Ken Halderman / Blue,
I just wanted to let you know that this was the best new car buying
experience that I have ever had in my life.
I have purchased at least 5 new cars in my life. Historically car
dealers have been tricky and confrontational in my experience.
The last 2 Honda’s we purchased through AAA just to avoid all the hassles.
It was a true pleasure dealing with you and Pohanka Honda.
I know that you were surprised at my skepticism, but I have had some
really bad experiences in the past with various car dealers.
I must say they you and Pohanka are fantastic. It was a really great
experience and everyone that we talked with in the dealership was the same.
The environment and people at Pohanka are all friendly and fun.
By the time we left, I wished that I could work at a place like this.
This is our 5th Honda Accord, so I am sure we will be back to see you
again – even if it is a 3.5 hour drive.
Thanks again for all your help.
Dave & Laura G
If you want to waste an entire Saturday getting nothing accomplished, then Pohanka Honda is the place for you. If not, then avoid the place like it has the black plague. We wasted 6 1/2 hours of our precious time getting passed around, pressured and lied to from multiple people of their staff, including their head manager. It took over 3 hours to just to see the car we wanted to buy, let alone start all the paperwork and negotiations.
The salesperson we ended up with, Gunny, was very professional and knowledgable. But as soon as we started the numbers game, a sales manager was brought in, Barbara, with a high pressure, snobbish attitude towards my wife and I. She was rude to us and tried to pit us against each other when she got one of us alone, making up things, trying to sway a decision from us. It took almost 2 hours to negotiate the car price, the trade in price, and options. They didn’t have the color we wanted, but was promised it would be easy to get one from another dealership. Then they went back on that and told us we had to take one off their lot in a color we didn’t want. Then we were told they had one coming in on Monday that we could buy. Six hours at the dealership and about to start signing paperwork and the head manager decides he doesn’t want to sell us the one coming in on Monday for the agreed prices and told us again we had to take one off the lot.
So recap: lied to, time wasted, treated poorly, bad customer service, and deals made that were changed late in the game. We walked away very upset and angry, feeling cheated and lied to. The next day we went to Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge and got a better deal on the color we wanted, treated like valued customers, and walked away in 3 hours happy. DON’T GO TO POHANKA!
Using our USAA Car Buying Service, we received a quote for a 2010 Honda CVR from Pohanka that we thought was too good to be true. We got exactly what we requested at the exact price they quoted. Helena Fountain was very thorough and professional and made the process very easy. It was worth the drive from PA to VA; however, next time I purchase a car from them, I will take Amtrak down. The staff at Pohanka will pick you up from Amtrak in the car you plan to purchase and let you drive it to the showroom. The dealership is very accommodating and Helena is great to work with.
I found Gerry to be very honest and very willing to take the time to listen to everything I wanted and did not want in my vehicle purchase. She showed me several cars that I found fit exactly what I was looking for and I told her that since I was just beginning my car search I wanted to research a few other vehicles first but that she was high on my list of candidates. well I called her personal cell to talk about buying the car from her this morning and she informed me that her manager Chris had fired her Tuesday night because she had not sold a car yet. well I believe that was a very big mistake on the part of this dealership because I would have sent all my family and friends to Gerry to purchase a vehicle , so the truth is now I am going to another dealership to purchase my car .
WE HAVE BEEN DEALERSHIP FOR YEARS,NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANYONE UNTIL YESTERDAY. WE HAD CAME IN AT ABOUT 3PM,IT WAS BUSY ,BUT NO PROBLEM.WE WAITED TO TEST DRIVE A 2010 HONDA PILOT.WE WERE GREETED BY DANNY HICKS,WHO WAS WARM AND FRIENDLY BUT BUSY. HE GOT US THE VECHILE TO DRIVE AND WE DID.WHEN WE HAD GOTTEN BACK MR.HICKS WAS BUSY WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER. SO ANOTHER LADY SAID SHE WOULD TAKE OVER,SHE ACTED LIKE WE WERE BOTHERING HER FROM THE VERY BEGINNING,SHE HAD INFORMED US THAT THE CARS ON THAT LOT WERE NOT FREE,AND THERE WERE NO DEALS ON ANY HANDAS UNTIL NOVEMBER OR SO. WE SAID OKAY AND SHE PRECEDED DOING THE PAPER WORK,WAITING TO FIND OUT WHAT OUR TRADE IN WOULD BRING.SHE WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT FINANCING, MY HUSBAND SAID WE WOULD BE PAYING CASH, SHE SAID “WE ACTUALLY PREFER FINANCING”.ANYWAY, WHEN WE GOT BACK THE PRICE ON OUR TRADEIN IT WAS7500.00. WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS TOO LOW, AT NO TIME DID SHE TRY TO WORK WITH US ,SHE JUMPED UP AND LEFT.LATER HAVING WORDS WITH MY HUSBAND,SHE WAS VERY RUDE AND WE WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN. I WISH DANNY HAD CONTINUED TO WORK WITH US,BUT TOO LATE..I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED LIKE THIS BY ANYONE BEFORE.MAYBE THAT CASH FOR CLUNKERS DID HER IN , WHO KNOWS? THANK YOU, THANK YOU, DONNA AND OTIS LANCASTER
