I contacted Galpin Ford via internet. I received a response in about 2 hours and made an appointment. The internet manager- Gary Judy- introduced me to Jack, another internet salesperson and disappeared never to be found. The salesperson had a form with my car needs. We walked the back lot and looked for the cars in their invetory but never found them. He then drove me to a remote lot and there again did not find any cars from the inventory list. Jack then proceeded to pressure me at buyin a car that was $4,000 more than the one I was told was in inventory. Also told me that all their cars come factory installed Lo-Jack at $495 and it cannot be removed eventhough I was ready to purchase the car for cash. This is a clear “Bait and Switch” tactic. This could have been my third car purchased from Galpin and my fifth Ford car in the last 36 years. I need people to know as to the honesty of the dealership. It is not the fault of an individual but a Corporate M.O.
I was very disappointed today by the procedure and use of tricks in order to get a customer back in the door. I got a call from the sales person who was assigned to me during my visit this past weekend that my offer for the Ford Raptor at $41,000 was accepted. Luckily I had the sales person on Bluetooth in my car so he was heard by 4 others that were in the car at that time. He told me to come to Ford to finish the deal and I gladly agreed, I even told him to have the paperwork ready so I can just sign it. I drove 45 miles from Oxnard to Galpin Ford to shortly after my arrival discover that the paper in front of me showed a figure of $43,706. It was a shocker. He was in the room when this other sales person brought this paper and I asked him bluntly “what did you tell me over the phone?” I’m grateful that he responded and admitted that he told me $41,000 many times. Even though he admitted this they did not adjust the price to honor what he had told me less than an hour ago via a phone call.
I’d like this fraud to stop, Galpin Ford was not like this before but I guess harder times require different tactics, too bad this is accepted at the dealership.
If you go to Galpin Ford, go see George Rice. He helped me get a brand new car with horrible credit and I also got 0% financing. George was was so polite and told me not to worry about anything because he was the one would do the worrying and I just needed to relax. He kept everything very professional and positive. He treated me with respect that I did not get at other dealers in the area. George is the absolute BEST car salesman ever. Go to Galpin Ford and see George Rice – you’ll walk away a happy customer. đ
I hate to this, but I have to share what they did to my wife’s 10 years anniversary gift/ Valentines Day gift.
They Sold me a car on Sat 2/6/10 paid $2000 drive-off and they agreed to have the car cleaned and ready for Monday the 8th. One hour after I left the dealer Mr. David Choi the Sales Manager called to let me know that deal was off and that was it. So I call them back and explain to them that I cannot take back a gift that I just gave to my wife. Mr. David Choi did not offer any options but to call the deal off. Next day on Sunday the 7th my brother-in-law and I went to see Mr. David Choi in his office to try to see what realy happend. After few minutes of talking very respectfully to Mr. David Choi, he simply kicked us out of his office. So I went ahead and file a lawsuite against the owner Mr. Herbert F Boeckmann II and his dealership Galpin Motors, Inc. I am also going to file a complain against the dealer with DMV Investigator, BBB, and Federal Trade Commission. Now, before I was going to do all this I did let them know of my actions and they simply told me off. This company must learn a good lesson, please beware.
I have never had this much fun buying a vehicle! Galpin Ford was truly the best car buying experience I have ever had! The salesperson was amazing! Friendly, honest and truly cared about finding a great vehicle for my needs. The pricing I received was way better than anything I found online or was given by any other dealers. I won’t buy a vehicle anywhere else.
I would not recommend this dealership. The sales person was nice however, the management was horrible. In fact, one of the finance managers was plain rude. But what got me most was the backhanded trick they pulled.
We had a price dispute and left. The next day, we got a call from them telling us that the head guy, Tony Arnault had approved our price and come and get the car. However, by the time we managed to get things organized to go the dealership, we were told that the car had sold, and there were no others available in their inventory.
Next day we called anxiously to see if they could get one from other dealerships. Miraculously, they had received the exact car we wanted that morning, although day before none was even coming in. However, the price, that we had negotiated the days before, had gone back to their original offer and our conversation of day before was a âmiscommunicationâ. What an underhanded scheme to get more!!!! This type of a tactic is what to expected at âused car dealersâ but I never thought to see it at the biggest Ford dealer.
Beware, apparently, management has no problems outright lying and no deal is final until the docs are signed.
