over the neg price. Once we noticed the error within 24 hrs it was too late they threatened to repo the car onced we told the finance co we will not verify any info.
The “inspection fee” is a total joke. This is how they make their prices look low in internet searches, look for the small plus MD inspection fee print. You would think hmmm inspection fee is no more than what MD requires, NOT! try a $1000 according to Crook VW.
I know this is the internet & you think all you hear is bad stuff. I never leave reviews like this but we still feel burnt over a year later. What this dealer did to us and the taste it left was so bad we still talk about it. I could write a book here of other problems involved in our deal. Please watch all your paper work and never drive far to see a car at Cook as they will always tell you a car is there even if it is not just to get you in the door.
Please don’t buy a car from Cook and allow this dealer to profit and pray on other people.
I also follow this thread after my dealing with them over a year ago . . everyone need to go to Yelp and review them. I know that I regularly use Yelp while I’m out and about to check on a business before I go there and I know that a lot of other people do the same thing. If all of these bad reviews are posted in a place that is accessible and people are likely to check before they go into Cook, I think it would be really helpful. Also, please file complaints with the BBB, the MVA and the Attorney General’s office. I did this and was actually offered cash by Cook to withdraw all of my complaints (because the manager didn’t feel like answering them). I did not withdraw them, by the way.
This small blip of positivity regarding Cook VW in Fallston, MD forces me to believe that the sales team had some downtime to surf the net and try and repair their poor reputation. Their unethical sales practices are un-American and insulting. Their bait and switch tactics instantly forced me to contact the BBB but now after reading these reviews I will report to the MVA and the Attorney General as well. Enough is enough.
-Insulted Buyer
I am in the midst of filing multiple complaints regarding their sales practices, could you refer me to your attorney?
Just do a Google search for lawyers in your are who specialize in contract fraud. If you find a good lawyer I am not opposed to jumping in on the lawsuit.
I contacted Cook VW about an 05 Infiniti FX35, asked if they’d take 16k on a car advertised for mid 18k, and got a response of No and then my offer is below wholesale value.
I followed up with another offer of $17k and had a coupel questions regarding some options and got ignored. When I followed up to see if they got my email, I got thanks but no thanks.
As a prospective buyer, I found the sales rep to be unprofessional and rude. Why would someone even bother doing business with reps who come across and rude and unhelpful. Ill take my business elsewhere Mr Cook.
This review is for the “pre-owned” portion of the dealership and meant for those that make a long trip to buy a vehicle listed online.
I knew the precise vehicle, 2007-2010 Tundra Crewmax w/5.7L, I wanted so I did a search within 500 miles of my home in Norfolk, Va. A few dealerships and private sellers had vehicles that matched my criteria. It was comparable to the others I found within the same distance and the price was less than $1000 difference. I decided to go with this particular dealership because the price(listed and told to me over the phone).
When I get to the dealership, which was 258 miles from my home, I discover the ‘internet price’ did not include an additional $2,000 in ‘Refurbishing’ fees. I was told these fees are to cover the very stringent 160 point inspection that maryland requires. I manage to get them to reduce that to $1000, but only because I was stuck driving 500+ miles already. On the drive home I noticed a shimmy and grinding noise coming from the front in when I applied the brakes. I took it to a shop to have an inspection done, since not even a maryland sticker was on the car despite what the dealership said. The front rotors were extremely warped, which was the cause of the noise and shaking when the brakes were applied. During the inspection the mechanic also noted that the water pump was failing (coolant leaking from the weephole). When I asked him if any of this could have suddenly occurred during a 250+ mile trip home, he replied that it wasn’t likely simply because the amount of coolant that was caked on the motor and subframe.
Now, less than a month after I purchased the vehicle I need new brake pads and rotors ($700 for parts and labor) and a new water pump ($1200 for parts and labor). Total additional cost for picking Cook Volkwagen over an honest dealership: $2,900. Expect to pay much more than the ‘internet pricing’ suggests.
