My husband purchased a 2001 Chrysler sending from this business on July 3rd 2012. We were told by the salesman and the used car manager (both of which are no longer employed at the company) that the car we were purchasing was in great shape clean carfax and had in fact been owned by a Chrysler dealer. We were also told that the oil and filter had been changed, the car had gone through a multi point inspection and would last us quite awhile. On Sept 9th the car died, with no dashboard warning lights coming on, while my husband was driving in a 45mph area on a back road along a river. He was able to get it safely to the opposite side of the road then the river and it came to a stop in a wooded area. We had the car towed to our mechanic shop and after looking at it and draining the oil we were told that the engine was not repairable and that there should have been more oil in it if the dealer had done the work we were told they had. 5 quart engine only 1 1/2 quarts of oil in it, with no evidence of a leak anywhere. We contacted the dealer and after speaking to several people at the dealership we were shown two other cars that would work for us, but the dealer refused to come down in price on either of them to keep our monthly payment where we need it, we were also told that we were getting a high tradein value of $3000.00 considering the car wasn’t running. When I requested this a price drop of one of the two cars we were shown Bill (the company president) said that he couldn’t make a bad business deal like that and lose money. He suggested that we borrow money from our parents or grandparents. (My husband is 29 and I am 26, would he have suggested this to and older couple?) Due to the fact that we couldn’t afford the two options they gave us we were told we had to wait until a car in our price range came on the lot. This was 9/13/2012. We have been waiting. Yesterday the president of the company called to say he had a 2001 intrepid come on the lot, the car he is refering has actually been on their lot for 19 days.. why did this take so long? My husband has a $5,511.70 loan on a car that is not in running order and was sold to us as is. We bought the car based on the information we were told regarding its history and clean record. I contacted Chrysler LLC and after several weeks of going around with them, they have come to the conclusion that they can not help us in this situation. We are disgusted by the way we have been treated by Brubaker Chrysler Jeep, when you buy a vehicle from a reputable 5 star Chrysler certified dealer you certainly expect it to run longer than 2 months and 6 days. Two days ago we were forced to buy another vehicle so that my husband can get back and forth to work. Meanwhile we will continue to wait for a resolution to the lemon sitting in our driveway.
