Here is why you don’t want to buy from this dealership. I bought a new Toyota Tacoma SR5 on 11/25/2020. The first problem was after we agreed on a price and I was looking over the paperwork, I found they tried to add an $890 charge as an “accessory fee” to the purchase price. When I questioned the salesman, Michael Wright, about it, he replied “oh, that’s just a paint protection plan we add to all the vehicles”. So watch out and check your paperwork closely before you sign anything. I should have left at this point, but it seems like most dealers are the same way anymore, so I just had them remove the charge.
Now I started the approximate 4 hour wait to sign my paperwork, which happened to be right about closing time. The entire time I’m waiting, Michael keeps checking on me and telling me they’re getting my new truck detailed and I should be next to do my paperwork and he’s very nice this entire time. After I sign the paperwork, Michael Wright hands me one key to my new truck. I asked “why only one key?”, he replied “the SR5 trim only comes with one key”. Shocked I said “are you kidding me??” and he replied “yeah” like he couldn’t care less. Dumbfounded and caught off guard, I didn’t know if this was true or not, or how to even combat it. His personality completely changed after I signed the paperwork. I’ll also note, they did not clean the vehicle at all. It was dirty and still had stickers all over inside and out.
When I arrived at the dealer and was looking at the truck, Michael Wright informed me I would receive a new Samsung 50″ 4K TV, as a promotional offer, if I bought a vehicle that day and he pointed to a large stack on the showroom floor. So, after being told I was only getting one key, now I ask about my TV. He replies, “sorry, we’re all out”. The stack of TV’s had disappeared while I was signing my paperwork after closing time. Now I’m angry and can’t believe how I’m being treated, but I don’t know what to do. I tell Michael, “well, I’m leaving you guys a bad review” and I leave. A short while later, on my 135 mile drive home, Michael calls my cell leaving a message stating “sorry about the confusion, but I spoke with my manager and we’re making sure everyone that bought a car today gets the promotional TV”. A short while after that, I receive a text stating the same thing, but he added that he was personally going to pay to have the TV shipped to my home since I lived so far away. It’s been 3 weeks and I don’t have my extra key or the TV. I will note I contacted a local Toyota dealer to find what it would cost me to purchase the extra key that I should have received. $273.17 for one programmed key.
While signing my paperwork with Milt Coleman (this guy is a real ball of joy) he asked me to sign a waiver of my right to take legal action against the dealership, stating it’s just so they have an opportunity to make things right first if there’s a problem. Haha right. Well, I didn’t agree to that and decided to just draw some doodles on the line instead of putting my signature on it. He grabbed it and stuck it with the rest of the paperwork and I chuckled to myself. So, here I am trying to get Toyota customer support to do something about the situation and they are useless. I just filed a complaint with the BBB. I’m writing this review on every dealer review website I can find to help other people avoid this place. Next step is to sue them in small claims court. I’m sure glad I didn’t sign that waiver and I recommend you don’t either.