I understand that parts fail and sometimes there is issues with used vehicles. What I do not agree with is the bait and switch tactics with the price of the vehicle. An additional $2000 on top of the price listed is no where near reasonable or realistic to think that anyone would simply shrug it off. This hidden fee should have been added to the total price when listed, to do otherwise just lures people in with false hopes. It is a shady and dishonest practice.
Yeah, their “refurbish” fee means “Ripoff” fee. They use this as a tactic, I got my moronic sales person to waive these fees as we both knew they were stupid tactic fees. Nothing on my vehicle has been refurbished or cleaned underneath.
Its kinda of funny that this dealer has mostly all bad reviews for months in a row. Once the tread was revived with more poor reviews all these generic 5 star ratings come across, more than likely the dealer left these. Even he acknowledged there could be fake reviews on here, then all the sudden come these 5 star ratings. Hmmmmm
I order a new VW and it finally came in(Jetta). I had no problems and I got exactly what I wanted. I would recommend them to anyone who asked me.They are fair and keep me informed.Salesman did a good job going over the car.
watch out for these guys, rip off alert, never buy from them.go down the street to JONES auto-group much better service, and car lot
This is a phony review possibly written from a competitor. This website does not check the validity of the people posting reviews and therefore make it easy for someone to blatantly smear their competition.
There is not a “Tony” that works at any of the Cook locations.
I called about a car I seen advertised on their website. I had the salesman Wayne send me more info. I called back later and scheduled an appointment. When I got there the next day,the car was clean and good condition for the year and miles. The car was for my daughter so I drove it to a local mechanic to get a second opinion. He said it was fine so I went back to the dealer and did the paper work. Wayne was professional and understanding the whole time and it was a pleasant buying experience.
Got a price from a couple dealers they were the lowest. Went in to get my new tdi jetta it was ready and the price was as promised. Very professional and good exsperiance.
truly a disgrace to volkswagen dealerships, cant believe they opperate like this.almost bought a dodge from them until right before signing the contract,i see the price of vehicle i was buying increased by 4k,i ask the sales rep whats up with that, and he said o it was my mistake.the price was 10,999 for the dodge not 14,999.
so they group together to get there stories straight and come back to tell me that they had to buy down points and there was $1300 inspection fee so the price now was $12,999.we had credit scores of 650’s and 800 so i know fiancing should not a problem.we walked out on them just as they thought i would sign the contract.
truly a disappointment to all v-dubs dealership.
never go to cook auto group you will get ripped off if you dont read before you sign.
I am sorry for what happened at our dealership.I would ask if you could contact me directly and I will do whatever necessary to rectify this situation.
Thank you
Don Burke
General Mgr
following up with 2010 dodge for 10,999…
today i just received statement for credit denial and cook volkswagen is really a disgusting scam how in the world did your sales manager think he would make 7,440 off a 10,999 dodge vehicle.
getting back to the G.M. Don there is nothing you can do to fix this, should have properly trained your sales rep,and sales manager to not rip people off.
Phil –
they did the exact same thing to us & marked up the car $2500 & did not detail this in the contract. Dom played nice guy & used the usual tactics. MD law lets them do this if you sign. We need to get some more details together that this is happening to others , then sue.
Phil, JP, & Others
This is now happening to me. My trade was accepted and now getting the cash back check is proving very difficult, there is discrepancies on what i was told vs. the contract, the rude service and attitude of sales team post sale makes me feel foolish for doing business with them at all, however, Mr. P. Burns in Financing is a diamond in the rough and very compassionate and helpful.
I contact a lawyer tonight to learn my rights and force a reasonable solution from the dealership if necessary. I too, filed complaints with the BBB, MVA, and the Att Gen regarding the seedy but legal business the dealership is conducting. Statements from this website are helpful. It there is proof of blatant law infraction or gray area please feel free to contact us. Settlement is not what I hope to gain in this, i want to improve the standards of conduct residents of the area receive when dealing with this business. There are rights consumers have to protect and ensure fair and transparent dealings with American businesses. Taking the steps to exercise my rights is unpleasant but if one less person is left feeling abused and ripped off then time well spent.

