😡 Don’t fall for this scam like I did!!!!
I wanted to pay in cash, but they insisted that I could not get a “rebate” unless I financed the car. I was advised to send in the full payment with the first month’s coupon and was assured I would not be charged interest. I was charged interest and had to make several phone calls and send a letter with a copy of my check to get reimbursement from the dealership. They convince suckers like me that paying this way is to my benefit, when in fact they get a kickback from the finance company for each financing deal.
Then there’s the issue of my plates. Two weeks before the temporary plates expired I started calling the dealership about when my permanent tages would arrive. They kept saying there was a “problem” at the DMV and to call back such and such a date. Finally, the day before the tags expired I spoke to the manager who told me not to worry: “there’s a 10 day grace period” for expired tages. That’s simply not true. He told me to call back in 20 minutes and he’d find out what the hold up was. I called back. He told me to call in 1 hour because he was so busy he hadn’t been able to check “I haven’t worked my way back there yet.”. I called back and although they “paged” him several times. I drove over there — I was the only customer. The manager avoided eye contact and the tags person couldn’t see me. I was told my tages would arrive the next day.
Thank God they did.
Do not go NEAR this place. It was the worst shopping experience I’ve ever had, hands down. And I didn’t even get a full tank of gas.
I hope someone finds this useful. I purchased my hyundai sonata 6 months ago, i had the 100,000 manufacturers warranty, i also purchased the power train warranty for $1,300.So today i went to a drive thru and wound down my window,i tried wounding it back up and it wouldn’t go up. So i went to the dealership, thinking since my car was still under 100000miles i will be covered at no cost. I was charged $109 , i was so pissed especially for the inconvenience and the fact that my infant was in the car with the glass down for 25miles. And then i found out that there had been a recall on the brakes and nobody even contacted us. They can do better and follow through on their warranty. A good name is better than money.
The worst car buying experience ever. I called re: newspaper ad. Spoke with manager Marlin, and discussed in detail the “cash for clunker” deal, and specifically discussed the price of the car in which I was interested given that discount.
The newspaper advertised the car as “loaded”, but in fact it was a standard transmission, (which was actually ok with me) had no a/c and no radio. Then after waiting almost 2 hours, to find the car, get my car appraised, (even though it wasn’t necessary given the rebate), Marlin told me that the “cash for clunker” deal didn’t go into effect until July 9th. This was even after he commented on my “clunker”.
No apologies, just shoulder shrugs. We traveled from McLean to College Park for this nonsense. I AM SO ANGRY!!
