I have ben a customer for 8 years. I bought my first Prius there in 2004. I was always happy with the service until last year when I had a very bad experience with the service department. I then found out that the ownership was changing and the old staff was leaving one by one creating havoc with the service.
After the new owner came onto the scene the whole place was different, down to the pastries and bagels that were there for the customers in the waiting room. They are now wrappped up indivually and the entre place is immaculate. The staff is friendly and very eager to please. It is a pleasure to go there now.
In fact I just bought the 2012 Plug-in from Westbury and coudn’t be happier. Luis Lall’s knowledge about the plug-is remarkable.
Service Dept has become Horrible. Have been going to this dealership for 5 years. Used to love the experience. As of the past year the service has gone downhill significantly. Over the summer we had a NYS inspection. They called us back and recommended over $800 of unneeded repairs and advised our AC hose was clogged. I asked why they were even touching the AC hose and they said they check everything. We declined the AC repair because there was nothing wrong with the hose. A week later our carpet was drenched and had to go back to Toyota to repair. They charged us $140 to fix it. Awful coincidence it never had a problem until they messed with it. This past month we brought our van for an oil change. They recommended we replace all 4 tires. 2 of them were ok so we replaced the two front. Shortly after leaving the service dept our tire inflation warning light came on. Brought the van back a week later and Westbury Toyota made us wait 2 hours to tell us our sensor was now bad and $350 to repair. I asked them if it was in the two front tires they just replaced and their service manager Doreen told us she did not know. I explained that if it was in the 2 new tires, they should take responsibility and repair it. She refused to check the two front tires and let us leave with a piece of paper stating "Customer declined Repair" I reported this to Toyota corporate and they opened a case for me. No one from Westbury Toyota responded. I called Toyota headquarters again and they gave me 2 contacts of customer service reps to speak with at Westbury. I called Westbury Toyota and asked for the two contacts and was advised 1 was no longer there and the other moved to accounting. Finally after about 6 phone calls found someone to assist (Dana) and I’m bringing my vehicle there today to hopefully resolve the tire issue. In any event, my opinion is the serrvice dept has gone way downhill over the past year. You can’t even find their General Manager Mark F. He does not answer e-mails and no one seems to know where he is. When I wait in the waiting room I always hear the service managers recommending many repairs that probably are unnecessary. I’m lucky to have some knowledge of auto repairs otherwise I’d be taken advantage of. Beware of things that break shortly afterwards when having your vehicle serviced at Westbury Toyota. I have lost my trust on their service dept. They need new management as the current service managers do not know how to deal with customer complaints.
UPDATE: They corrected the problem within 15 minutes of bringing the vehocle back after complaining to Toyota Corporate office 3 times. Shows you I would have shelled out $350 had I not complained to fix something they were resp for.
PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW………I made an offer on a previously owned car (car was NOT in great shape), Oliver left for about 10mins came back and said “if I can get you the car for $7,000 do you want to buy it?” I said, “yes”. He asked me for a credit card or check. I told him I would like to drive the car first. I drove the car it drove decent. We went back inside. AGAIN I was asked for a check or credit card I told Oliver that I first wanted to see the finance charges and fees. He asked for my information to run a credit check. By this time I and anyone would think they accepted my price. I gave him my information and told him I was putting down 50%. He came back and few minutes later with the price of the car increasing $1,900+. They did a bait and a price switch. I told them we agreed on a price. Oliver said “no we didn’t” WELL…if we didn’t how do they get the nerve to ask for a check or credit card. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP…..I DO RECOMMEND NORTH SHORE HONDA WHO DID SELL ME A GREAT CAR….They did not continuously ask me for money before all the pricing was in place. They were very ethical….
The guy asked you if he could get you the price would you buy it. Not that it was the price you even wrote it yourself if you want a 25% discount on a $9000 car you my friend are not a buyer your a big FAT liar. If your budgets $7000 look for a $7000 car dummy
THE PROBLEM IS THEY HADN”T SETTLED ON A PRICE AND HE KEPT ASKING FOR MONEY!!!!
I agree. THAT IS HIGHLY UNETHICAL. All they need for a credit check is your driver’s license. I have dealt with these sleazebags. This is the way they operate. DO YOU WORK FOR WESTBURY TOYOTA?
they only had 1 corolla left and i was pressured into leaving a $500.00 deposit on my credit card this was on the 2 of nov now i called back the next day for them to cancel my credit cad and i was told i must come in so that they can swipe my card this is bull so i called my credit card company and stopped the charge as of today nov 28 they have not replyed to my credit card company DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE LIARS also rob the manger won’t answer my calls
sounds like your the liar reneging on a signed contract with a $500 deposit, you my friend are the liar.