Unfortunately, the buyer was elderly and this dealership preys on the elderly. The price was double the advertised price in the end. The dealership took full advantage of the buyer’s age and truly abused her. Very sad. I am surprised the Better Business Bureau has not shut this dealership down. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM COOK’S, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
Raven 27 see my response to Phil above. We need to get together & file a suit.
This place should be called “Crooks Auto”. My husband and I went in to originally see an 06 passat advertised on their webpage. I called to confirm the vehicle was still available as I would be making an hours drive and was told the vehicle was in inventory and as a matter of fact put on hold while the salesperson went outside to “put his hands” on the car. I came in the very next morning and ironically the car was sold. We were able to find an additional vehicle with comparable price and mileage. Our salesperson got our information and handed it to the GM for processing. Soon after we were vistited by the GM who greeted us with a “literally” crooked handshake and a smile. He went on to say that there were tacked on fees as the bank was charging him several thousand dollars to take our loan (and this had to be rolled into the price of the car). He added that he took the liberty of processing another vehicle that was slightly cheaper so he could save us some money! This said vehicle was 1 year older and had an additional 40,000 miles on it! He tried to convince us he was going us a huge favor and stated that what the bank was doing was “extortion”. I went on to tell him that the same bank approved us at Carmax for a much lower rate and larger amount and he stated “thats not true”. The good thing about Carmax is that the numbers and financing are right in your face directly from the lender. After much arguing we walked out and the immature manager shrugged his shoulders and walked away sparing us from shaking his crooked dirty hand again. We eventually ended up at Carmax which is another review much opposite from this one. Do yourself a favor and dont waste your time with these folks.
What a s***hole of a dealership. They ended up trying to sell me a car for 3x it was worth, and were just sleazy in every possible way. Don, the GM tried to be my “buddy” (calling me hammer for some reason) and sell me a GTI “for a great deal.” They got their detailers to start cleaning the car before I even bought it to try to get me to buy it, and treated the detailers like they were lower than whale ****.
Never will go to again.
On August 6, 2011, my husband and I purchased a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta from Cook Volkswagen. We received delivery of our vehicle the same day, and Cook Volkswagen received our trade in. After leaving the dealership and driving home, it started getting dark outside. We turned on the headlights in the car to find out that there were no headlights. We contacted our salesman, Rich, the next day (Sunday) on his cell phone and he told us to bring the vehicle into the service department on Monday and they would address the problem. On Monday, my husband took the car in, and a fuse was replaced, correcting the problem. The next day, Tuesday, I was contacted by Peter Burns from the finance department. Peter had signed the original contract with us. Peter told me that we had agreed to a $2,000.00 down payment and that the dealership did not collect that from us, so we needed to make the payment. I reviewed the contract to find that we never agreed to make a $2,000.00 down payment. My husband contacted the Manager, Don, who told him that there were duplicate contracts, and that we signed the wrong one, so we would need to come back to the dealership to sign the correct contract. Again, we reviewed our contract and did not see any errors, so we declined to come in and sign a new contract. After getting off of the phone with Don, we were contacted again by Peter. Peter told us that there was an error in our contract. We again told him that we did not see any errors. Finally, Peter told us that we were given a $2,000.00 rebate my mistake and that we needed to come in and sign a new contract that did not include the rebate. We declined (they wanted to call us and be dishonest and slimy, trying to scam $2,000.00 out of us because they made a mistake, but we were supposed to be honest?). Peter then told us that Cook Volkswagen would refuse to pay off our trade in (which was agreed to in the contract) until we signed a new one. Again,we refused. We then received another phone call from Don. Don told us to immediately sign a new contract or return the vehicle. We explained that we have a contract, and that we would be doing neither. Don then told us that they would see to it that our financing would not be approved, thus forcing us to return the vehicle. Our salesman had given us our credit scores on Saturday when we purchased the vehicle, and both were in the 700s. We explained that to Don. There is no reason that our financing would not be approved. Don and Peter continued to harass and threaten us. They threatened to come to our house and to even contact a sheriff and obtain some sort of a warrant and to have our vehicle repossessed. On 8/10/11 my husband and I agreed to return the car to Cook Volkswagen. We contacted an attorney to draw up an agreement to protect ourselves and to rescind the sales contract, reimburse us for any taxes or fees that we may have incurred and to reimburse us for window tint that we had purchased for the car and receive our trade in back. My husband contacted Don and arranged this. Don resisted. He wanted us to return the car immediately and receive our truck and a check for the window tint tomorrow. He also refused to sign the agreement that the attorney drew up. We told Don that we will just keep the car and stick to the contract we have. Don continues to call and harass and threaten us and has even become verbally abusive. As of 8/22/11, Cook Volkswagen has kept our trade-in vehicle and refused to pay off the loan, which is over $24,000. Please be aware of the situation you could be putting yourself into by purchasing a vehicle at this dealership. If they make a mistake in your paperwork, they will force you to pay for it.
