Burien Honda is conveniently located in the greater Seattle area for both vehicle sales and service. If you are looking for a Honda dealer serving Tacoma, a Honda dealer serving Bellevue, a Honda dealer serving Seattle, or one right here in Burien, we’ll be happy to help.

Burien Honda continues to be a terrible place. We’ve had nothing but rude and inattentive service with them in the years we’ve owned out van. Their service department continues to be grossly misnamed. They sold us a canadian van illegally in 2000 and misrepresented that this voided any warrenty:devil(. When approached about helping us they were completely uninterested in correcting their mistake or even helping us fix our problem.
Avoid them at all cost.
I just bought my new Fit from Burien Honda and I can’t say enough good things about the whole transaction. My review is long, but the bottom line is that if you’re looking for a great deal and fast, no-hassle no-pressure customer service, go find their internet sales consultant Ed Oliver– the best car salesman I’ve dealt with during my entire car search.
Everyone’s situation is a little different, so I’ll try to give you as many concrete details as possible about mine so you can decide what’s best for you:
1. I did my homework: read all the tips and guides from Edmunds and Carbuyingtips.com. Also, I knew exactly what car I wanted– the ’09 Honda Fit.
2. I solicited internet quotes from about 10 dealerships around the greater Seattle area.
– A couple dealers refused to provide a quote by email and requested that I go in; I told them “no thanks,” because I have a horribly busy schedule and didn’t have a car at the time, so if they wanted my business we needed to agree on a price first.
– A few gave me ridiculously inflated quotes (a tactic I don’t really understand because they know I’m getting multiple quotes via Edmunds with the TMV pricing in mind).
– The remaining offered what seemed like good deals, so I followed up on these and negotiated. At first, I had a “deal” worked out with another dealership, but it turned out to be a lie and they tried to force overpriced accessories on me. I won’t name names here, but I’m sure you can find my bitter review if you peruse the Seattle area dealers list on this site. After that horrible experience, I definitely had my guard up (even kept Attorney General’s & BBB’s phone numbers handy just in case I encountered bad business practice again).
3. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to deal with Burien Honda.
– First of all, Ed Oliver in the internet sales department responded to my quote request within 5 minutes (I kid you not). It was the quickest response out of all the dealerships, barring automated replies of course. He provided me with what they call a “TRUE price quote,” which means no hidden/extra costs/fees or unwanted add-ons. Just upfront, crystal clear pricing. At first, I thought, yeah sure…that’s what they all say. But in this case, it really turned out to be true! During our e-mail exchange, Ed’s responses were always polite, straightforward and lightning-quick (I love speedy and tech-savvy customer service!). Speaking of tech-savvy, I was also impressed by the “live chat” feature they have on the Burien Honda homepage. You can chat with Ed and ask questions while browsing their inventory online. They make it easy for us busy (or lazy) folks to buy a car with just a few clicks of the mouse. Not all dealerships are with the times like they are.
– Second of all, the price he quoted was below TMV…now for a popular car like the Fit with very slim negotiating room, that’s a great deal!
– Finally, we agreed on a deal with the specific options I wanted. Because of my previous bad experience, I asked him to email or fax a signed purchasing order with all the numbers clearly laid out so I was sure we had a binding agreement (many dealerships refuse to provide this, especially a signed one). Not surprisingly by this point, Ed had prepared the document with all the right numbers and specifications, had the manager approve and sign it, and scanned and emailed it to me all within a couple of hours of my request. Upon receiving this, I felt comfortable with putting down a deposit for my factory shipped Fit, straight from Honda. Even though I gave them my credit card info for the deposit, they just took my word that I would come in later and never actually charged it.
4. A couple of weeks later, the my new car arrived! A friend of mine drove me down there and helped me inspect the car. What a beauty, more gorgeous than I had imagined :). Burien Honda detailed the car (wax & clean), added wheel locks, and filled gas tank for free before I picked it up. I took it on a test drive, and Ed walked through the features and functions of the car with me. He even showed me how to check all the fluid levels and basic maintenance tips. I really appreciated his thoroughness and willingness to answer any questions that I or my friend had, and addressed all my needs.
5. Now for the final phase that we all fear–signing the dizzying amount of paperwork in the backroom with the stereotypically pushy finance manager. Not the case here! The F&I person was actually the sales manager himself, and he is actually Ed’s brother, Gordon Oliver. It’s like a family business :). Anyway, it went super fast and super smoothly for me. I felt no pressure at all to buy any extras that I didn’t want. He was courteous and answered any questions I had. Funny aside, I actually ended up paying $3 less than our original deal.
– Because I have a hectic work schedule, Ed promised that he would have me in and out in less than an hour. Guess what? He kept his promise. I drove out of there with my new car and went back to work in under an hour indeed, but didn’t feel rushed during any part of it at all. They were thorough yet efficient at the same time–now that’s what I like to see in a dealer!
6. I’m loving my new car :-D, and I really want to thank Burien Honda (esp. Ed Oliver) for a fantastic buying experience!
I hadn’t gone car shopping in over 6 years, so I had a lot of anxiety going into this big purchase. Luckily, I found a great dealer and sales associate that really made car buying a breeze. I’ll definitely recommend Burien Honda to my friends and family. Hope you found my review helpful and good luck with your own purchase!
