I do not recommend Family Hyundai in Tinley to anyone. I had a horrible experience with buying a used vehicle there. I purchased a used 2020 Hyundai Palisade and all I did was buy someone else’s problems. I test drove the car around 5pm and it was getting dark on February 27th so there are many things I did not notice right on the spot. Yes, that is my fault and I have beat myself up about that over and over. I test drove it and all seemed fine. I was told that the car would be detailed and it would look like new. I spend hours sitting there waiting for my turn to sign the paperwork and I THOUGHT the car was being detailed (it wasn’t). On my way home around 9pm the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist came on and said the FCA system was disabled because the radar was blocked. Of course this did not happen during the test drive or I would have passed right on the spot. The next day 2/28 I went out in the morning to take a good look at the car and see if I could figure out what was happening with the sensor. Well I noticed the front bumper cracked near the license plate. Then I noticed a rust spot on the hood and the USB port in the center console didn’t work. The car was also most definitely not detailed. It was filthy! It was covered in what seemed like a black oil substance. We followed up with our sales guy and he said bring it back on Monday 3/1 and it would all be fixed. I wanted to return it but none the less I took it back and I was promised the bumper would be fixed, hood rust would be fixed, USB port fixed, and it would be detailed. I was told it could take up to 3 days. Ok, fine I gave them another chance like they asked. 3 days go by and I get a call saying the car isn’t ready. They are waiting for parts. More days go by and the car isn’t ready because they ordered the wrong part. Days pass and I can’t pick it up because the paint on the hood it too wet. A few more days go by and the car is too wet from being detailed so I have to wait one or two more days. Those days go by and now I can’t pick it up because they can’t get the FCA system sensor to stop coming on. At this point we are at 16 days!! I tell the sales guy I am done with this car. I no longer want it. It had only been in my possession for about 24 hours. He relays the message to the GM who says I saw the car and I bought it that way. He doesn’t have to do anything for me outside of what is under warranty. He said when I bought it back on Monday 3/1 I agreed to have them fix it. I said yes but here we are on 3/16 and I still don’t have the car. I would have never agreed to this if I had known it would be 18 days in the end when I got it back. He said just let me fix it and you can be happy and it was too late to take it back; that the title transfer had already been done. I feel defeated and I say ok I will wait 2 more days. Thursday 3/18 comes around and the sales guy brings it to my house and said it’s been detailed LIKE NEW and everything is fixed including the FCA sensor. I notice the cracked bumper still that he said would be fixed and his response to me was they don’t have to fix that, it just has to be functionable. The only thing they did was fix the USB port, fix the hood and spot wipe the bench seat. There was still the black oil like substance in the center console and the doors were nasty. The interior is just gross. I would give anything to just have this car go back and I wish I never stepped foot into Family Hyundai. I was told so many stories to benefit them.
Nearly everyone who owns a car has had some problems with mechanics, dealers, or manufacturers and most problems are handled with a personal visit back to the dealership.
However, after the service at Family Hyundai in Tinley Park, Illinois I would not recommend the service department at this dealership.
After paying $39.95 for an oil change on June 30, 2016 at approximately 5:00 p.m. I checked under the hood after arriving home and discovered that oil was on the engine cover and sitting in the back area where the oil cap is on top of engine. I then looked down to area of the engine where the oil filter is and discovered oil was all over the lower skid plate.
I was unable to return to the dealership that evening so I went back the next morning July 1, at 8:00 a.m. and asked to speak with the service manager a service person told me he was busy. I then replied I would wait. The service person then when back in the office and a few moments later the service manager Mike Majchrowicz came out. I showed him the oil on the skid plate and on the engine cover.
He looked down at the skid plate and said to me maybe I have an oil leak. I then replied, look at how clean my car and engine is, I would know if I had an oil leak. With 19,050 miles on it there would not be that much fresh oil. I will tell you what happened they tried to fill oil without taking the cover off and they let the filter drip and it ran out of the cup and ran down on the skid plate.
As I am sure you can appreciate, I rely on my car for transport and apart from the normal wear I keep my car up. (I have pictures as proof).
By this time several customers and all the service personal are standing watching the both of us stare each other down in the middle of the service bay. I stood there waiting for him to make the first move, he stated have I simmered down. I replied I would not have to simmer down if you had not said I have an oil leak instead of taking the time to look and see that the oil was fresh.
The service manager then slammed the hood down on my car and told me to get out.
I then locked my car and went to the sales floor to see if there was anyone I could talk to. I was told managers would not be in until 9:00 a.m.