Very similar to our situation. Don acted the same way & threaten to call the sheriff to get the car. I thought that was funny. You should have sued them
This was the most ridiculous car buying experience that I have ever been through (and my husband and I buy a new car every year). I tell people about it and they think that I am joking!!! I’m lucky that I work for an attorney so we had help and I’m also not easily manipulated or scared of empty threats. A contract is a contract. Just because they made a mistake in the contract does not make legally obligated to let them out of it – they would never have done the same for me. I wish that idiot would have called the sheriff!!! In the end – I won – just like I said I would. Don called my husband and I and told us that he will “let” us keep the car. HA! Like he had any other choice. I told him we were keeping the car and that’s exactly what happened.
Everyone that has a problem with this place needs to file complaints with the Attorney General, Better Business Bureau and the MVA. I filed complaints with all 3 and Don offered us a car payment (over $400) to withdraw all of them so that he didn’t have to answer them.
I agree & feel the same way Sandra. I am working with the attorney general now but a Lawyer is what anyone needs to get your problem fixed. These guys are old school car dealer scam artists. My problem was very similar to yours involving contract fraud. I will keep in touch.
I’ve been searching for a used car on the internet. I have found two interesting cars at Cook VW, but had problems each time. The first car and was hard for the dealer to locate in its inventory records because the advertised mileage was wrong. When we did find the car, I learned it had been sold 10 days earlier. A week passes, and a second car is listed that interests me. When I called on the car, I learned that the acutal mileage was 25k higher than that listed on the website. A week later, the wrong mileage is still listed despite my notification to the dealer. Looks like this is one of their practices.
Beware of this dealership and be sure to check all information before buying.
In January of 2007 I purchased a 2004 GTI 1.8T from Cook VW. I was 21 years old and it was my first time buying a car on my own. I was greeted and asked multiple questions about what i was looking for by a woman who appeared to be a salesperson. I went over to the used section of the lot and fell in love with the GTI at first sight. This lady took me back to the office and informed me that she wasnt actually a sales person but a receptionist covering for a salesman who was out. I thought this wasnt a big deal as long as a sales manager was present during negotiations. She called the manager over. Talk about a sneeky, sly, crook. This man took advantage of my lack of experience but made it seem like he was my buddy and was going to get me the best deal he could. He came up with a monthly payment of $500 dollars for 5 years. I told him he was crazy. I worked him down to $362.50 a month. I signed all the papers buying the “GOLD” warranty package for 30,000 miles or 3 years, not knowing my intrest rate was sky rocketed when he had originally gave me a much lower rate. I drove off the lot with my car. 2 months later my engine begins misfiring. I took it back and they fixed it. When i went to pick it up they handed me a $700 invoice. I said no my car is under warranty they said “well the package you purchased doesnt cover electronics just powertrain.” Appearently misfiring pistons has to do with the crappy ignition coild they use which are controlled by the cars computer. Low and behold here i am stuck with a car that, since then, has gotten me for about 5 grand in total repairs. Junk cars, junk people working there.