@Sullivan How do they let you keep tearing down negative reviews? CLearly you have an interest in the dealership. If you work there/are an owner try cleaning up the antics instead of wasting time with this. I HAVE LITERALLY TOLD 50 people never to go to Westbury Toyota.
I RECOMMEND WANTAGH MAZDA. Very ethical and smooth transaction. No BS at all. GREAT CAR!!!
The only way we can stop this place is for people to stop buying or even shopping there. TOYOTA CORP. also doesn’t respond. They are in agreement with the tactics there by their inaction.
“s” works for wantagh mazda and likes to go on message boards and post negative feedback about other dealerships in an ATTEMPT to make himself and his dealership look good kinda like digital extortion just another wacko posting false info on the internet???????
you are a sad sad excuse for a human being. I am a customer, but the fact that you said all of this just confirms for me that YOU are an employee/owner of Westbury Toyota. I was a VERY angry dissatisfied customer. Hell hath no fury like a customer scorned.
I had a horrible experience at this dealership. I was supposed to buy one Camry and AFTER all the papers were signed and the deal was almost finished, I noticed the salesman changed the VIN number and stock number AND NEVER TOLD ME! He then explained that the original car was not available and I was actually getting a better car. (Then why not tell me right up front? Isn’t this good news? Or were they surprised I NOticed? Then a “Manager” named Mike berated me for wanted to cancel the deal and told me “We were going to give you a Better car and you want to leave? Go ahead… leave.” Unbelievable!! We have contacted Toyota corp. THEY SAY IT IS ILLEGAL TO ALTER THE CONTRACT AFTER IT IS SIGNED!!!! When I asked to see this “better” car they made excuses that it was in another lot. They would have to get it. Needless to say, I didn’t wait to see the car. I left immediately. I tried to give them a bad review on dealerrater.com, but it was never posted. When I look at all the reviews on dealerrater I notice that EVERY review on there is positive. Apparently they don’t allow BAD reviews.
I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I PURCHASED MY NEW YARIS IN 2008 THAT I WENT BACK TO THE SAME SALESMAN KNOWING THAT HE WOULD HELP ME FIND THE RIGHT CAR FOR MY FAMILY. THANK YOU!SINCERELY LUIGI&ANGELA CONTINO
Quoted price to us on the phone and made us come in for the car that did not exist after we confronted them – asked for more money for desired color.
To make a long story short , I brought my vehicle in to Westbury Toyota Service for a NYS inspection. They failed the inspection due to serpentine belt wear(microscopic cracks on belt)They sold me a new belt for approximately $200.A few days later on a hunch I called NYS Department Of Motor Vehicles. They told me specifically that the serpentine belt fails inspection only if there are large chunks of material missing from the belt.THEY LIED, FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO GO TO.
I have been bringing my car here for years so I thought nothing of getting my NYS inspection done by Westbury Toyota. They put it up on the lift and after about 20 minutes they called me over and told me that it did not pass inspection. They told me that the serpentine belt had hairline cracks and this was a reason for the car to fail inspection.I allowed them to replace the serpentine belt at a cost of just under $200 (if i remember correctly).About 2 OR 3 weeks later I was reading an article on automobile fraud on the internet. The article made me interested on the belt they had just put on.I then called the NYS Department Of Motor Vehicles and sure enough the car is only supposed to fail inspection if there are “large chunks” of the serpentine belt missing. So they lied! DO NOT USE WESTBURY TOYOTA!
Too much to start listing. But lets just say, I have the car for less then a month and 1500 miles, and the trouble began. The RPMs went from 3 to 8 on its own. The car shut down while driving. Had it towed to the dealer. The transmisson went and was replaced. Within 1 1/2 hours my wife called and said the car was having trouble stopping. The brakes first didn’t stop then just locked up, while she was getting off the highway. The car failed again with the stopping and now the Anti Lock Braking system is acting weird. The cars sounds like things are loose under the hood and the brakes make the whole car shake. When we got home, all the same lights came on again as the first trouble and now me and my wife are afraid of driving this car with these issues. Transmisson, brakes two important items. I thought Toyota fixed there problems. I guess not since I searched on the internet that this is what has been going on including some other that I didn’t realize until it was posted. It was called steering drift. I feels like I am always adjusting the wheel as I drive. Be Careful. These are serious.
