The place is bizarre. I looked at a car, and they told it would be ready the next day, and I signed the papers. But then it wasn’t ready, and this started almost 3 weeks of back and forth, each time saying it was going to ready in a day or two, and then it wasn’t. Phone calls going nowhere, and not getting back to me. Until a manager calls me, because he is confused why the paper work wasn’t done, so I tell him the story, and then finally the car is ready in 24 hours. But then when I drive the car off the lot, the check engine light comes on within 3 miles. It runs rough, and almost stalls out at every light. They say they will fix it (they better), and they will loan me a car while that is happening. But when I take the car in, there is no one there to loan me a car, and they there aren’t any cars to loan.
This place will just lie to you, every chance they get, and not ever come through with what they say they can do. And they seem to have no problems selling you a car that doesn’t actually work. Horrible place, worst experience buying a car, and I’ve had some bad ones.
I love Toyotas, but I your dealerships could do better… Owned 3 Toyotas before, but my newest Toyota 2015 Sienna has a Navigation problem where the whole unit will power down while driving, I have videos of this occurring. When I brought it in to Toyota Sunnyvale, they refused to review the video and told me that they could not do anything about it since it had to occur in the shop. When asked for a manager, their supervisor Bob Pelletier said that their dealership is a franchise and that they do not answer to Toyota. When I asked him about Toyota honoring their service commitments, he replied with “you are a little shit for twisting my words.” and said this 3 more times in a course of 10 minutes (no one has called me that before). I told him that this is not the best way to treat his customers and his advice to me was to call corporate Toyota and take the car back to the original dealership to get it looked at. I have been to Toyota Sunnyvale before and had serviced all my cars and purchased one prior. I wish I would have I just gone to another dealership. I was in so disbelief, I told him that I am going to record this conversation because of him cussing me out and his response was “it is illegal it to record with out my permission and if you do, I will own your car.” This is terrible service, my car is a 2015 Sienna with under 10k miles. I have never been called a “little shit” before. When I asked him that he needs to avoid cussing at his customers, he said I am not his customer and that he is standing up against people like me. I don’t even know what that means.
I made an appointment to see a Toyota Highlander that they had advertised on the net. The sales person told me the car was there and would be ready at 1:00, so I drove 40 miles to be there. When I arrived, I was kept waiting about 20 minutes. After that, the salesperson drove me all around the lot “looking for the car” I had come to see–it was nowhere to be found. She showed me several other vehicles and repeatedly tried to interest me in other cars. Finally I asked to see the car I came to see and after telling me multiple stories about where the car was and keeping me waiting nearly one and one-half hours, she took me to the used car sales manager who said the car was sent to auction that day and they would get it back and drive it over to me the following day. I received several phone calls from the dealership saying they would make sure the car was brought over. This morning (the day promised), a salesperson from the dealer called to inform me that they still cannot find the car, they have no idea “if someone borrowed it or it is at auction” and therefore he would not be bringing the car over for me. I think this is a typical “bait and switch” attempt by Sunnyvale Toyota. My advice if you really want a car they have advertised, STAY AWAY.
Bought a used vehicle from Toyota of Sunnyvale and didn’t receive any temporary registration, so of course i got pulled over and fined a 115 dollars, and the dealership response when I told them about the incident is “that its my problem for getting the fine and there not responsible” What? Are you kidding me! Its been a month and a half and still haven’t received a title, when ask, they said they didnt have the title, and they were trying to get it. So they sold me a vehicle, when they didn’t even have the title for it!!! These shady practices from Toyota of Sunnyvale in my opinion are just wrong! Now I cant register my car without the title, and the bank doesn’t have it either. Now I have a car, making payments, paying insurance, and I cant drive it for fear of another ticket. STAY CLEAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! LET ANYBODY KNOW IF THEY PLAN TO BUY A CAR FROM TOYOTA OF SUNNYVALE, TAKE THE DRIVE TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER, IT WILL SAVE YOU THE HEADACHE LATER!!!