Shortly after that another gentleman from service came out and asked could he help me. I told him my problem and he said he understood how that could happen and would have it taken care of right away. Although, he mentioned his name I forgot it I think he was another service manager. After two trips that day the oil was cleaned.
I am dissatisfied with the service because I have never been in a car dealership and had someone slam my car hood down with both hands and then told to get out.
Unfortunately, the service department is discreditable and have an appalling service manager named. Unlike, the sales people who were very helpful that day.
Let me tell you about my exceptional experience I had at Family Hyundai. First of all, I had been car shopping for a few weeks and looking at cars online. I had 3 brands in mind because of people I know and what I was looking for. Originally, Hyundai was 3rd on my list because I do now know anyone with one, but I thought they looked cool and the reviews are really good online. After checking out the 2 other brands and taking them for test drives, I didn’t feel anything for them. I then finally followed up with Aleisha who had been calling me since I inquired online. I spoke to her and she was great. She let me know about some cars in stock, and scheduled an appointment with me so I could meet with someone. I came in on a Saturday and met with Kristi was also was great! I told her I was interested in the Sonatas and we went for a test drive. She told me so much about the car, and was great! Very thorough presentation of the car. After we got back, we discussed some numbers and I explained to her my financial situation. She worked the numbers out to where it would be a fair deal for me. I feel like I got a great price on my car. I love it!!! The new Sonatas are awesome. I met with Al and then Jon. Both of which who were also very nice and explained everything. I didn’t feel rushed but at the same time, I didn’t feel like they were wasting any of my time. After finance, I had my picture taken by Kayla and was put on their “family tree” What a cool idea!!! Kristi then covered everything in the car that I got and I was done. Probably the smoothest car purchase I have ever had. Family Hyundai made everything painless and stress free! I DEFINITELY recommend them to anyone looking for a car!!!
My husband and I walked in on a busy busy Saturday, as soon as someone who was available saw us, we were greeted immediately. Hunter showed us a few Elantras that we were interested in that we saw online. We test drove it too. Hunter is so knowledgeable on the Elanta, I feel like after being with him for a couple hours, I could work for Hyundai! He is also very nice. We agreed on which car would be best, the Elantra Limited is LOADED! I’ve never gotten so many options on a car for such an affordable price! My payments are great, John in finance gave me a great rate. Al also told me about the paint protection since I do keep my cars for a long time. Overall, great experience. I definitely recommend Family Hyundai. When I need a new car, I will return.
I was car shopping for the last 3 weeks, just seeing what’s the most car I can get for the money. The sonata seems like a great deal, with everything you get, the quality, how it looks, it’s a nice car. So i called in and spoke with Erica, and she was nice, so she set up an appointment for me to come in and I met with Hunter. Hunter is a very nice guy. He showed me the Sonata, went on a test drive, and covered everything in the car with all the features. It took some time to negotiate a price, and wait for finance, but everything all in well went pretty smooth. I definitely had a very pleasant experience at Family Hyundai and I definitely will return again to purchase another car.
I brought my Tucson in for an oil change and at first, he said that it would only take about 30 min, but they noticed later a few things wrong with it. He was pretty accurate with the wait time and gave me a loaner. They even followed up with me when the car could be picked up. My service advisor was friendly and he knew a lot about my car. He answered all of my questions thoroughly which made me trust him more. I felt like they did a nice job on my vehicle overall and I would definitely take my car back there for any other service repair. Nice dealership. When I trade my car in, I will take it to Family. They are a lot better than the Hyundai dealer I bought my Tucson from.
I met with Larry in sales and he was great. Showed me all the cars I wanted to see and was very patient. I ended up spending all day there but I am happy they didn’t make me feel rushed and listened and answered all of my questions. I definitely will purchase more cars from them in the future and highly recommend them to anyone. They really take the time to earn their customer’s business and their trust and that means everything to me. It’s a lot easier to buy a car from someone you trust because you know you will be happy with the car for time to come. Thanks Family Hyundai!
I walked into Family Hyundai because I have been interested in the Santa Fe’s. I met with Hunter, he was very polite and knowledgeable on the cars. He told me all the features and options I could want on the car. After spending some time with him, I decided to go home and think about it since this was a big decision. He was very nice about it and we set up a time for me to come back in and talk again. I called him the next day and decided to buy the Santa Fe. Hunter was excellent throughout the entire car buying process and was very helpful. I love my new Santa Fe!
