July 5, 2012 I found a 2000 BMW 3-series online listed for the price of $9,000. I emailed the dealership making an offer of $9,000 out the door for it and received an email back from the dealership’s “internet sales manager” named Jessy Custodio clearly stating “to make an easy deal, I’ll accept 9000 out the door for this vehicle.” I emailed Jessy back saying how I could arrive at the dealership the next day to make the purchase but immediately then was contacted by Jessy’s assistant, Celeste Marquez. Celeste informed me that the vehicle was available but undergoing the reconditioning process and should be ready by the afternoon of Monday July 9. Coming from a two hour drive, my family and I arrived at the SF BMW dealership and the car was shown by a sales person, Markus Namesny, who said the car is ready to go after a wash and detail “which should not take more than 2 hours”. Having my offer of $9000 out the door approved by Jessy I made it obvious to Markus that I liked the car and would like to purchase it for the previously agreed price.
Once inside the dealership Jessy came up and claimed his email was voided and claimed the management was no longer willing to sell the car for the agreed price. Jessy said how the car had been repriced to $11,000 and no longer $9,000. I showed him a copy of his own email to make it clear that there should be no misunderstanding or any excuses to try and sell me the car at a higher price. I demanded to speak to the general manager and Sergei Beloi, a finance manager came to speak with me instead. In addition to making a false advertisement/approval of offer, I was lied to again as I was told Sergei Beloi was the general manager and not Michael Greening. Sergei was very unfriendly and made it obvious he did not care of the situation or the dealership’s lacking reputation.
Having been lied to, I am disappointed since the dealership again shows a lack of ethics. (I say again since this is the second bad experience with this dealership). I have bought many cars throughout my life and I know an appointment is not necessary to look at a vehicle. Knowing I could arrive by the time I was told the car could be ready, nobody from the dealership ever cared to inform me of the price change before then.
***BE CAREFUL if you plan to buy at SF BMW OR BETTER YET, avoid dealing with such a lying dealership! The first time I bought a newer, used 3-Series there was an issue with the car’s registration since the car was sold to me and no smog had been done! Because of my bad experiences with this dealership I have decided to make this public to inform and warn consumers of such a bad dealership. My next step from here is to make inform BMW USA and any other agencies and media to spread the words….AVOID DEALING WITH SF BMW!