I am sorry to hear that happened to you. My husband and I were in there and I said I feel sorry for young people or old ones that can get cheated here.
Purchased used vehicle from dealership. Would not do business again, however… Vehicle was priced online at a fair price, however, despite dings, scratches, a problem with a fog light, they were unwilling to negotiate. ALSO, beware that there is a $995 dealer processing charge… Normally this is $99 to $300. We found out about this massive addition to the cost of the car when doing the paperwork. For this charge (which was explained as including the inspection and getting the car “ready”), we left the lot with an empty tank, an empty windshield washer fluid reservoir, dirty oil and a check engine light that came on during the drive home.
I came in for routine service and was given a donut and coffee while I waited for my car. The service guys were great ! I will be coming back . Thanks….;)
We purchased a Routan from Cook Volkswagen. After spending 6 hours in the dealership speaking with the sales person, manager and general manager – we finally purchased our 2009 Routan. We negotiated an extended warranty included in the price. They said we would be able to open a VW Credit card account for the down payment – then have 6 months same as cash to pay it off. When we sat down to sign the papers – the credit card didn’t go through – “no problem” said the finance person “we will work it out for you” well, work it out meant we had 2 weeks to come up with the money. Then we recieved a call a few days later. They found a better financing option for us. Less interest, they said. We rushed in to sign the papers. Afterwards, we realized we had been scammed. Yes, the interest rate was lower, but the cost of van had increased AND a full price extended warranty showed up!!! Unfortunately – we didn’t notice this until after we had left the dealership. Within a week we started getting hounding phone calls for the down payment. Once paid, we thought we were finally done with this place. Low and behold – the calls from them started again. They made a mistake on the registration costs. We needed to bring in more money to pay the difference. Even though we had paperwork showing it was paid. Too bad for us. They called EVERY DAY looking for their hundred dollars. As if they hadn’t ripped us off enough. We made several mistakes when doing business with this place. The first one was staying when we should have walked away. The second was not reviewing the paperwork close enough. Beware if you ever decide to buy something at Cook VW! We will never set foot in this place again. Not even for service.
I bought a new Jetta in May 2009. The spare key did not work. I called twice and was told some one would call back and take care of the situation.
No one called back, no one took care of the problem. When I called a 3rd time. I was told I would have to pay!
how do you verify this
My fiancee went in with very stong intention to buy a convertible BMW. She worked with a young lady named Stacy who seemed nice and personable. The car itself was also nice and clean and as advertised. The problem started with the GM (according to Stacy that’s who worked the numbers) quoted her the numbers. They told me the purchase price, the loan rate, the term and the payment. I punched it in bankrate.com and the numbers didn’t come out right, So i questionned Stacy and she still tried to tell me that the numbers that were quoted by them were correct…after 3 times of discussing with her that a simple math equation doesnt lie and that the numbers dont add up together she first stated that she quoted the higher payment because she didnt know about the credit score…so my ? was so are you extending her 4.99% rate or not…she finally confessed that wasnt the case and that the math actually works out to 6%- so i asked her to have her GM who worked the “numbers” to call me back so that i can ask him why they would be misleadingly quoting a customer 4.99% when in fact their numbers are based on 6%. She called back again in place of the GM and told me that the guy was “busy” and that she is calling in his place to let me know that the selling price that she had told me was in fact not “really” the selling price and that the dealership charges an additional charge of $495 for freight and reconditioning…THIS IS A USED CAR!!! The selling price should be the SELLING PRICE! You should not hide an extra $500 on the customer!!! If you need to charge the customer an extra $500 then REFLECT THAT in YOUR SELLING PRICE DONT PLAY HIDE AND SEEK GAMES!!! COOK VW IS IN FACT CROOK VW!!
I was scammed big time. The sales manager was very skilled in stragetically covering the paperwork. EVERYTHING he said was a lie. I wound up buying a 2004 used car for 3 X what it was advertised for.