In October of 2007 I purchased a 2008 Highlander from Westbury Toyota. On the last day of March 2010,(end of the month/1st quarter) we went to another dealer that was closer to home to look at a 201o Prius. That dealer did not have the car/color we wanted in stock. I called Westbury and spoke to Mark. I asked if they had the car/color we wanted in their stock. I was told they did. I told Mark we would be there within the hour to look at the car. When we arrived at Westbury we found the showroom to be poorly lit (very dark) and not very crowded. Mark immediately handed us off to another salesman. This salesman then went to get the car from another lot. When he returned with the car we looked at it and told him we did not need to test-drive it as we were familiar with the vehicle. We then went inside to talk price. The salesman gave us the MSRP. I asked about a lower price. I was told “We don’t discount the Prius here”. The salesman then proceeded to pull out a calculator and say that he would discount it 1%. I asked about a lower price and was again told “We don’t discount the Prius here”. I gave the salesman a figure and he then said he would have to see if he could do better than the 1% by talking to his manager. He then asked me for a credit card to “show we were serious”. I refused to give him a credit card. He then wrote something down on a piece of paper and asked me to initial it. I asked what I was initialing. The salesman said I was initialing to agree to buy the car if the price was ok. At this point we got up and left the dealer. I felt pressured and I already knew I could get the vehicle at a lower price than was being offered.. Within 5 minutes of leaving the dealership I received a call on my cell phone from “a sales manager” asking what was wrong and why I left. He was somewhat abrupt in his manner. I hung up. I would not recommend this dealership now even thought I had previously purchased a vehicle from Westbury Toyota.
I would never again buy from this dealership, nor would I recomend them to anyone. Terrible experiance! The service department is another place of horror. I swear they moved it down the block to avoid having people in the showroom seeing upset customers like myself potentially hindering sales.
Worst experience ever. Complete rip-off! Gave me lease financing for a manual 2009 Camry CE based on $28,000 when the car was msrp $20,400. The most basic car ever. Totally took advantage of me being new to the process and didn’t go over figures…just went straight to monthly payments. Made me pay for pre-paid maintenance without my knowledge. Also found out via service department print-out that the car had a little more mileage on it than was indicated on the odometer and contract. I realized afterwards that I was overpaying for the car by between $125-$175 per month.:mad: Most dealers overcharge and try to deceive their customers but this one has no regard for human life. Avoid this dealership at all costs!
Earlier today, I brought my vehicle into the service department of Westbury Toyota for their so called “Yellow Service” which is what they call their 5,000 mile service check and oil change.
I had my own synthetic motor oil and TRD oil filter, so I brought this to the attention of the service advisor, and he said that the price of the oil and the filter would be deducted from the total price of the service. When my service invoice was written up, I noticed that in addition to being charged $3.98 for a 16 oz. bottle of windshield washer fluid concentrate (Autobarn and Strauss charge .99 cents for a 1 gallon bottle of windshield washer fluid), I was in fact charged $6.95 for an oil filter.
I should not have been charged for an oil filter as I had supplied my own filter, and since the cost of the oil is included in Westbury Totoya’s “Yellow Service”, I should have been given an additional credit for the oil which I supplied.
Although I was initially told by the service advisor that I was not being charged for the oil filter, upon calling someone higher up in the service department’s “chain of command”, I was told that I was in fact charged for an oil filter. They agreed to deduct the price of the oil filter from my invoice, but they refused to credit me for the oil. They also refused to remove the outrageous charge for windshield washer fluid. Other Toyota service departments top off their customer’s windshield washer fluid reservoir free of charge, but this Westbury Toyota has to nickle and dime their customers by charging them for this service!
I will never bring my car into Westbury Toyota’s Service Deparment again, and when it is time to replace my car with a new one, I will take my business elsewhere!
Do not go to Westbury Toyota. We picked up our Camry from this dealership who rushed us to drive the car by the end of the day. The accessories (alarm and remote start) we wanted were not installed and that we had to arrange for ourselves to install at the service dept which is located at another location. We had to make repeated visits at the service dept since the alarm and remote won’t work. Finally, we found out that the wrong remote was installed because not all features and choices of the remote start were explained to us during the purchase. They are clueless on the features of the remote. The dealership would not take back the wrong remote and install the unit we actually wanted. Do not go to this dealership.