I have been car shopping for an Elantra for about a month, I inquired online and provided some information. Aleisha called me back asking when I wanted to come in. About a week later I came in and met with George “skip” and he was great. Gave me all the necessary information and details I wanted to know about the cars and went on a test drive. I went with an Elantra limited and it’s so loaded with features I cannot believe what I paid for everything I got!!! Family Hyundai really gives you a great value for the money and so does Hyundai brand as well. I could not be more happy with the car I am now driving and plan on for years to come.
I came in to look at Elantras and met with GW. He was super friendly and helpful. He covered all of the details and features I could want in my car. Then I test drove the car and loved it! I think the price was good on my car and I am overall happy with my monthly payment. Very nice dealership. I will come back again.
I have never driven a Hyundai before but my neighbors just bought a Hyundai and they told me that Family Hyundai was a nice dealership. I met with Donnetta and she was great. I test drove the Tucson and Santa Fe. I liked the Tucson more since the space was enough and they are really fuel-efficient. I am really happy with the price I paid for the car and I think I’ll have the Tucson for some time. I really like the way Family Hyundai valued my time and how quickly the process went. Very nice place, I definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a car. They also have a huge selection of used cars.
I have ALWAYS wanted a Hyundai Sonata. Unfortunately, in this economy, it’s been difficult. I went into another Hyundai dealership and looked at them just to get an idea if it would be possible. They immediately were making it seem like they didn’t want to talk numbers or test drive the car. Very unfriendly, so we of course didn’t buy a car from them. As devastated as I was, my husband decided to take a shot in the dark to see if Family Hyundai was willing to work with us. My husband spoke to Vino and he said just for us to come in and we will work a monthly payment that’s affordable. He was right! After making a few adjustments that the other dealership wasn’t willing to take the time to do, we were driving a 2012 Sonata! I love my car. I am so excited to have a car that I love and can be proud of. All thanks to Family Hyundai!!! I highly recommend them!
I had been car shopping all day when I came into Family Hyundai. None of the other dealerships in the area really had what I wanted and I have seen the new Sonatas and think they look really nice. I walked in and was greeted so nicely and was helped right away. My salesman was great. He took me on a few test drives so I could see some different features, used a new, and just overall how the car drove. The Sonata was great! I instantly fell in love. They also gave me a great deal. (I actually received a call the next day from another Hyundai dealer who had received my inquiry online and when I asked them how much they could give me a Sonata for, their price was higher.) It was a busy Saturday afternoon so I was waiting a little bit, but not too long. The atmosphere in the dealership was great, and with everyone being so friendly, made this a great experience. I will definitely buy my next car from here. Most likely another Sonata!
I had been looking online for an Elantra for a few months. I entered my information in online and Erica called me. She asked me what I was looking for and after she confirmed that the car was in stock I made an appointment to come in that following day. I met with Hunter. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met, certainly not the “high pressure” car salesman type. He knew just about EVERYTHING you need to know, and could ever want to know about the car. We discussed price and was able to agree on a fair price. The entire process was so simple and easy, it went quickly. I think Family Hyundai is a great place to buy a car from and certainly recommend them other people.
I bought my car at Family Hyundai in April of 2003. I called Family Hyundai because I was hearing a lifter noise. I wanted to bring it in to see what the problem was. The car has 114,000 miles on it but with the Family Hyundai’s advertised “Lifetime Warranty on the Engine and Powertrain”, I thought the problem would be covered. I found out that the car had only had a 100,000 mile Hyundai warranty from the factory. The Lifetime Warranty was invalid because I did not get all the service done at Family Hyundai. I told them that I spent 2 years out of town and got the oil changes done and had receipts to prove it. The service man said that you have all the service done at this dealership and have to follow the yellow booklet to the tee. “His exact words.” I don’t blame Tom as he is doing his job. I blame the dealership for not putting it in writing. They never told me that I needed to get all the service done at this dealership. The only thing they tell you when you are buying a car is that you need to have the oil changed at every 7,500 miles. I found out that this is not true in the Chicago area as with all the polluntants, you have to get the oil changed every 3,000 miles. Tom offered to look at my car but for a charge, but I declined. I have two Hyundai”s, a 2002 Sante Fe with 96,000 miles and a 2003 Sonata with 114,000 miles. I have brought both cars in for everything when I could. Obviously with being out of town, it makes it difficult to do that. So in closure, I will not bring either car back there for any service, nor will I buy another car from them. I have bought 3 cars from this dealership, and this is how they treat you. I will tell everyone that I know about my problem and tell them that the “Lifetime Warranty” is a joke. I will never set foot in this dealership again.
