I stopped in to purchase a new vehicle on a Monday morning. I was told they were “closing out the books from previous month” and it would be several hours before I knew what price rang fell in my desired payment. I agreed, though I had never experienced this before. I would also like to say this sales person was a pleasure to work with while I was in the dealership. That evening I was called by my sales rep, it would be the next day. I expressed my frustrations and agreed; that was two days ago and I have not heard anything else from him. Yesterday I went back up to the dealership wanting to look and possibly test drive (I didn’t get a chance to do this before). It took twenty minutes to get a sales rep, but when I did he was slightly rude. I politely thanked him for his time and left. Apparently this dealership is not interested in making sales. I’m a little disappointed because my first sales rep was very kind and enjoyable to work with, but blew me off.
Don’t ever get major work done here. Went in for rough idle and they took the heads to a fly by night machine shop (service guy’s friend) and now I use a quart of oil every 500 miles and they would not stand by the repair. $2600 bucks……..Service Manager (Russ) would not even call me back! May be okay for an oil change but make sure you check your filter and pan plug for tightness and check your oil level before you drive off.
Took this car there because I thought I would get good work done at a dealer. It is an immaculate vehicle that has always been garaged. They also did body damage to the driver door bottom from the hydraulic lift.
Unbelieveable.
I had just purchased a pre-owned Lincoln LS from a dealership in Springfield, IL and was on a business trip to Indianapolis. The transmission failed! I called this dealership and Steve Braaten asked me to have the car towed in and he would try to help me. He went to bat for me. Without his great assistance, the rotten Hyundai dealership where I purchased the car would have left me stranded and paying for a new transmission for a car I had owned only 4 days. He ordered a reconditioned trans for me and had it installed and ready to go the very next morning! He even printed the vehicle history report that my Illinois dealer refused to do. Even the CCF Parts staff helped me find a hotel for my overnight stay! I wish I had purchased my car from Capitol City Ford! Unfortunately, I live in Illinois, but I’ll NEVER forget how Mr. Braaten and his service staff treated me. I felt truly cared for. This is a dealership with integrity and great service. Thank you.
I stopped by the dealership on saturday afternoon and signed the paperwork to buy a escape hybrid. I took the car home but did not drive it at all over the week end . the car was not cleaned or the stickers removed. I tried to cancel this sale and buy another car but they would not do it saying my old car had already been sold to a wholesaler which turned out to be a lie. They put my old car up for sale on their lot 2 days later. This dealership is not to be trusted.
I am truly embarressed that I have to respond to this but here goes. I am the salesperson that helped Mr. Grove. Mr. Grove came into the dealership on a Saturday about 10 minutes prior to closing. I greeted him with a smile and he told me he wanted to buy an Escape Hybrid. After learning of his needs and wants I worked very hard to meet them, and after 2 hours he happily headed home in his new escape hybrid. I explained to Mr. Grove at the time of delivery that we would give his new escape a proper cleaning on the follow Monday since the cleaning crew had understandably left. He returned Monday afternoon wanting to “return” the Escape. Obviously, buyers remorse had set in. I told Mr. Grove that I would look into it and see if I could help him. After doing some research, i discovered that the bank had in fact already fully funded the deal as well as his trade in being wholesaled. Mr. Grove stated that I “lied” in his review of me and the store. The reason he feels this way is because he seen his trade in on the lot after it had been wholesaled. We are not responsible for when a wholesaler picks up thier purchases. The fact remains that it was no longer the property of Capitol City Ford. The reason it was wholesaled is that it simply did not pass inspection. In addition to a broken seat, other problems were found and that is why it was wholesaled and we simply could not “erase” the deal that Mr. Grove agreed too. BTW…the problems with the trade-in were never brought up at the time the deal was negotiated…ummm???? And I “lied?” In spite of all this i told Mr. Grove that I would sincerely work with him to trade him out of his escape and into whatever he would like. I never got the chance, he stormed off in anger. That offer remains to this day. Yet no response from Mr. Grove. You simply do not have a prosperous 15 year career in auto sales by screwing people as you suggest Mr. Grove. My customer service ranking remains one of the highest in the region for good reason. I am sorry we could not come to a resolution on this one, but I hope you will get over your anger and give us a shot in the future.
REVIEWERS, as with most things in life…there are always two sides to a story. If there is one thing i have learned in any business, it is this: You can’t please 100% of the people, 100% of the time. Yet, I try!
I would like to respond to a few of the things Mark stated. He indicated that I sold My Honda knowing there were problems with it. This is totally false. This very low milage Honda was purchased new and was serviced at Honda at the proper times and all service and repairs were done that were recommended by Honda . I bought the extended warranty on this vehicle when I purchased it and it was still in effect when I sold it so I had no reason to not have any major problems repaired. Also if I knew there were problems with the vehicle why did I want it back. The reason I told him I wanted to change the sale was that the escape hybride could not tow my tent camper and so I wanted to keep the Honda and buy a Focus to use every day for better gas mileage which was the only reason I was trading the car. He indicated the seat was broken there was a small piece of plastic on the drivers seat which the screw had pull through on. Honda had put a new screw in it but it did not hold I was planning to replace the part the next time I took it into Honda. The electric seat worked fine. This Honda Odessey only had 52,000 miles on it and I did not sell it because I had to. The body was not perfect it had no rust since it was constantly garaged but it did have some small dents. Mechanically it ran perfectly and I imagine someone is enjoying it now. This was the third vehicle I had bought at this dealership but it will be the last.
