I am probably lucky to be alive after my experience with the Tempe Honda service shop, since about a week after they did, at their recommendations, some brake work on my Accord, the newly installed brakes fell off.
Literally.
I was stopping at a red light in my neighborhood, on my way to get onto the freeway, and felt the newly serviced brakes go mushy. Luckily, I was able to use the emergency brake to stop before entering a busy intersection. We found parts of the newly installed brakes in the street. Thank God I was on a slow neighborhood street and not doing 65 mph on the freeway. And oh, yes, my daughter was also in the car.
Yes, Tempe Honda repaired the brakes for free (well, duh!), and yes, they paid for the car rental while they did the work (yeah, I should think so), and yes, they were mortified and apologetic, but they the didn’t really seem interested in explaining what happened, or even in keeping us as future customers. Oh, they gave us 25% off a regular service of our other Honda (big deal, we regularly get coupons for 20% off), but no follow-up contact, nothing from the head of the company, whom we wrote to: nada.
I tell this story to everyone I meet locally who has a Honda: avoid them like the plague: either one could be life-threatening.
Ladell and his team are the worst. I took my Odyssey in to fix the window glass motor. They fixed that and charged more than the other shops. In addition to that, they also put a hole in the A/C hose and completely messed up my A/C. I had to pay $550 dollars to fix the hose and add freon to get the A/C to function again. I did this A/C work at a different shop. Ladell and team are crooks. They cheat the customers. Their service director is a jerk and treats you like dirt. I would not recommed them to anyone.
I recently purchased a used vehicle from Tempe Honda along with a warranty. Unfortunately, about a month after purchase a problem developed with the front differential. It should have been covered by the warranty. While I have nothing good to say about the warranty company, Tempe Honda went way, way beyond expectations. After fighting hard with the warranty company who refused to step up, they picked the car up and replaced the differential at no cost to me. Absolutely unbelievable! I thought that kind of integrity and customer service was gone forever.
